If i could know what it was like for a heart to break due to being disregarded and then left alone in shame, i'd only have to hear his words or reflect on my life. I don't know which is sadder....to hear it him sing his sadness or lived something like it and cry. /sigh
it's amazing how much you can relate to a music, to someone else's feelings... even if your thoughts are something other than the intended meaning of the song
But to me it's almost kinda funny cause me and my family moved when I was like 17.
What's funny about that you ask? Well, we moved to my ex grandmas house(R.I.P), which is right next to our old house ;)
I once sat down in my garden, smoked a good... cigarette, listened to both versions and looked over at the old house, thinking about all the memories I have from it.
@hanspeterpitsch when you were 17 or like 17? whats like 17? and i honestly think nobody cares about your memoirs. you sound like the kind of person i'd like to beat up.
@Telfer81 Like 17 means I don't know exactly. Is that not how you say that? If not, sorry. and I honestly think nobody cares about your opinion on my memoirs.
Sooo you beat people up because they have memories and like to share them when they get into the mood by listening to such a great song? Do you even listen to the smiths? You know, I don't force you to read my comment, let alone take the time to respond.
@hanspeterpitsch i'm sorry, it just seemed very corny and American. and i don't really beat people up, i just sit in my dark bedroom crying and writing Wilde-esque poetry with my peacock quill. please accept my apology.
@hanspeterpitsch i may be wrong, but 'the sound of music' vonn trapps, nazi's, singing family, julie andrews. was that not set in switzerland? if i'm wrng excuse my ignorance.
the line ' and you never knew, how much i really liked you, cause i never even told you...oh and i meant to', god it gets me everytime, makes me think of my first g/f. x
I couldn't believe this when I heard it back in the day. Marr's sophisticated artistry and Morrissey's gorgeous, manly vocal. Streets ahead of everyone then - and now (including themselves, alas). Love them both forever anyway.
Thanks for uploading- one of their best tracks IMO, I think the acoustic guitar lets Moz's voice shine through better than the Louder Than Bombs version
And it's even more painful to walk on red hot coals whilst sipping a bloody mary

Check out my version, I amplified a shitty guitar through my Fender Deluxe with reverb and the use of a chorus pedal. Tell me what you think.
