I'm sorry people, Eric may be good looking but there is no way that I can root for him and Sookie. Especially after he chained and dog collared her in his basement then helped the King drain her. He may have some feelings for her. But, he's been using her to get his revenge on the King all season long. Sexy comes in all forms and Hoyt is the sexiest guy on the show along with Alcide. If she get with someone next season it should be Alcide cause Eric's an ass.

Before Eric even fricken chained her, he had to talk to Pam, and when they talked he said he was willing to die for her and would not let Russel take her and all that stuff. Pam was trying to tell him if he doesn't take her and everything, all this bad shit would happen. So, before he grabbed Sookie, Eric had a long thought about everything. So, he had a very good reason for doing what he did.

Eric had two choices: wait for Russell to come and kill him, thus leaving Pam, Sookie, and basically the world in danger, or come up with one last desperate plan, according to which he dies anyway, but at least everybody else including Sookie is safe.

@trixiedoor The show has shown that younger Vampires can outsmart and defeat older Vampires. Pam immobilized Bill with silver spray and Bill managed to overtake Eric and toss him in the cement. Pam could have silver sprayed him allowing Eric enough time to stake him. Someone made Russell.  So there are older more powerful vampires so no one is safe. Eric's quest for vengeance had put alot of people in danger.

Russell is likely one of the oldest around. i say that, because their seems to be a lot of vampires doing what ever they want, including killing each other, in this show. it'd probably be pretty difficult to last that long in the world of vampires, unless they live under a rock

@gerryschristine The reason why he chained her that way was because, for the plan to work, he NEEDED her to believe he was really selling her out to Russell. Of course ideally he should have asked her before, but she had just told him she didn't trust him and she knew what he wanted blah blah blah, so he probably thought she was likely to NOT agree, or even believe him... so yes, he did take the decision for her, even if it hurt them both, cause he believed IT WAS THE ONLY WAY...

After she woke up & found out Eric was sacrificing himself she saw his reasoning & couldn't let him die. By her action of saving Eric understood what he did. bill wanted Eric 2 die, tried 2 stop her. Sookie gave Eric her blood 2 recover. She knew he was trying 2 save them all from Russell. Sook is angry about Eric's change of mind 2 let Russell live.

Although he may be gaining a heart this season and, at least, feeling conflicted about what he's doing, but he was still using Sookie in order to get his revenge on Russell or to kill Russell. May I add that I'm also angry with Bill for going along with the whole thing in the basement. Both of them are in the doghouse. Men who chain women they like in their torture chambers aren't heroes.

Sookie was not sacrificed for the greater good - Eric is the one who tried 2 do that. Eric was dyeing with Russell for the greater good of everyone else. Eric/Russell did not drain Sook beyond recovery. Russell because he would want to use her again. Eric because he wanted her to live even if he had to die with Russell to save her.

Rational reasoning: Eric knew that in a fight he was gonna die at the hands of Russell. he knew Russell would SURELY come for him. He couldn't think of anything to save himself. He refused to sell out Sookie and didn't even consider using her until Pam said Russel was after her anyway. and if Eric died, nothing would stop him from getting her.
