  • PUNK ROCK or on I am like it

  • fuck, this's not PUNK ROCK.. horses, horses, horses, boring!!!!

  • @janeajuve Nope... it's called protopunk... they never defined their style as "punk rock" nor do bands usually refer to themselves as part of any certain genre.. If you're searching for any non-mainstream music that has gilded with age you should really read about it and not be prejudiced. Salutari de peste Prut!

  • @tinribs73

    Thank you!

  • Eterna ,eterna,fundamental!!!!Horses...

  • "Up there, there is a sea. The sea's the possibility."

  • i like ponies

  • this shit kicks

  • I saw her live in a bar ..I sat in a booth--on mushrooms--a mistake ...

I heard it all..but, I dont remember anything but excited emotions and extreme incredulous gratitude at my opportunity at being right there with her there

20 feet away. She was peaking--box office wise--then, also..so this was HER choice--a bar concert..

my friend who stuttered stopped stuttering during this "high time"..she said Halucinogins did that To her ..and that was secondary to that Patti experience:)

  • Not really. Man obviously likes sweet music. :)

  • Dammit its 2011 and I am still listening to this, what a great song! Patti Smith is such a huge inspiration for me, my band and all female vocalists out there. If you can find it in your hearts please check out my band Hey You we are pop/punk band and have a video out and would really appreciate any input you have:)

Youtube search: hey you band taking over

  • the live version is even better.thats rare

  • Oh wow, I have only ever heard the broken social scene version of this song, wasn't even aware that it was a cover :/

  • legend that you are 4 ever patti

  • I first heard this song from that Millenium episode. What a trip!

  • my brother hates patti smith its the only way i could get him out of my room

  • @Gears408

    shoot the bastard

  • @ccipollini1984 nah he gets over it but he still hates it

  • An amazing collection of ultrapretentious fake pseudopoetry. Cheap imitations of Dylan, Reed and Rimbaud. I'd prefer Jim Morrison anyday- He at least had some originality...

  • @MemphisBlueAgain "The Doors? Jim Morrison? He's a drunken buffoon posing as a poet. Give me the Guess Who. They've got the courage to be drunken buffoons, which makes them poetic. "

  • @mistersnaredrum Alots of poets actually are drunkards so that's not an argument. A buffoon? The whole Greenwich Village where ol' Patti came from is a joke. I would have to look hard for anyone who thinks she is a great poet. But I admit she is very popular amoung senior punkers and emos. She's just a blown up anorexic.

  • @MemphisBA finally... poetry have judges!! I miss those days when free common people DID THE RESEARCH OF THEIR OWN SOULS (now we have books, and critics -who quite oftenly have big lack of talent-, and cool, and sane, lists, etc), THEY GAVE NOT A FUCK about the "old-haters" who just seemed to look for the so-called mistakes and fails.

Today we just seems to have a remedy of life!!! (now is not sane to do drugs but war)

This world needs more "pseudo-poets" than "super-critics"...clever-asses?

  • @kakdakaktush yeah

  • @kakdakaktush yeah oh ya-ya ye yoey

  • @kakdakaktush you wrote that when you were coming down off acid, didn't you. I agree with yr sentiment all the same!

  • @mistersnaredrum hah, that's from almost famous

  • Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe are very essential links to the current music scene and musicians obession with using S&M in videos and concerts to entice viewers.

The rock group Rammstein is just an commercialized glorification of the same genre of lifestyle art that Robert Mappelthorpe originated.

The only difference is that Rammstein ripps off other artists and then ruins any real message in their work.

Patti and Robert are the original provocatuers of deep thinking and mindfulness.

  • Patti Smith ........There is not much to say other than ....you really touch....feel....oblivion is a realm of reality! I love this woman!

  • you would have to be wasted to like this trash !!!!

  • Too strange to live, too rare to die <3

  • listening to this song, hurt, philadelphia streets and antony and the jonsons all at the same time is so surreal and strangely beautiful, disconcerting, terrifying and strange.

  • Millenium was an awesome show....great scene too!!!

  • @kevinkav

    that was a stupid comment.

  • @ccipollini1984 Yep,it was an entirely stupid comment ;)

  • at minute 4.00 there's a picture of Ramones not Patti !

  • this lady rocks!

  • perturbante cancion.. inflama la locura

  • My soul for a threesome with Janis Joplin and Patti Smith!

  • @Victorblackpage Why not add PJ Harvey to the mix?

  • @Victorblackpage Your soul alone isn't enough...

  • The song´s name is "Land"

  • @nachostereo I've been listening to this album for so long and trying to turn other people on to her, but you're the first person to be enough into her, that you knew what the actual title to this anthem is. Thank you.

  • Patti Smith una de las mas grandes femeninas de la historia del rock.....

  • Kim Gordan's idol.

