  • All bow to Steven Steam'n Clarke . . . RIP . . . the real deal folks. It all went down hill from his departure (but slowly at first). Now? A pale reflection of what they were and a lot of crappy albums after their first four. Still a great live band but lack the heart and soul, no?

  • Their live shows have always been excellent. I've seen them 7 times. First, 1983 in Albuquerque. They opened for Billy Squire. Squire sucked ass and they blew it away. Last time I saw them was 2009 in Charlotte, NC Still kicking ass. Phil Collin has become one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Paper Sun is an exceptional (somewhat) newer song.

  • lol...this video proves that "57s" make good vocal mics! ;-)

  • Damn Joe was going for it back then... singing his ass off...

  • I wish I was at this concert back in 83!!! I was at their concert in august this year and they still ROCKED!! But dahhhyem!!! These guys at their younger years rocking it out harder!!! Sweats,Guts,Glory!!!

  • i just watched a vid from 2010 and saw them in aug 2011 WHAT HAPPEND TO THE RASPYNESS THE EDGE THE VOICE... U CAN BEARLY HEAR HIM NOW.. THEY WERE GREAT HERE.. THERE GOOD NOW... live ... studio they still kick ass

  • @zlzFUNNYMANzlz Remember he is actually 52. Also count at least 13 albums, and thousands of concerts 'round the planet. But we R agree in 1 thing..., Def Lepps still doing a great music.

  • they were fuckin tough! great video!

  • @NYrockerchick If I'm not mistaken, the moron crew comments on 100% of all videos on youtube.

  • Damn he really belts those notes out!

  • this clip was as old when it was uploaded as the 'live in the round' stuff is now. time just keeps flying...

  • 2 people suck!!!

  • @111111aan LOL yeah 2 people suck LOL

  • @TheHardRockGod Oh ya, it's way faster

  • is it just me or do they play this with a faster beat live than the studio version?

  • This audience has no idea they are watching perfection!!! Best of the leppard. AWESOME!!

  • 1983. The lepps prime!! Rick Allen introduced the cowbell craze in heavy metal!!

  • 1983. The lepps prime!!

  • steve clark rocks!!! R.I.P

  • openING act baCK THEN

  • Too bad they don't perform like this anymore

  • 2 people got fooled

  • Man! I wish all of us were born earlier to see there totally awesome performances...Lucky people who where there.

  • Now compare this with the 93' Sheffield performance!!!...see the difference??..

  • I'm not foolin either...youtube CHEMTRAILS..this is it folks....it started in 1998 24/7..365 spraying worldwide..I found out in 2007..it's taken me 4YEARS to get angry.. there are senators/representatives going before congres telling them this needs to stop..they don't care...Anybody witrh me?I'm not. fu**ing FOOLIN..I'm not waitin till marshal law is declared..CHEMTRAILS/911..overthrow..I like that word..A BUNCH..DEF LEP JACK MURPHY STADIUM..can't top that show..yup..anybody out there?I'm ready

  • @bulitboy Wait. Whaaaaat?

  • Steamin' was great and creative but Phil is one of the most spectacular guitarist of all times not many guitar players have the fury's speedness in the fingers like him.

  • this is before joe elliots hair went blonde and he looked gay

  • Even at this time in their careers, I simply could not take my eyes off Steve & his mastery of the guitar; he was a genius. Classic D.L. at their best. Wolfsky9

  • was this a dvd

  • @wwFmaskedkane1 I think this was an old TV Broadcast from some rock fest with other acts like Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Scorpions.

  • I really like the early years that hard rock stuff from this band and also when Pete willis was in the band . Steve R.I.P

  • OMG its Old Gregg @1:37

  • god how much can steve's guitar get any lower lol

  • one of the greatest power ballads of all time

  • Def Leppard was sure a great young rock band in 1983. They were hungry. It's sad that all good things must come to an end.

  • @atomicozz What players are you talking about that "sucked in the 80's" ??? I'm just curious. If anything, the 80's was the Renaissance of the guitar player and guitar based music. Are you talking about guitar players? I would imagine the 90's were a far worse time period for guitar players.

  • Love this song!

  • what kinda bass is that ? its friken sick

  • @paintballcrazy94 that would be a Hamer

  • Joe's voice was in top form during this tour. He lost a little of it after going into Hysteria. But that can only be expected. He sang like a blowtorch in Leppard's early years.

  • Steve Clark and Phil Collen are the best two guitar players on this fricken planet!!!!

  • I wonder what DL would have been like if they kept Pete ? Phil Fuckin ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wanna see 2 good guitar players... K. K. Downing & Glenn Tipton

  • @RachelStormcrow Hell yeah :D

  • Phil Collen is an awesome guitarist

  • Really? Lukather? DeMartini? Lynch? Malmsteen? Dime? Satch? Vai? Not following you here. Are these not players from the 80's?

  • Not many Bands of the world can wear the flag of their nation and be so proud !!! If I d do so I d be a nazi.

  • i dont know man, lots of great guitarist came out of the 80's

  • Joe elliot looks like wayne gretzky

  • Awesome!

It was when I first saw the Foolin' video that I really fell for Rick Savage, so it's more than a great song for me.

