civics really aren't bad cars. i used to be a hater too, i have had 7 turbo DSMs FWD and AWD. i hated on honduhs all day long. i lost my last GSX in my divorce and have a 95 civic (the price was right) now. no it's that fastest car out there but it handles great (i put in a tien suspension) and 16" volk rims with falken tires, and an ebay turbo setup ... i must say i am happily suprised. no i can't whoop on mustangs yet or anything but that car moves and still gets like 25 mpg.

VTEC is just a buzzword, like Hemi for Chrysler nowadays. Even in its heyday (the mid to late 90's), VTEC did not do much performance wise when it still got slaughtered by actual engines, such as turbo'd, supercharged, V8's, etc. Besides, Honda didn't even invent VTEC, or even i-VTEC.

SR20VE, header/intake/exhaust/underdrive pulleys/SR16VE N1 camshafts/tuning, then later on when I have enough for turbocharging, I'll reduce the compression to around 8.5 and boost it. 250-300WHP is decent enough...

Yea all motor doesn't mean stock. It means no forced induction and no spray. I drive an srt-4 and stock honda's don't keep up. You build one though ad they're quick as he'll cause they weigh as much as an empty beer can lol.

VTEC is just a buzzword, like Hemi for Chrysler nowadays. Even in its heyday (the mid to late 90's), VTEC did not do much performance wise when it still got slaughtered by actual engines, such as turbo'd, supercharged, V8's, etc. Besides, Honda didn't even invent VTEC, or even i-VTEC.

SR20VE, header/intake/exhaust/underdrive pulleys/SR16VE N1 camshafts/tuning, then later on when I have enough for turbocharging, I'll reduce the compression to around 8.5 and boost it. 250-300WHP is decent enough...

Too bad Honda didn't invent variable valve timing, variable valve timing was made for emissions and fuel efficiency, and Nissan beat the K20 to the punch with the SR20VE which included intake and exhaust variable valve lift and timing four years before Honda came out with the K20. No one fears Honda, VTEC is a buzzword like the Chrysler Hemi on new trucks and cars. By the way, I'm so GayDM ain't shit.

This system uses two camshaft profiles and electronically selects between the profiles. This was the first system of its kind.

Fiat actually patented variable valve timing before Honda did. Honda was just the first to introduce it to an economy vehicle, the Civic. The reason Honda could do so was because they made it simpler by using oil pressure to lock the cams. And yes, Nissan's NeoVVL, with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust profiles as well as variable lift (a.k.a. i-VTEC) came out four whole years before Honda's. Seriously, kids nowadays...
