11 of my 16 yrs active duty USMC, was spent under the command of the 31 MEU, whereas aside from training, we were the first to be deployed to humanitarian missions that were in proximity to Asia. There were only 2 select (H) missions that required full tactical gear.

Takeover,? Negative. 85% of the troops are support personnel not combat soldiers. They are the best equipped to handle rapid response contingency operation. They have the supply chain and delivery systems already available, and personnel who can be quickly deployed to offer comfort, aid and security. Contractors will, however, do the rebuilding.

a museum is not so bad, But lets be reasonable, course it nice if nations help, I was only wondering why it must be the US Navy and Army all of the time, I thought it better for the UN to have the mandate, Thats more appropriate in this case, Isnt the US screaming all the time it has to do things alone?

Ask your former president. It seems that you dont know how a country works. You have a goverment, elected by people. This goverment controls the budget, laws, police, armed forces. All that institutions works under the command of goverment. So thats the way things happens.... Ask George W. , Rumsfeld and the other politicians about the mess of Afghanistan...
