Bruce and the E-Street Band never cease to amaze me. You seriously cant top there live performances. Its no wonder concert tickets are almost impossible to get when they come around. This is just magic. The band wont ever be the same without Danny and Clarence, but i know the rest of the band will continue on the legacy. Music this classic will live on forever
I would have to say JUNGLELAND is springsteen's best song - I call it an ANTHEM because it is that incredible. Do you think it is about a drug deal gone bad? I love any comments on the meaning of the song.
@MsSpeedykat Maybe not a drug gone bad song. Possibly. But it is more about gang life. And what is going on that night. The rat meets a girl and they go out. And then he gets killed. Maybe for drugs i dont know. I believe he gets killed just for being in a gang. That always happens and I believe bruce wanted to capture that. And no one cares. Every one just forgets as the ambulance drives away. So its about gang life and how death occurs alot in gang life and no one cares.
I would have to say JUNGLELAND is springsteen's best song - I call it an ANTHEM because it is that incredible. Do you think it is about a drug deal gone bad? I love any comments on the meaning of the song.
Perhaps "one of" the best live performances Bruce has ever done. The whining is way cool and the lyrics intense!!!! Proud to be a Jersey Bruce fan, the connection makes all the difference, Jersey Rocks!!!
One of the best tours before the band split. I saw them a dozen times during it. This brought back great memories when Bruce rarely performed w/o that signature bandana. Imagine how much better this song would have sounded, had he let Clarence in on it w/his magical Sax. No band will ever match the caliber of Bruce w/the E-Street. Danny's loss was hard, but Clarence's loss is Immense. I don't doubt that they will rise up from these hard dealt ashes & play again. Never the same, but again.
@nacnud1100 Hey now, you can't write off a whole generation just like that! I'm 19 years old and have loved The Boss from as far back as i can remember. My dad loves him, and passed it on to me. I've seen him four times, and would love to see him more. It's a shame your son doesn't understand how incredible Springsteen's music really is, but you can't paint my whole generation with the same brush!
this is what its all about. i hope this go's to X.M.-Radio. E Street channel is the ONLY reason i have satellite radio. Bruce, Bob D.,Bob S. and the Eagles ALL LEGENDS. oh i almost forgot glenn beck can sit on a cactus bare ass.
Stunning. This is Springsteen at his finest. It's like listening to a mini opera - form the opening wails to the repeated crescendo's and lulls, the emotions wash over the listener like the ocean's tide. A love song of epic proportion as only Springsteen could write, sing and play. Does music gets any better than this? I think not. Simply, stunning.
Ya ever notice that "classic rock radio" plays the Other BS--Bob Seger--100 times more often than The Boss? Why the hell is that when Springsteen is at least A Thousand Times more talented than Seger (or anyone else for that matter)!
If that song were for me, I don't know which would be there sooner , my heart or my feet. They would be racing each other. I know one thing is for sure. If I were fortunate
enough to have your love, I would never leave you for another.
Did a pianocover of this awsome song a long time ago now;) It's right here in "video response", would love to get some comments from real Springsteen fans to know what you think;)
This is my favourite bruce song, no doubt about it. It always brings me to a blubbering state, every time. This is a great performance but I think he touched other skies with it during the 78 tour. Wonderful to watch all the same.
Did a piano cover of this and put it up as a video response here if anyone is interested in a new take of the song;) together with Thunder Road this must be the best song ever written.. The piano playing at least gives me chills;) Thanks for uploading!
@Stevetheperformer It's 99 cents on iTunes - entire Born to Run album is $7.92. When released in 1975, it put him on the cover of Time and Newsweek, *the same week*, first time that had happened. Why? 4, maybe 5 of Rock's greatest songs: Thunder Road Backstreets Born to Run Jungleland She's the One And 3 that are merely Great, but help make the whole far more than the sum of the parts. Night 10th Ave Freeze-Out Meeting Across the River Pure *genius*. Bruce is the 20th Century Mozart.
@Anna00555 I think that Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out deserves to be grouped with the previous four that you mentioned. His live performances make that song amazing, especially the Live in New York version.
Unfortunately the magic is gone from his current shows. Just watched Live from Hyde Park and even though it was a great show, it lacks the magic Bruce put into his earlier shows.
I was at this show in Toronto. Basically there were alot of new Springsteen converts due to the popularity of Born in the USA released one month earlier. I had seen him on the River tour in 80 4 years earlier on a cold December night in Buffalo. This tour obviously had a different tone to it, more celebratory and fun. Awesome night
I know, All people hear is "Born In The USA" and they think it's patriotic and it's not. Where I used to live in Fall River,MA every Augest they have a "Fall River celebrates America" parade. They were blasting Born In the USA..lol. They don't realize the song is about the Vietnam war and people dying in it and they think it's about being born in the usa.Sad.

It's funny you say that, because while I agree, some of his stuff from the eighties, while mostly great, doesn't transcend decades as well as stuff off of Born To Run or Darkness on the Edge of Town.
I love Bruce's stuff today but I would agree with you that he was at his best from 1975-1981...the best show of the 15 or so that I've seen was "The River" tour on July 29, 1981 (Richfield Coliseum, Cleve. OH)
I have seen bruce over 30 times starting from 1975. WOuld have disagreed until having had the chance to look at all of the vidios on youtube. Noquestion he was at his best in the early to mid 80's. Still the Boss though!
For those who don't know, this is from the Born in the USA Tour in (84-85) all the shows were filmed professionally by NFL Films so the vaults are filled with stuff like this. There is so much more that has never come to light.
NFL FILMS did not film this. They didnt start filming his shows till the european leg of his tour in stadiums in the summer of 1985. This concert was in Toronto in the summer of 1984. This video was stolen off the video line feed to the video screens in the Toronto arena. And yes there are miles and miles of concert footage that NFL Films has in the "vaults ".
AWESOME, TOUCHING!

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Have u lied? Have u stolen? Jesus said if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with here in your heart. have u done that?
If God judge’s u by the Ten Commandments will u be innocent or guilty? Heaven or Hell? Does this concern you?
Do u need a Savior from your sins?

For those who don't know, this is from the Born in the USA Tour in (84-85) all the shows were filmed professionally by NFL Films so the vaults are filled with stuff like this. There is so much more that has never come to light.

NFL FILMS did not film this. They didnt start filming his shows till the european leg of his tour in stadiums in the summer of 1985. This concert was in Toronto in the summer of 1984. This video was stolen off the video line feed to the video screens in the Toronto arena. And yes there are miles and miles of concert footage that NFL Films has in the "vaults ".
