Too bad that trumpet player at the beginning wimped out and didn't play the second higher note at the end of the solo. Other than that the weaknesses seem to be color guard and battery, I think you played well
@InconspicuousJohn I noticed that as well. Have you seen the Fresno State premiere performance of this show? Search for Fresno State Bulldog Band 2006. The trumpet solo is played as a duet and not only is it played an octave higher. One of the guys actually screeches up to the high note you were referring to.
my band did this song this year and sorry to say this but our sound quality is way better than this maybe this music level is just to hard for you. if your gona play something play it right.
@hornguy04: Hey Richard, this is Jennifer, and you are absolutely right, I got those years mixed up and now I remember. Most of what makes Merced easy to forget is the crappy weather we had each year. But the one I remember the most is Pacific Grove/Monterey, not quite sure why though.
I never thought I would say this, but I really miss doing that. :( Fiddler on the roof was an awesome show, that clarinet soloist is super-awesomeness!! And don't forget we won Showmanship Sweepstakes in Merced for Fiddler on the Roof, (cuz we did our field show on a basketball court.). But I still think Gladiator is my favorite
@But4Y I have a video of Enigma, Power, and Fiddler but not Gladiator and they are only on VHS. :/
Waterworld was a good show but the band was not nearly as good as it was back when GW did "Waterworld" for the first time back in 1998. That was the last time Golden West took the grand sweepstakes at the Visalia Band Review. My sister was in the colorguard then and my mother designed the uniforms. What an amazing year that was. =)
@But4Y The four shows I was in were "Enigma", "Gladiator", "Power", and "Fiddler on the Roof" respectively. We won sweepstakes for some southern band review with the "Gladiator" and that was pretty cool. We almost won sweepstakes at the Merced band review for "Power" but missed it by half a point. :(
@hornguy04 i do take pride in our band and do hope the slakers quit but why lie? Our band has to step it up i want at least one grandsweepstakes badge on my lettersmen im almost positive u have one.
@But4Y we had one grand sweepstakes during my sophomore year with the "Gladiator show" back in 2000. I still don't think you get the point... being honest about your bands abilities or ambitions is one thing, but flat out insulting them is another... did you even see the comments before he removed them?
Who ever is getting mad at ssbbmaster u clearly dont kno our band if it wernt 4 drumline id quit our band needs to step it up even though this was our worst show they could b the best i havent lost hope but its slowly disintegrating:(
@But4Y Telling me I don't know the band is bull crap. I've watched the band since I've graduated many years ago and yes it has gone downhill. However, I have seen worse shows. I feel the show from 1999 (the years before I was a freshman) was GW's weakest show and despite how the band is now, they have not performed that poorly since i left the school. My point was that comments were made that I found offensive and insulting. It's unnecessary...
@But4Y I believe you should take pride in your band, NO MATTER WHAT. If there are members are slacking off and don't seem to care, let them be... hope that just choose not to return the next year and make the best of what you've got.
@ssbbmaster i know what goes on! im so happy im out of this band! i wish i wasnt but the band doesnt care!! and yes i get angry, but i dont go out on the side line and not do anything, i try to help the section i WAS in get better. but its to late band is a past memory for me! HAHA romers spread fast, every knows you think you perfect! my friends on drumline tell me all the new stuff going down!
@ssbbmaster33 i am apart of this band also! and i see how you act, you broke a brand new drum head cause of your anger, you also throw your drum and sit on it! you may be the original drum captin, but i think you were the worst!! you have no room to talk mr. perfect!!
@ssbbmaster You clearly have no pride in the band you are a part of. The band wasn't perfect while I was at GW either, but I don't go around telling people I was the only that cared or was any good. I don't know who you are, but I can tell you're being arrogant and rude to others members of your band. You've built up quite a reputation for yourself and it doesn't look positive from my angle. Do you really think you're all that great? From what I can tell, you're not as good as you think.
Admittedly, the band has gone down hill quite a bit since I was in it (2004 graduate), but I still enjoy their shows enough to videotape them and post them on youtube.
wow who ever is saying we did a horrible job then why are you watching, do you really have no other life than sit here and sit here and criticize us, seriously we worked our butts off so you go out there and do it better
This has got to be the worst Rise Of the Samurai Warrior performance yet... The footwork is atrocious, phasing was heard at every phrase, horrible spacing; I could not make out most of the forms, and there was no impact whatsoever in the music.

@mocha20121 I wasn't in this band. I merely recorded it. Congratulations on your band sounding better, humility is difficult to come by these days.
