Going through a lot does not mean that you aren't stupid for cutting yourself. Did the blues artists cut themselves or do anything physically harmful to themselves? No, they played the blues. When I was younger I was contemplating suicide. I was extremely depressed. Did I cut myself? No. I watched DBZ, Pokemon and YUGIOH and that made me happy. Then I was healed by a spiritual healer, but that's a whole different topic lol. Don't cover up emotional pain with physical pain.

@MarchingTheBeat Yeah I totally agree! Bands like The Devil Wears Prada, BFMV, Bring me the horizon etc. Are metalcore cuz they have higher screams and still have clean vocals. If you listen to white chapel its mostly death growls and guitar. I hate when people call all music that screams "death metal"

I also hate how on softer songs (ie hearts burst into fire, forever and always) people always say it reminds them of their boyfriend or grandpa who died... lol But i still totally agree some bands scream occasionally and are called "screamo" (like Linkin Park) (they suck now by the way) hell, even Papa Roach has some screaming in some of their songs! They are definately not screamo.Oh well fuck the society people who dont know about music
