  • that's fucking awesome

  • @brokeherlittlebones thanks :)

  • So that knob on the top, was that speeding and slowing the game or just the music? Did u install a flux capacitor ?

  • @douchebagcrew9 the knob changes the speed of the processor, which slows down everything, the game and the music and even the screens refresh rate. the flux capacitor is on the back

  • Can I borrow that?

  • @douchebagcrew9 you can buy it, or rent it lol

  • blue backlight is kinda stupid the light on the bottom left is dumb cuz its red and the case is clear not to mention you have the big clunky switches on top,, great idea but wasnt "executed" the right way

  • @DjStiv3 the backlight was later changed to a green one

  • Awesome, but the clear GB is pretty rare. It's in the Play-It-Loud series.

  • @NESAtariSegaNerd its not rare if you know where to look, i have maybe 20 lying around

  • @RustyNex If that's so, I wouldn't mind buying some from you!

I also like the colored GBs (NOT GBCs), but can't find one. My MIB one came from a flea market, but shoot me a PM if you want to get rid of any.

  • @NESAtariSegaNerd i got like 200 gameboys in total, but they are mainly stock for modding. if i do get a real job then i will probably sell them all, but at the moment they are my only source of income, and i make a lot more money modding them than selling them stock.

  • @RustyNex How much would you sell a backlighted GB clear for?

  • @NESAtariSegaNerd drop me a mail and we can talk about it: Ralph (dot) nex (at) gmail (dot) com

  • @RustyNex first what does it do and second, why did you do it?

  • @Majorasword64 its for chipmusic, it has things like a pitch bend and mute switch that are useful for audio, but it also has a lot of flashy tat stuck to it to make it look pretty.

  • A.K.A (gaydar)

  • @CaptCrewSock looks like its found you, holy shit its going off the scale!

  • This GameBoy looks retarded- yet awesome at the same time.

  • I have one very important question, how did u get a gameboy wich is CLEAR LIKE A LENS i only see some butt they are kind of milky on the inside. So how did u get that, is it from a special series?

  • @DerTimmeyy its just a regular gameboy, i did use some chemicals to clean off the text, but it was just a good condition one, not one that has been sitting in the sun.

  • @RustyNex what chemicals did u use? i thinh those gave the outside the glossy look. And if those are not the reason why its glossy, where can i find one? ebay are only crappy ones. Nevermind i just want to know the names of the chemicals (i want to make a modded gameboy too. Oh and thanks for answering.

  • @DerTimmeyy petrol, but all the gameboys i have had are gloss, and they all came from ebay, you might be able to polish a gameboy with some polish, its just plastic so it can be what ever you want it to be

  • @RustyNex first of all: thanks that u answer my question, second: what chemicals did u use for getting of the text? I wanna do that to mine too

  • @DerTimmeyy like i said, i used petrol/petroleum/bensin/gas/gasoline depends on what you want to call it. but its not easy you have to rub it with a cloth for a long time

  • @RustyNex sorry, im not able to read the word, petrol.

  • Dear Santa...

  • @VirusSSJ5 write that letter to someone who exists and it might be possible to get one for christmas ;)

  • @RustyNex I know that, i'm just kidding. This gameboy is epic!

  • @VirusSSJ5 i know its just shameless promotion lol

  • Dude, i search modded gameboys for Making ChipTune. I life in switzerland, do u make pro sound modded gameboys?

  • @KantenHammer yea sure i build all kinds of gameboys, drop me a mail: Ralph (dot) nex (at) gmail (dot) com

  • how much u sell it? ;)

  • @RoShAnOWNEDyou i don't know if i would sell this exact one, but i make custom gameboys if you are interested

  • @RustyNex hmmm

  • @RustyNex I am interseted :P

  • The pause button is a sick idea :D

  • @Monkatore actually its a mute, but thanks :) it was a button from some kind of old toy, it worked perfectly in the gameboy

  • HOLY CRAP THIS THING IS EPIC!!!!

