Anyway a book I am currently reading "The Wages of Whiteness" by David R Roediger... I think you would like it if you haven't read it already.
It examines how the concept of whiteness was socially constructed within American society... It also shows the way in which the aristocracy has been able to use this concept as a means to prevent social progress with regard to the conditions of working people.

Ancient Africans had their own issues I am sure, but the division of humanity based on color is a more recent concept. In the 1700's a German named Blumenbach divided humanity and he called whites Caucasoid because he thought the purest whites came from there. He also believed that all other groups came from whites.Blacks were called Ethiopian.
I am not sure when it began, but it is not a recent (19th/20th century) phenomena. During the Sub-Saharan slave trade, Ethiopians and Somali's (Cushitic peoples) got involved in the trade of West African blacks and began to own them as slaves. They partook in the systemic oppression and subjugation of these individuals. Even today in these societies these blacks are marginalized heavily. Slurs like: "baria", "adoon", "jareer", "totit", etc abound in these racist cultures...google to learn more.
Slavery in Ethiopia was only abolished in the early 20th cenutry. As far as Somalia I am not sure when slavery was officially prohibited but I know blacks in Somali society are relegated to only the most menial, lowly jobs and generally can't make much process. While a lot of it is based on appearance, some of it is tribal. Somalia's current president looks very dark skinned and has undoubtedly African features (though they are closer to Cushitic than Bantu, still).

Maybe in Europe you all were fighting amongst each other, but Africans never launched any unwarranted expeditions into Europe to conquer or kill or rape. @TheMindFarter In Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica the most common forms of slavery were those of prisoners-of-war and debtors. People unable to pay back a debt could be sentenced to work as a slave to the person owed until the debt was worked off.
They weren't forced to work there entire lives nor were there children taken away from them. They were workers not Slaves the same as in Africa try again!

Secondly, If the african slave trade started in the 16th century, then why In Senegambia, between 1300 and 1900, close to one-third of the population was enslaved.

There was also evidence of euros enslaving Africans in the early 1400's. All the nations youve mentioned were all visited by slave trading euros. So its safe to say they were either influenced or coerced into participating in the enslavement of other Africans.

Indentured servitude was and always has been up to a certain point; where as euro slavery was for life. A slave would be born and die a slave where as a servant would work his debt off wich could be anywhere from a week to a couple years, I don't see any similarities between the two.

@BlackThoughtChannel I have read your comments to CushiticSomalianMale. When did this "racism" in Somalia begin? Was it pre or post Europe? Ancient Africans had their own issues I am sure, but the division of humanity based on color is a more recent concept. In the 1700's a German named Blumenbach divided humanity and he called whites Caucasoid because he thought the purest whites came from there. He also believed that all other groups came from whites.Blacks were called Ethiopian.

I am not sure when it began, but it is not a recent (19th/20th century) phenomena. During the Sub-Saharan slave trade, Ethiopians and Somali's (Cushitic peoples) got involved in the trade of West African blacks and began to own them as slaves. They partook in the systemic oppression and subjugation of these individuals. Even today in these societies these blacks are marginalized heavily. Slurs like: "baria", "adoon", "jareer", "totit", etc abound in these racist cultures...google to learn more.

Slavery in Ethiopia was only abolished in the early 20th cenutry. As far as Somalia I am not sure when slavery was officially prohibited but I know blacks in Somali society are relegated to only the most menial, lowly jobs and generally can't make much process. While a lot of it is based on appearance, some of it is tribal. Somalia's current president looks very dark skinned and has undoubtedly African features (though they are closer to Cushitic than Bantu, still).

At BlackThoughtChannel, I am about procuring the truth and supressing the lies that are spread. Sure, Somali's say, "oh, there is no racism"..."we are brothers".
So then WHY do you Somali people call Bantu's "adoon" (slaves) and jareer "nappy hair". Those racial slurs are the equivalent to "nigger" and "coon". This is a racist area. Sure, when Somali's come here, especially their youth, they try to embrace black culture...but the Somali culture, at heart, is racist and disparate.. It's true.
