He was diagnosed with cancer in his eyes at a very young age and had to have them amputated. It had a lot to do with why he played the guitar on his lap - his parents didn't know how to hold it, and he couldn't see others hold it, so he trained himself.
I agree with paulybrus1. Paulini's version of the song sucked!!! Jeff Healys version is a classic and always will be. Paulini ruined it, that is why her version was only popular in Austrailia. RIP Jeff!
