But since something like half voters never vote, that's 17 to 20% of the population and no doubt those figures may be exaggerated by fraud and expats and soldiers being tricked out of votes etc.

So taking out the huge 'ethnic' vote must leave 10% whites at most voting Labour.

Well, in theory, there is a main opposition party, but Cameron seems completely worthless. If you accept the very old analyses by e.g. Hilaire Belloc, the party system is a fraud - they will not investigate wars, they arrange business between front benches and the speaker, and so on. This seems to be entirely true. It's starting to change as the BNP are in explicit opposition - though of course they can't buy media access (newspapers) or control it governmentally (BBC). So we'll see.
