TJIG is the busiest non "international" airport in the Caribbean. It was built by the US Navy and was actually the busiest airport in the Caribbean before TJSJ was built which is now the busiest airport in the Caribbean. Its only about 10-15 miles to the east from this airport.
I know this is an old post but I will reply anyway. Flying in Puerto Rico is like flying in Florida in summer only it has the same weather year round. I highly recommend you fly down here one day. It only really takes one hop through the bahamas, and flying here is just the same as flying in the states, same rules, same everything. There are some small airports and one in particular with an exciting approach. Lots of US based FBOs such as millionair so your plane will be safe. : )
Congrats. Actually I now have a commercial multi. Kinda strange to see this video and know where I am now. I still haven't gone around to getting the instructor certificate. I am not sure if I wan't to make aviation a career anymore to be honest. We shall see.
@HDaviator you should do it as a career. Im now flying a SF340 in Miami for a cargo/passenger company and love it!!!Nothing better then being able to make money flying. hope you keep it up.
That's sweet. What outfit? Only airline I know that flies people and cargo out of Miami in the SF340 is IBC airways but don't know if they fly out of KMIA or one of the smaller airports. The thing that worries me about aviation is the medical. I don't wan't my livelihood to rely on the existence of a stupid piece of paper. I am considering getting into the business side of aviation and flying GA on the side. Its never going to beat getting paid to fly an airliner though.
Wow, busy little airport!
