Making Things Right!

In my church, the extra-ordinary ministers of the eucharist always take the eucharist from the tabernacle and transport it to the altar. As an extraordinary minister myself, I have always felt uneasy about this. Then recently I was told that there is a document written that expressly prohibits anyone but an ordained priest going into the tabernacle and transporting the host of the eucharist. Can you help me with this? I need a source document.

Does not Vatican II grant the bishops the power to fully vernacularize the Mass though? And thus giving way to the disappearance of Latin from the Liturgy.

Great news, the sooner the better. A priest in California who took advantage of his right to offer one traditional Latin Mass each Sunday was told by the Bishop that only parishioners or visitors staying at the home of a parishioner could attend. Presumably he wanted the priest to hire bouncers and have them check ID! What was he afraid of?

Bulldozing the faith -  and beautiful churches: I saw a picture of a bulldozer in the sanctuary of a cathedral in New Zealand, demolishing the old altar, chunks of it lying on the floor. It was jaw-dropping ghastly. How could they? How? Surely the devil was loosed at that time. Bring back beautiful churches! Thank you Michael. Keep up your good work.

I think the Holy Father's timing couldn't be more perfect. He knows so much better than we do how MUCH restoring the Faith means now with so very much looming over our heads. @needleduck Well, you are attending a likely valid but illicit Mass. So, you had better start attending a licit Mass if you possibly can - otherwise you are doing your soul no favors.

so should we view Vatican II as well-meaning but mistaken or as plain evil? In some circles, the word is adjectivized with the underlying connotation of misguided and "dumbing down" the Church liturgical practices. So many mistakes have been made. At one time in the past 45 yrs, my Dad told me they even had clowns at mass. I was shocked. How should I view Vatican II? Was the V2 Council erroneous?...I'm befuddled, because I saw how little praise the post-Vatican II English Masses receive..

The #1 liturgical "change" that needs to happen is to have the priest face God, not the people -- adoramus. This is more important than Latin, music, the calendar, etc. It sends a powerful message. The #1 most important dogma that needs to be reiterated is that, outside the Church, there is no salvation. Council of Florence. Jesus gave man the Catholic Church to sanctify him, no other tool is effective.

Thank you, Mr. Voris. The church I found which provides the Tridentine mass has the communion rails. I have never experienced the communion rails in the church before. Thank you very much for providing this information to Roman Catholics. It is inspirational.