  • started laughing hysterrrrriclee

  • cudowny utwór. widać po nim doskonale jak muzyka obecnie obniżyła swój poziom

  • I am gonna se her, eric clapton, ringo starr, the eagles this summer....

  • @antirasict245 Kinda envy you.

  • Este tema me encanta !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • The queen of Punk...

  • GREAT.......greetings from italy

  • Read her memoir "Just Kids"- you'll get the Dylan, Morrison, Joplin and Todd Rungren connections, plus her foundation as a visual artist with fellow brilliant artist Robert Mapplethorpe as they reacted and took over the scene from Warhol's Pop 60's and became the major influence that led to the nihilst/Punk 70's- a must for any student of late 20th Art....(apologies if this sounds a little pompous..., but Patti is the Poet Laureate for the millenium transition)

  • @sking55 Then you know Patti and Robert's relationship was that of sister and brother!

  • YouTube, bringing the 1970's experience to households all over the world !!.

  • génial

  • Yeah that scene in Millennium introduced me to this song. After that I started to play it when I was DJing at the bar.

  • who's got the boy?

  • Patti is so much better than God.

  • @Godlesspanther thats because Patti Smith's real.

  • @marco18p I like this because she is a genius, she is still ahead of the times.

  • Patti is a great woman, and very inspirational:) I'm reading her book 'just kid's'and i'm just over halfway through.. I find her amazing spirit for life inspiring & the little thing's she say's that show without meaning to how thoughtful and caring a person she is. So talented in more way's than many... I feel like i'm prying into her life whilst reading the book but this is obviously what she is giving to all... such different day's she grew up in & such great day's she made of them..

  • Powerful poetry!

  • love it love it for 35 years.

  • Love it, love it, for 35 years!

  • one of my all-time favorite songs. at least top five for sure.

  • 14! Bought the brand new Horses Album & have been hooked since!

  • man this woman blows my fuckin mind

  • @RedxRainbow Good man, go for it!

  • is this song good aye?

  • I was 16 when this was released. I bought it. My hippie art teacher said it was demonic. That's when I knew it was good. I've also met her. She's very sweet.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy where did you meet her? she'seen my idol snce 1975 yo

  • @bruce369able I met her in a random encounter while walking home on Market St. in SF. I saw her come out of this store called Crystal Path. I did a double take and she was so sweet. I was a blubbering fool. I first heard her in 1974 in my home town which was a hick place. She held my hand to her heart as I blubbered on. Her son Jackson was with her and she introduced me.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy such a nice story!

  • @MrMonsterstiffy Ha ha, cool! Have you read her book? It's a privilege to read for sure.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy I wish I could meet Patti Smith. I admire her so much!!!

  • Johnny comes from a character in William Burroughs' work "The Wild Boys." This piece demonstrates Patti's ability to put herself into a situation, and to identify with a boy being raped. He envisions horses in a dissociative experience. Patti's flow is so stunning and remains so to this day.

  • @RedxRainbow

I wish there were more fucking 14 yr olds like you

  • This song is perfect!... I love Patti Smith

  • The Schwabinger Zeben, bottles on every table with candlesticks flowering into elaborate wax bouquets n patti thundering out of every corner - horses, horses, horses - n everybody out of their heads, laughing like craaaazeeey. Because the night belonged to lovers.

  • wtf

  • I'm pretty sure Horses is symbolic for sex...

  • If Patti Smith and Jim Morrison had gotten together and had a baby they would have given the world a great gift..

  • @rubentherude u read my mind

  • @rubentherude the only person who Patti wanted to have a baby with was Robert Mapplethorpe but alas, he was gay! She loved him in a romantic sense, he loved her like his sister.

  • @RedxRainbow

who gives if ur 14, no one cares bro

  • i just recently found this song.... it's good, very good

  • @RedxRainbow good on you kid!

  • that was just AMAZING. I was surfing on youtube, searchin' for her songs, see if it's worth downloading her discography... it absolutely is!!

  • when shes says "horses" is she refering to heroin?

  • Iggy & Patti could be the couple of the century. if only they knew.

  • Brilliant.

  • the millennium segment where they used this song is amazing. The chick is screaming and the bombs blow stuff up while she's tripping or something. Very cool moment in cinema.

  • @snow1snow1 So right.

  • @snow1snow1

I remember that! I discovered this song because of that episode.

  • @snow1snow1 : That scene introduced me to Patti Smith. It was like a biblical revelation.

  • @snow1snow1 That was an excellent show!

  • "Aw pretty boy - can't you show me nothin' but SURRENDER?"

  • I don't know you Patti...But I know I am in love with you.

  • Una poeta desde mi adolescencia hasta estos días...una representación de la transgresión en más de un sentido...la amo en blanco y negro obviamente.

  • watusi :)

  • watusi

  • i want to do the watoozi

  • This song is like spiritual caffine to me. It fires all my creative energies and pulls me into somesort of divine trance.
