  • Yes, our padded weapons are practical for blocking. However, many other practice weapons, including modern fencing sabers, have too much flex for effective blocking. In our more recent videos, you can see that our current practice weapons have even less flex than these do. Thanks for the great question.

    Personally though I cannot stand those kinds of weapons. Shinai in my opinion are much better, they actually have weight, so one handed is much more difficult.

  • The weight-per-inch on these swords is actually fairly similar that of shinai. However many shinai are about 40" long. These sword are about 36" long.

    In Kendo the legs are not a valid target. We allow the entire body as a valid target.

    We use prefer to use padded sparring weapons so that we can use full force swings while still minimizing injuries.
