Truth is, they have had 44 years to perfect the GUI and we have returned to being dependent on human computers, programmers that sit around auto error reports and rewrite already bloated code. Patching code causes "program bloat". Apple software is written by less people but works.Windows is bloated, with 8 gig RAM it works well. Printer/device drivers kill linux. The US Gov.has the good stuff

I just installed Linux on my computer. Ubuntu to be exact. It was working great for a few days, then I tried to boot it and I got hundreds of errors and it wiped Linux off of my computer. It all depends on what your going to use the operating system for.
