ppitm is right. at least the old t-54 and even the 62's didnt automatically get their turret blown off when they were hit. they are usually salvagable when knocked out, but a 72 up? forget it. everyone dies and the tank dies also. the ruskies don't make tough tanks like they used to. never see a t-72 that has been hit and still has its turret.
@MURSIXX SAM we are talking anti-tank. not SAM's, talking about anti-tank missiles and rockets Sweden has always made top of the line anti-tank systems that's why the USA buys into them.
@MURSIXX Israel is not part of NATO, any tank can be killed or knocked out. the USA has lost some Abrams. but there crews always lived not 1 man has died while in a Abrams.
Speaking of Israel they used Sherman tanks to kill T-55's so...ya.... lol.
no tank is perfect, but a tank that can keep it's crew alive to fight another day is a good tank.
But the Tankmen of Panzerwaffe did not know it. They shot down a lot more Shermans than were killed by them. One Tiger (Michael Wittmann's PzKpfw. VI) has destroyed a whole division. ))
I never said the Sherman was the best tank. I was pointing out that, the Sherman tank was still able with some upgrades to stop a much newer tanks during the 6 day war of 1968, again i'm pointing out that no tank is perfect.
Also you need to learn history, Michael Wittmann never Commander a PzKpfw. VI) aka Panzer 4 he commanded a TIGER TANK a PzKpfw VI.
Do NOT change the subject again, I never said "the Sherman is best tank!" it wasn't.
This is how the TOW 2 works it sends a charge down into the tank and blows it up. I just spent the last 5 years working on this system. I have fixed and used this system the new system is called a SABER missile system.
The tank is partialy dissassemled, parts are unscrewed in oder to make with kind of impressive vid.. The tank is also pretty old...which construction is about 40 or 50 years old
I wouldn't say always, but it's very common for them to exhibit the Jack-In-The-Box effect due to how the turret is designed to attach to the chassis.
ok, this is silly. the tank was packed with explosives for a nice showdown. the missile's shaped charge is the first explosion, the second blast is bullshit.
Your an idiot the TOW2b has two shaped charges that point downward so they penetrate the top of the tank. The missile automatically aims about 10ft above where the gunner aims and has a magnetic sensor that knows when to blow up its freakin magic dude dont call bs on something you know nothing about.
Apparently most of you never heard of operation DESERT STORM!! the enemy tanks were completely destroyed like on this video by the Allied Forces,Great Britain, and America vs the Iraqi Republican Guard, besides the Iraqis ditching some of their vehicles we destroyed the rest(T55,T72,and the T80),it's a good thing their tanks were junk, only made the job easier.lol
No doubt the TOW can deal with a old T-62, but this is made up to impress the public..
I dunno what is blowing up (i suppose its ~10kg of RDX+fuel), but its definitely not tank ammo.. search some combat vids to see how tank ammo blows, looks completely different
there are two explosions, at first the tow missle, then i think, an explosion from the inside of the tank. when you look you see the burning from inside!
THis is NOT fake!! A TOW IIb has 2 cone shaped charges facing down...when it is over the tank it deonates...forcing the hot plasma gases into the top of the tank..where there is no reactive armor...into the tank...expoding the fuel and munitions inside..and the Russians or Arabs in the tank too..LOL

It looks like there was a secondary explosion that came from inside the tank.
Does anyone know if there was explosive inside the tank or not?

@nomadnametab Russians makes good tanks,NATO just makes better weapons. :)
Sweed's are fine example also they make all there Missile able to take ut any Russian made tank.
Dogmeat1950 11 months ago
@Dogmeat1950
Sweed's have nothing like Russian last generation man-portable weapon (both AT and SAM).
Our systems like AT-14 Spriggan or SA-18 Grouse is much better any Saab Bofors Dynamics production specimens.
It takes a few seconds + Google for make sure that.

They have a "top line" among NATO's producers a possible, but You should not be too sure.
The Israelis had thought that they have the "very" protected tanks. And what?

Its not filled with explosives, but probably does have tank ammunition inside it. That would be realistic in a combat situation

How do they keep the shaped charge pointed down, and how does the missle/operater know the exact moment to blow up?

This is what happens when the round fired penetrates the tank and hits the ammo(kaboom!!!)

This is fake!
Whay the hell did the tank explode?!
Ammo?! NO WAY! This is testing not combat. who would place ammo for thousands of dollars in a tank youre going to shoot at?
1) this is too expensive
2) in testing to blow a tank up is not reasonable, due to cant see the effect of the missile (experts need to see all details)
3) tanks are usually used several times, repaired and used again to save money
4) the resulted explosion could harm people
5) ammo aint blowing like that
Rastakzzz 4 years ago
To explain it as simple as possible te TOW 2Be was designed to explode over the weakest point of a tank. aim shoot track turret destroy.
