Kill an R1?? haha sure. I like DRZ's, but I dont think "killing" an R1 is something a DRZ will do. ever. Sorry. I don't even know why I felt the need to comment, BUT that caught my attention and even made me chuckle.
it will kill and R1 though twisty tight roads not because it is a powerhouse just because its so light and nimble compared to the R1 which is big and heavy. in a straight line the DRZ might beat it at the start but once that R1 spools up it will kick the DRZ's ass lol
@Arcticcatfan1892. Well your comment made me chuckle, in certain situations the drz, or any sm, will corner far better than a superbike, and they inspire confidence more than a superbikes, with superbikes being a more awkward position for example, as soon the superbike can open the throttle on a straight bit of road though, it will fly by.

@hgjisnfdlishdjthlre I choose to disagree, why?..because I have and ride, a drz400sm and a ZZR600...the only place a SM might come out on top is in REALLY tight corners, like just a few feet apart...Again, dont get me wrong, i LOVE my DRZ and it is really fun to ride. As far as confidence inspiring, that would be the 04 ZX10 i had {note the "had" :( }...That thing would turn for you.
its tops would be about 83 but it would only take 4 secs to get to that :P my one was about that then i fited arrow exost and air flow kit then sent it up to my dads dyno for the final tune the thing right now sits and 62bhp wheelies in 4th and get to 100 in just over 5-6 seconds:P
the drz 400 would kill any r1 or ktm 690 if u spend a lil time and money on em
i just did the 3x3 mod in my bike (05 sm) with jet kit and fmf pipe. it adds i'd say about 10% more power. but if you don't have a jet kit changing your air flow requires you to change your fuel to air mixture.. hence the need for the jet kit. it doesn't really change the acceleration as much as gives more power.. its kinda hard to explain
good because thats what i want a dirtbike for the road. I just wasn't sure if it would still handle and ride like a dirtbike because of the changes they made to it so it could go on road.
the most power adding mod i done to mine would have to be the 3x3 airbox mod with the stage 2 jet kit.. everything else helps but those two together makes a huge difference.:)
the stage 2 jet kit? were can you get these? and how much? is it a straight foward swap ie take old jet out and new one in? or will i have to get the carb set up properly?
their is a stage 2 because I have it on my bike now.. and the fcr doesn't make that much of a difference because i have it on my other bike... If you want to make power just sell your bike and get a 450. I re jetted for the exhaust not to make huge power.
@benjenings i re jetted to fix the leanness from the air box, and exhaust..It made a HUGE difference.. maybe your wasn't done right.. I have a crf450r.. I know what power feels like.. i didn't jet it to make it outrun other bikes.. i just wanted more power... don't be a smart ass
@saltspringstephen In the dynojet kit's there are 1-3 stages with the cv carb I only know becasue I bought the first one whch on has a 144 main the stage two includes a 155 main jet and stage three includes the 160mainjet.. no real ned for three since the needles are the same in all kits, I ended up just buying the sepertae jets for 10 bucks.. non the less there are threee stages. but I will agree they are not needed just a cash grab imo..
sounds lush mate, i have a k7 drz its still standard at the moment, but i want to mod it. mine won't wheely on power very well yet, what do you recomened? i am ordering a fmf powercore 4 full system but with the powerbomb aswell, on ebay you can get a 'Dyna FS CDI Ignition' are these rated?
if ive ridden dirt bikes all my life how easy would it be for me to get one of these
foxmoto17 1 year ago
ur saying an fcr would make no difference? ur running a cv carb on it now, slowest on throttle response. flatsildes/roundslides are much better

I have a stock sm now, how much difference did the 3x3 mod make? Whats your top end now? And did the acceleration go up a lot? Thanks

another question are they pretty much like riding a dirtbike on the road? and do the accelerate quickly ?

there is no stage 2 jet kit and that is a very weak mod. get the fcr 39 carb with a proper exhaust set up for real power.
