Totally off subject but it's alwwys bothered me when people throw garbage on the ground and if I were to go on YT and do such a video like this it would be about that.
From 0:07-0:26, it probably would have been better if Gordon said "a lot of you folks have been down about rain not liking it and saying bad things like oh phooey it's raining. (The spot from 0:18-0:21 sounds perfect. Also, instead of saying "a lot of people" and "they", it sounds better if he said "you folks" because the audience watching this skit can be down about rain too. Also at 1:53, he should have added more saying "I thank you all for listening and I hope you get an understanding."
Back when I posted the comment about my opinion on what Gordon should have said, I remember that I was free on that day where I didn't have any work to do. So I decided to watch this skit since this skit helped me when I was very young on how great rain is, and since I was free on that day, I decided to listen carefully on what Gordon said and what he could have said to make the skit better, especially since a lot of people put their opinions on YouTube skits on what they saw or heard.
Yes but the lightning from rain can be dangerous. So ti is good to get inside from rain. like rain or not. You would be suprised how many people get hit by lightning.
Anyone have any idea who the inspiration for this skit was? Some East coast political figure or well known televangelist of the time? At any rate, it's brilliant; truly Electric Company-esque material.
Yes, the other skits where Gordon got rained on was a skit called "do you know what happens next" with Maria as Charlie Chaplin, and a skit with Linda (the deaf character) who explained in sign language how to say rain where Gordon told the audience that it's rain she's signing, then real rain fell on him. The last skit was where Gordon was explaining "D" words like "dry", "drop" (because of a drop of water came down), then "damp" because a huge amount of rain wet him.
I also loved the "What Happens Next" skit. Unfortunately, that skit is probably not on YouTube. I tried to see if I could find it going on the google website but, it never came up. However, if I ever do find it, I will be happy to send it to you.
Oh phooey It's raining!!! Now I have to wait another day for my time to go to the zoo. I hate rain when you have am outdoor thing planed then it 's destroyed by the rain.
I feel kind of sorry for Gordon having to wear that wig. Must itch. I'm still waiting for the clip with Kermit interviewing the weather man who makes weather occur right there in the room.
Are you talking about the sketch in which Simon Soundman does the weather report using different sound effects for the weather, and Kermit calls in for a different person to do the weather report.
This looks like the only skit where Gordon doesn't mind getting wet. There were some skits where Gordon gets wet (three of them by rain), and he would either shout "no"!, or he would have a sad look on his face because of getting wet, or he would sneeze a lot having the sad look on his face. But here on this skit, it looks like that he likes to be wet making it look like that getting wet from the rain can be fun.
Now that you mention it, I have the sketch in which Gordon hosts the game what happens next (which was originally posted by tvcollector). But since I cannot put up here because of the technology, I'm sure sawing14s, jonnytbirdzback, NantoVision, or tv40plus might have it.
Yes, this was one of the three skits that I was thinking about where Gordon got wet by rain. The other two skits was where he was on a skit with Linda (the deaf woman) where Linda did the sign language for rain and Gordon told the audience what Linda was saying in sign language and then real rain fell on Gordon where he looked sad. The other skit was where Gordon was talking about "D" words, first "dry", then "drop" (because a drop of water came), then "damp" because a lot of rain fell on him
Speaking of the other actors, correct me if I'm wrong, but the other people in this sketch besides Gordon are Linda, Bob, Luis, and the kids, right? And was sketch this in the 70's or 80's?
Actually, Linda wasn't on this skit. The ones who were in this skit were the kids, Maria (the one who came in with the fishing rod and fishing net), and Bob and Luis (the ones who came in with the raft). I know Bob was in the skit but, it was hard to tell if the one who came in with Bob was Luis because the screen looked very dark that you couldn't see his face. But I'm sure it was Luis because he is the husband of Maria and he's friends with Gordon and Bob (he's on most skits with Maria).
I'm sure that was Maria who came in with the fishing equipment. I can tell that it was Maria because I recognize Maria's smile on Sesame Street where she is smiling on this skit. I know that Linda was the character on Sesame Street who was deaf, so if they were going to have Linda on this skit, they probably would've used sign language here. Linda has mostly been on skits with a different person speaking in sign language and she also stars in silent Sesame Street skits like Charlie Chaplin.
Say Gordon...want to come up here and hang out in this snowstorm that I'm currently in the middle of? You might like when it rains, but you might think differently about SNOW!
I was also wondering where Gordon is in this skit but, I wonder why Gordon is sitting and working in an office in this skit when he had a job in the 70s and 80s as a History teacher. Then in the 90s-present, he now has a job as a Science teacher. If this was a classroom he was in while talking about the rain, they should've shown all the desks and chairs just so that the audience will know what kind of job Gordon had back then and what job he has now. This skit taught me how good rain is
Did you get this from #2504 (Athena and Olivia at Birdland?) If so, there's someone on here who keeps asking people if they have scenes Olivia at Birdland. I can't remember his name at the moment, but it would really make his day if you put it up. I can't do it myself because I don't have the equipment.
In the beginning when I first saw this skit, I didn't know that it was Gordon but, as soon as he started talking, I found out that it was him because I know what his voice sounds like.
I wasn't sure why Gordon was wearing a wig on this skit since he was just playing as himself (Gordon who is always bald on Sesame Street) with his other Sesame Street friends. I wonder maybe the wig was so that he could get it very wet by the end of the skit so he could squeeze it very hard to get all the water out, and make himself look funny when he puts it back on, and so that he could show that being wet from the rain can make you look funny (another good thing about rain he was showing).
That's what I like about the bald Gordon. It seems like they can do a lot of things with the current Gordon that they couldn't have done with Matt or Hal's Gordon. It seems to make him more of a comical character than the other two were.
He kinda sounds like MLK!

Rain actually comes from the Earth's Polar regions, because the source of all precipitations happens to be ICEBERGS.

Yes, I believe that's the one. The new guy Kermit calls in has a more visual way of presenting the weather.
Actually, that's the only part of it that I remember. Only thanks to Muppet Wiki do I know that Simon the Soundman was in that clip as well.
