Since the SHAN ELECTION the BURMA ARMY is back at it again.
Gang-raping 18 Kachin women in one week. Gang-raping 3 Shan women. 600+ full scale assaults since the NEW GOVERNMENT broke the decades long cease fire.
As strange as it may sound, not only did the crushing of the monks protests bring my attention to Burma.. But so did the movie Rambo 4 in 2008! Credit to Stallone for bringing mainstream attention to the situation there. What do others think of that film?
@JCRF i didn't like the move very much. like other hollywood movies it portrayed non-white people victims or just villans. like grand torino, hate that movie. why can't movies just portray non-whites as just NORMAL?
@chochachili Both those movies told had quote 'non-whites' that were arguably normal. In Gran Torino, the family next door were just normal folks trying to live their lives. In Rambo, the Karen villagers are mostly normal folk at the mercy of civil war. These movies are telling stories, important stories, it isn't their job to idly portray 'normal people' of ANY race. They are telling stories of conflict and sacrifice.
@JCRF i had already had some knowledge about the situation in burma for a while. but that film has awoken my interest about what has been happening in burma. actually im watching the film ryt now. just wanting to wanted to kill some tym. then this hit me. may our karen brothers achieve their freedom. death to those disrespecting human life. may their souls rot in hell ten folds.
Karen land will never be recognize by the westrern nation unlees they come up with oil, so there no much oil in burma, too but nay way Karean , please you lead your own way to freedom, that last longer.
I have worked and stayed in Burma for many years and the are a lovely people but the i have seen first had what the goverment can do Free free free Burma
My grandfather was a soldier in the Burmese army before he fled to Thailand. I've never met him because he died when my mother was young but she told me that there are no photos of him because he was afraid that if the Thai government saw his picture and foung out that he's an refugee from Burma and that he defected, he would be sent back to Burma and possibly get executed there.
im burmese. its even worser dan this guys u guys dont no bout us. if ur like 2 1/2 u start farming...A dollar in da US is $100 in Burmese $. an egg cost $60 . if u want 2 learn more message me cuz i want burma to b known
I am from Thailand and I have never learned anything about the Burmese civil war. Before coming to Australia, I could not understand why there are many Karen, Shan (Tai Yai) in my town (Fang). They often told me the story which the Burmese army forced them to work and kill them. They also said the life and work in the Thai farm are much easier than life on the other side of the border. Now I understand clearly. Thai education need to be changed, so Thai people can understand and BE NICER!!!
Around 2:00 of this video, I like your words, you forsake your ambition to continue your education, but for your Dad issue, your own ethnic problems and your force clamor, you came back to presence of your Dad, your race and your army force. We, karen you appreciate that and you value you always, General Bo Myat's Son.
We are waiting to see justice in Burma, to say what we want, to read the press we want, to speak our minds. Free the political opposition in Burma to show the World there is a chance of a democratically elected government. The World is watching and now is the time to act. Now that Burmese junta leaders 'step down' from military posts.
One day I will join US Army and then trained SSA, ALP, CNF, KNU, KNPP, & KNO. I would give them the best training. I also would tried to smuggles weapons like M16A4, M4, M249, SMAW, AT4, M252, M120, M224, M9 Bayonet, M203, M2-HB, Barrett M107A1 Sniper Anti Material Rifle, M9 Pistol, Desert Eagle, M67 Hand Grenades, M18 Smoke Grenades, and MK 19 AGL. I would also supply them US Woodland Marpat and Multicam. They wearing US camouflage it would be harder for Myanmar army to find them in the jungle.
@gigobait not the Karen.... If the knla finds drugs being transported thru their area they will detain and ver possibly kill the transporter. The hmong have begun to grow poppies in the areas that the Junta/ SPDC/ Burmese governement has pushed the KNLA out of. I have seen this with my own eyes. The junta is funding the drug trade and pushing loads of opium and meth (speed) across the border into thailand. Some of which makes it all the way to the US.
@hunyshero74 My mistake, I was thinking of Shan. Khun Sa had an army which dealt in opium production for funding. Do you know if the army still exists and operates the same way?
@gigobait Just a couple of years before Khun Sa died the SSA seperated themselves from him and tried to clean up their image. Now that he passed away the Shan have stopped their involvement in the drug trade and fund them selves through logging and minning operations... as well as taxing the local farmers and commercial traffice crossing their territory. Which is pretty much what the KNLA as well except they have funds coming from refugees located in the US, AUS, and the UK.
@gigobait not the Karen.... If the knla finds drugs being transported thru their area they will detain and very possibly kill the transporter.
What is the difference between a freedom fighter guerilla and a terrorist guerilla, like those we name in Afghanistan ? how can we side by one and alienate the other?
@gandalfthegrey41 Terorism a short way to reach ur destination. Terorist who use this way. If i change ur question: Wht is difference between Hiroshima attack and 2 Towers attack? Both of them against civil ppl of not?
These freedom fighters, god bless them. Also that Italian doctor is a unsung hero, risking his life to help poor villagers with health problems, and training soldiers, I salut him.
@ulongkoror between thailand and india. It is only known colloquially as Burma, it is currently called Myanmar. Pronounced /mjænˈmɑr/, the "y" acts as a consonant, not a vowel. People mispronounce it all the time.
@Kurmancboy This video is approximately 10MB. The wikipedia page on Burma is less than 1MB and takes just a few seconds to load. Surely it makes more sense for him to use wikipedia.
Thank you for getting this out there - this is another forgotten war...a war against the people, whose voices are hardly ever heard. Kudos to some of aid-workers who try to help these people, who are only trying to protect themselves.
@Kurmancboy Afghanistan is different, not everyone is content with US occupying, just look at history, it's a hell hole, and totally not worth fixing. In civilized Burma basically every civilian would like to see an end to oppressive rule. It's a neat and diverse country, increased tourism would help bring them up, they have an infrastructure to work with, they could have a lot of hope.
All of this won't even be happening if the junta just respected the results of Burma's last free elections in 1990, when Aung San Suu Kyi was elected as the country's Prime Minister in a landslide victory. But, due to the regime's pure hunger for power, they have kept on holding on to their current places, imprisoned Aung San Suu Kyi and thousands of other political prisoners, and continues to reign through fear.
THIS is why freedom must be given back to the Burmese People.
@pilipinasmabuhay100 what you said is Very true. However those who gain power thru the use of violence won't relinquish it to anything less than a greater power.
