I think I've figured out what this thing does. The phase locked loop tries to generate a tone that's the same pitch is the incoming signal. What's cool about that is that it takes time for it to transition between pitches so you get a pitch ramping effect that sounds really synth-y. Then they do some modulation/filtering/fuzz/gating on the generated tone to make it sound really far out..
Where did you get it? Is it new or used? Schumann resurrected... but in november. Your vid is from october. So I suppose this is one of the legendary PLLs from the past. Hope Schumann is getting back for real. BTW you're really blown away by this pedal. Your reactions are telling everything. :)
Gut shots I've seen show about 20~30 different kinds of wire, black silicone or epoxy, parts soldered "dead bug" style and everything shoe horned haphazardly into the box. If someone wanted to RE this puppy they would have their work cut out for them! I'll bet the failure rate [well documented BTW] and tales of owners who sent their PLL back to Schumann only to never see it again can be attributed
What an amazingly cool looking casing. Too bad they couldn't find something useful to put in it.

Nevermind...5:49 is better. It's like R2D2 + microwave burritos.

My favorite is the squonk @ 5:28.