  • @nathan3227 thanks :)

  • I love the on/off switch, but really, the whole thing is fucking awesome! Good work, mate!

  • @combatcommand thanks very much, the on off switch was actually the easiest bit!

  • O.o

  • Haha that's ku

  • How did you make this? As in, what kind of tools you used, how you modded it, etc. I'm interested in modding either my GBA or buying an original Gameboy off of my buddy and modding that. If anything, I would love to just take the case apart and using it as a phone or iPod case. Do you think you could help me out?

  • @thatdamnwetback i just made it, there wasn't much in the way of planning or tutorials etc, i used many tools, it just depends on what needs doing as to which tool to use, but i would recommend you have a look on the net as there are loads of pages on modifying consoles like this, then you just have to work out what you want it to do.

  • @RustyNex Well, alright then. Thanks!

  • Would love to see gameplay on this bad boy. how much would one of these cost?

  • @silentsoldier i don't think i would remake this gameboy as it was very difficult, but i would make similar ones, but the prices really vary because of all the different mods it could have.

game play is great, the pitch bend makes it really easy to skip crappy parts and increase the difficulty of slow games etc, lots of fun

  • Do you no were i can find a tutorial on Av moding or Component or even a on switch mod....i love the on switch

  • @MrRumblePak try 8bc there may be something there

  • moma mia !!!

  • This looks like a beta version of the gameboy. :) One they used for testing or something. Very nice.

  • @leoisforevercool technically it was my beta version for my RGB gameboy

  • im confused at to what it does

  • @FitzGarrett everything! its for chipmusic, it has certain features that are useful to that

  • but willit blend

  • @FitzGarrett not on my watch

  • @Teotoo yea, they don't seem to find it funny when i tell them its a nuclear device for destroying the world

  • @Teotoo i have many times and i ALWAYS get stopped! they have to wipe it down and test it with stupid machines! it gets very annoying.

  • I WANT THIS SO BADDDDDDDDDDD!

  • turbo robot transforming remote control from outer space

  • @lady12480 pretty much!

  • I can't see shit...

  • Does it have a display output for TV's?? if it does, it really is AWESOME!! Why not make a video of you playing a game?

  • @lLlHARVEYlLl this one does't have an output to the TV but i have another video of my TV out mod. i will think about making a video with just playing a game, all the gameboys in my videos have been changed in some way, for example this one has a green backlight now, so i could update the videos

  • WTF do they even play games and how do u make them

  • @WarpGam1ng yep they play games just like normal, the main function of the gameboy is still intact, it just has extra features. and how do i make them.... that is not a simple question lol

  • ultimate mod

  • That's absolutely insane. Smart thinking with the use of the transfer pack to give yourself more room though.

  • @Raurik thanks, i have actually fitted more in a gameboy without the transfer pak, but i had the idea and really wanted to see if it would work

  • nex från 8bc :)?

  • @Leoooonard same one

  • @RustyNex aha :D,vet du vad ett nytt blått dmg skulle gå på ebay för? fick tag på ett billigt och tänkte sälja

  • @Leoooonard they don't go for much, maybe 300kr but you can give it a try and see!

  • @RustyNex oooh trodde man skulle få mer eftersom det är en lite eftertraktad färg ;) aja tack för hjälpen

  • @Leoooonard you never know it could go for more, but i wouldn't pay more than 300, good luck :)

  • @RustyNex yeah i guess thats true but a new blue dmg isnt really something that pops up on youtube that often lol :P

  • @Leoooonard you can always try it, advertise it on 8bc.org i am sure many people will want it, but just don't expect a really good price for it, its still just a gameboy ot most people

  • @RustyNex true true . still brand new consoles really tend to be alot more ;)

  • @Leoooonard true, always worth a try :)

  • Can you make a list of what you did with it?