I really want that top that Joe is wearing. No by the way, I want the full Union Jack outfit with the shorts too,

Where on earth can I get that?

  • If you go onto ebay and search for def lep tops - there arent any original pyromania ones around, but there is a company that advertises and they do all the union jack stuff. I got a top for about £10. I think :)

  • Worth a try. Cheers mate!

  • did you try sandyrow in Belfast LOL

  • Excellent performance, and one of the best Def Leppard song in my opinion.

  • @CreatureCore7 yea it is, they were tough back in these days and raw. which is excellent

  • georgez71, he is good but not great.

  • my first concert

def leppard opened for billy squire

  • does phil collin ever get recognized as a greeeeeat guitarist?

  • first time I heard this song on LP I thought thats a dem hard one to sing live. but whats more impressive is that hes pushing 50 and still can sing it in its original tune!

  • my all time favorite song. this is the very song that turned me into a lep fan.

  • Thank for posting this! Amazing. The concert I never got to see as a kid...

  • Best version live...EVER!

  • Def Leppard was the most talented of all the hard Rock bands.

They could create awesome harmonies and melodies along with their rock rifss.

    DEF LEPPARD FOREVER FUCKIN RULE!

  • STEEEVE!!!!!

def leppard ROCKSSS. one of the best bands ever by far

  • steve clark in all of his amazingness.

  • I love old Def Leppard, but dos someone know why I tunes dont have the old stuff?

  • Very disapointed itunes doesn't have the old stuff. There was more tribute covers than actual Def Leppard music! What gives? We should assault itunes with requests for a full catalog...

  • i totally fucking agree. lets do that.

  • what the fyck does phill think he's doing with that fast shit at the end of the solo, it sounds like shit.

    just play the damn song

  • first, shut the hell up. second phil can do whatever the hell he wants. third, don't fucking dis this song or any of the members of def leppard. last but not least, go fuck yourself with a sandpaper dildo covered in razor sharp chards of glass!

  • Have a bad day?

  • nah, just pissed with i tunes

  • oh blow it out your ass there just a fucking band

  • I LOVE IT!

    HOT HOT LEOPARDS!

  • Wow. Seeing footage like this just blows my mind! It reminds me how young they were when they started out. And how young I was when I started listening to them. In some ways it seems like it was a million years ago, but in another way it seems like it was just yesterday. Wild!!

  • Oh boy,oh boy,oh boy!!! Joe...so young...so virile...won't you stay with me tonight?....What kinda hell of a question is that?!...The answer is YES Joe!....lol

  • Ironically, at that age my answer would have been no. I honestly didn't find Joe, or any of the Def Leppard guys for that matter, attractive even tho I loved their music. It wasn't until their Hysteria days that I looked at Joe and thought, "Whoa, he's hot!"

  • yeah at that time, i thought he was cute....but when hysteria came out, whoa!!!!!

  • Really! They were so young and new at it yet they played and performed like they had been doing it for years! They all sounded good and they sounded just like the record sounded! Ehey have aged sooooo fine! I would still stay with them tonight or any other night!!! No f f f foolin'!!!

  • Yep. Just like fine wine. They definitely got better with age, in every way!!! I agree that even at this young age they played and performed like pro's that had been doing it for years. I love how Joe could work the audience even then, tho he got better as time progressed. Pretty cool I think.

  • This IS a HOT performance--major energy!!!

  • This is awesome where does the live 1983 videos come from ?

  • Badass! Def Leppard in '83 was the shit.

  • I was 20 when I saw them live in '83.

    So awesome!

  • Holy shit! Where did you get this?? Man, this rocked!!

  • Did you catch them when they supported Billy Squier that year?

  • I still miss Steve C. This lineup smoked

  • yea, my heart still breaks and aches and hurts for Steve!! RIP, angel!!!!

  • steve was playin too fast in beginning then slowed down

  • Def Leppard and Van Halen were two of the biggest Bands in '83. Def Leppard sold out Detroit in a half hour. Faster than even led zeppelin

  • the letting it breathe part!!!

  • this is one of the best performances where the song Doesn't sound rushed they let the song breathe yay!!! they didn't really do this untill

    the hysteria world tour

  • The song, that made me to a Def Leppard Fan.

  • i met the whole def leppard boy i was happy.

and rick allen gave me his drum stick and i gave it to my brother, and phil sold me his signature model jackson guitar. And they gave it to us because we have a band called THE FLASH 4

  • this song made me into a Def Lep fan too!! saw the video... i was amazed... i thought to myself.... what a kick ass song!! fa fa fa foolin!! xD

  • Best I ever heard them was on the High And Dry Tour. Santa Monica Civic 1981.

  • he's a little pitchy.

  • Favorite Leppard song

  • Sweet, phil googd guitar player.

  • wonderful wonderful

  • guitar is amazing in this song

  • still working.pasi from finland.

  • FaFaFaFoolin!! The terror twins reign!!

  • These guys carved their own little spot in Rock history! any of the songs on Pyromania or High-n-Dry bring back so many memories and good feelings..

  • Great times!!! great music, amazing bands in the 80´s
