I remember my PSP 1000, the UMD drive wouldn't close anymore. sent it back to sony, same thing happened . Bought a refurb PSP, same thing happened.

Then i got the 2000, and it was saweet. Now i have the 3000 though, and it's even better.

the main difference between the two is the weight, and (from what i heard) the weight difference comes from the removal of a skeleton featured in the 1000(phat) that was for protection, the new 'disk door' is also to conserve weight... and as for homebrewing and console emulation (the illegal shit the psp does), w/o a pandora's battery you'd be best off getting a phat w/ 2.5 firmare at the latest, because you wouldnt be able to do any that w/ a slim w/o p.battery..
