Good point - what does do my head in though is when valid blue badge holders park up in a supewrmarket space, then let the able bodied passenger go in the shop whilst they sit and read the paper! - VERY COMMON. ASDA are now clamping down on this I believe in Merseyside 'if you're not getting out - then MOVE'. - just my penny worth
You have a good case, many people share it, personally I don't have a view on this, but I feel it would go some way to stop abuse of blue badges. Keep well.
Its not only old people are that disabled! No doubt if you saw me get out of my car you would assume I was using my grandmas but no its my badge. I am sick of people assuming only old people deserve disability badges. I have no desire to display my photo on the front, if a traffic warden wants to look at it he can after asking me which has happened several times and I have no problem with it.
Quite why some blue badge holders are willing to give up some much of their privacy is beyond me. Now I hear councils are trying to get the badges with embedded RFID radio chips so they can be more easily "scanned" through the windscreen by a warden and checked off against a database. Which also allows forgers to easily get all the blue badge info the same way. Keeping personal details and photo on reverse makes sense with the new inspection powers. As a forger would not know the holder's name.
Actually recently-passed legislation now gives parking wardens, council wardens, pcsos and the rest legal powers to demand inspection of a blue badge photo on threat of a Penalty charge notice. I value my privacy and have no desire to have to display identifiable details to use my blue badge. Forgers can easily put any photo on a cloned badge anyway.
I agree totally with fossoway on this subject. its such an abused system that its fallen into disrepute. I doubt every driver I see these days with a disabled badge, I appreciate what fossoway is saying and it seems almost common sense that the photo should be on the front. I also heard that the traffic warden is not allowed to ask to see the back/picture and if he does ask you can refuse! seems very easy to resolve so why is it taking so long?
The best answer is to carry a small screwdriver and accidentally run it along the side of thier car. It is the only way these selfish people get the message.
if you can walk around a shopping centre all day im sure you can walk a few metres from your car. most disabled people take the piss with there illness. i see them walking all afternoon shopping away and they cant even walk just a few more steps to the car park?
I totally agree with what you are saying, maybe we will help solve this problem one day. My brother Gary McFarlane is a blue badge holder, he is creating a site called bluebadgeroute (dotcom) and will try and make people more aware of the problem. Thank you for posting

Sparky8620. It makes you feel that way, but us disabled people must retain our dignity, and let our Ager pass.
