A flea market is a type of bazaar where inexpensive or secondhand goods are sold or bartered. A Wal*Mart is practically a retail chain that has as much power over other businesses as Disney Corp. has over other movie franchises. I didn't mean to exclude people outside the U.S.
I like to collect beatles stuff. at the moment i am organizing all the beatle videos on youtube in my playlists. I have over 2000 videos so far. Come check out my Beatles Channel, will ya.
Beatleologist, it's ICE CREAM. I'm not going to waste OUR time arguing about it. I'm not a Beatles purist - at least, in this case. I THINK it's a nice idea to have a flavor named after Lennon. Afterall, aside from his music, there wouldn't be much left to remember him by...not by US, but people blind to John's talent and wisdom.
And as for NIKE and CONVERSE, I was upset by the use of the music and John's art being put to use...on a SHOE.
Maybe I'm not a complete Lennon purist, but be mad at Corporate America, not me. I do value your opinion, and I appreciate your views on this. Not so much the personal attacks, but I digress...
You know as well as I do that John Lennon despised the use of commercial music to sell things and you know that's the last thing The Beatles wanted ESPECIALLY John Lennon to have his song sell ANYTHING. Do you have a box of LUVS'S too?
By you buying that product you did exactly what he was against. Some fan.
You can "sugar coat" it all you want by comparing it to people selling state shaped Corn Flakes on eBay if it makes you feel better but you know this is just wrong.
Ah, yes, that thought had crossed my mind, but I consider the ice cream flavor a tribute. It's the IDEA of Imagining World Peace that's selling - not just Lennon's idea, but that of millions, everywhere, rather than the song. I see what you're saying though.
Now, if you want to argue the use of "Revolution" in a NIKE shoes commercial, then I'm with you 100%.
Putting John's signature and logo on an ice cream container is a tribute? Please, don't try to justify it like that and cheapen the word. It's not selling an IDEA in the least. How many of you thought of world peace when eating this and did something about it? Why not put his name on toilet paper then imagine world peace while on the crapper?
If NIKE put the same thing on shoes you'd be cool with it then? They did it sell fucking shoes the same as Ben and Jerry's did it to sell ice cream, ZERO DIFFERENCE. Did Ben and Jerry donate money to peace organizations for EVERY container of ice cream they sold? If so, show proof.
I was comparing keeping the ice cream bucket to the oddballs that sell weird things on eBay. No sugar-coating, here. Just poking fun at myself for hoarding whatever Beatles-related find and I can get my hands on.
i feel better there are others out there like me lol cool video
