If you're gonna call the nature on this one, then riddle me this: in the past, women spent most of their fertile life being either pregnant or breastfeeding, and that resulted in 12 to 24 months without menstruation. Soon after, they would be impregnated again... and you get where I'm going with this. Monthly menstrual cycle is actually the product of a modern age which gave birth to modern life resulting in modern woman and decreased birth rate in the modern world.
@caranspicer I KNOW!! I've been trying to figure out why but I can't come up with anyone. I saw it on TV today and the chick who says "Did you know that when you're on a birth control pill there is no need to have a monthly period" has been replaced I'm pretty sure by Erica Takacs. Weird.
My grandmother died at the age of 43 before I was born due to birth control pills, but you know what? My periods are so horrendous I am seriously considering Seasonique. I don't care if it seems stupid, if I don't do that then maybe a hysterectomy.
@doreal don't be afraid to sound stupid, believe me there are a lot of missinformed comments here about seasonique, I suffer from Endometrysis and that's pretty tough, periods used to be awful and I used to vomit, have cramps for hours and diarrhea sometimes days, after I was diagnosed I was very scared because there is no cure for it and you are most likely to be non fertil and also get uterus cancer, hysterectomy is not a solution it's actually the "last resource", Seasonique treated me.
While I understand your point about not noticing pregnancy until later in the game...though it seems unlikely to become pregnant on a 99% effective pill, particularly when combined with a 93% effective condom...I don't like your assertion that it is "whiny."
Many women have extreme menstrual disorders that cause them crippling pain during their periods. We miss school and work because of it. Oh, and Midol? It's like putting a band-aid on a broken leg sometimes.
ok to all these ladies judging please think before u speak i take this because my period has cause me to have seziures as well as over 15 blood transfusions not all woman take them just not to have babies i take thim cause having my period very month could literally kill me.,
The bottom line is that contraception is unhealthy for women. People keep acting as though this unnatural, unhealthy hormone treatment is somehow empowering women but, the truth is, its distancing us from the real capabilities of our bodies.
Women's cyclical fertility is being distorted in order to accommodate men's constant fertility. The technology to invent a chemical contraception for men exists. We just refuse to jeopardize men's health the way we do women's.
@polarkksalsa Not really sure why you responded to my post. But to give you the same "courtesy," I'll have to ask, what IS the "real" capabilities of our bodies? To be honest, this commercial is so far from giving a sh*t about men's "constant fertility" and more about women who don't want any part of these "real capabilities" of which you pine after.
Secondly, your hypocrisy is disgusting. If a "jeopardy" does exist, why would you want to impose that risk on men? Just to make it FAIR? Sick.
i dont really think its a good idea... i mean keeping three month old blood in your uterus is a bad idea, besides defying nature... and what if you want to get pregnant? you're gonna wait three months?
i dont really think its a good idea... i mean keeping three month old blood in your uterus is a bad idea, besides defying nature... and what if you want to get pregnant? you're gonna wait three months?
But as she says, the serious risks mentioned are the same as for all other pills which gives twelve periods instead of four. Though seriously, pills shouldn't be used, they screw with nature way bad.
Who says that time of the month has to be every month? Uhhh, Mother Nature says! Serious risk include blot clot, heart attack and stroke, but what does she know?
Okay, I KNEW I wasn't crazy! I thought that was Claire Chitham and Jacque Drew, but I recognized them from Legend of the Seeker and I thought it was funny that they were both in this and were in the same episode of Legend of the Seeker. I loved them in that. I thought I was wrong though because I didn't think they would have done that commercial in New Zealand.
LOL. Kind of reminds me of that SNL skit a few years ago, for Annuale or something like that. Where women could prevent their periods for 11 months out of the year.
There aren't similar side effects with Seasonique, are they?
While I am not on this form of birth control, I wanted to comment on it's commercial and didn't know where else to post! I have a problem when the girls say, "Who says your supposed to have your period once a month?" Uh, I believe that would be nature that dictates that because if you weren't suppose to have it monthly, you wouldn't. I am not knocking having a period 4 times a year, but that commercial is extremely irritating because of that comment. Thanks for listening to my $.02 rant :)
It will prevent pregnancy alright It will make most women sterile where they will never have children
Most women will catch a form of cancer if they take this too long because women have been bleeding every month since the beginning of time and all of a sudden a smart ass wants to get rich and curse as many as they can
DUH! who says???? What do you think you are doing to your body? DESTROYING IT, while some pharmaceutical companies make mega-bucks selling you dishonest, life-threatening 'convenience'. Do your homework, research thoroughly. if you want total Freedom, check out NAPRO .. totally NATURAL, SIMPLE and absolutely respects you as the beautiful WOMAN you are. Plus.. ITS FREE (and has a higher success rate than this so-called 'season-ick'. :)
Much better than the old, split personality one. By focusing on the "no medical need to have a monthly period" message, it at least points women in the right direction.
It allows them to bring this up with their MD and, thus, learn that when they use the Pill, regardless of regimen, they do not have menstrual periods for the duration of use.
@TheSophia1986
Except it's not an actual period, it's breakthrough bleeding from hormone withdrawal.