  • @DefyingDeviance check my blog there is a list of all the mods there: nex.gg8.se/modblog/

  • qill overclocking the gameboy you can use the gb camera to capture hicher framerates per second.

  • @johneymute you can but not significantly, the camera is slightly faster but it reaches a limit of the actual camera hardware. but also any speed increase of the gameboy throws out the timing if you want to take delayed pictures

  • Tutorial?

  • Deffinate, SUPER NERD!

  • @rustynex Nice Frankeinstein you got thar :D

  • @panchaiy12 there sure is very little original gameboy in there lol

  • Comment removed

  • @RustyNex Ive noticed it uses 4 AA Batts damn :/ its that a Nintendo Transfer Pack on its back?

  • @panchaiy12 yea the originals all use 4 batteries. its using parts from a transfer pak on the back to make extra room inside for all the other stuff

  • SUPER AWESOME!!! Totally BADASS mod! NICE!!

  • @PhatPhunk thanks!

  • is that i web cam on that thing

  • @Armstrong202 nope thats the gameboy camera :)

  • Awesome

  • can i have it

  • @Gamer3911 if you pay me loads!

  • why do you use the gameboy camera for all of your tests?

  • @dacasman just happens to be the cart i have at the time really, one thing about it is it makes noise all the time except for when taking photos, so its good for testing sound

  • *Bows Down*

  • 0:38-0:40 it sounds like its saying "uh-oh" haha

  • um... a bit much

  • @Yodathesoda64 it was more just to see how far i could take it, the ones i use more often are actually much more basic than this

  • av out?

  • @zach3493 not yet, its got audio RCAs on the top and LCD video out but not composite, i have kinda given up on that as it is just too much electronics to fit in a gameboy

  • @RustyNex thats pretty sick.

I use to do this sort of thing with my psps.

It's been a while for me but here's one of mine.

    watch?v=4obWwU-BAtQ

  • @zach3493 nice that looks good! is that with just an op amp?

  • @RustyNex thanks man, but no.

I just did a direct connect to the speakers with like 30 smds.

It's not really good for the system but its SUPER easy. haha

I also made it usb chargeable, which I guess is pretty easy too but kinda cool.

I swapped out the green power led for a red one to match everything.

I added a pretty good speaker to give the psp a little bit of bass boost and finally a little switch to toggle everything.

It also had custom fw so I could play gba roms and psp isos.

  • @zach3493 thats pretty cool, i am impressed that the speaker has enough power to run all those LEDs still it looks great! sounds like a great PSP, i think i will have to invest in one

  • @RustyNex yeah man! I prefer the psp 1000 because its the cheapest so if you short the motherboard then you can just get another, and in my opinion, they are the easiest model to modify. A common mod is adding the go cam into it, and tons of led options. Pulse leds are cool, I haven't really tried that. Some people like adding a second joy stick to the right side known as a "nub". I have done that, a bit simple, but very annoying. Its for first person shooter games, which I'm not really into.

  • @zach3493 that sounds really interesting, i think i might have to get one and give some of those mods a try, i like the idea of a built in camera

  • Is the LCD breakout socket for your super gameboy mod?

  • nope, the LCD and button breakout socket just puts out the video and control data, on my super gameboy i have fitted the same socket because its the same chip inside. they are both outputs so the sockets are female, i cant plug the two together it would damage them, but i am working on a new super gameboy with an IN socket as well and see if that works

  • beautiful work

  • dude..... you must have alot of free time... to build awsome stuff....

  • or just very quick at making things ;)

  • will you sell this ??

  • not any time soon but maybe when i am done using it.

but i am working on opening an online shop to sell custom gameboys.

  • lush... if you do post it on 8bc cheers :D

  • of course! but i am selling custom ones as well, many happy customers out there now with fully midi enabled gameboys

  • so how much would you want for a prosound/backlit grey DMG?

  • drop me a mail and we can talk ;)
