@FlashYes1-The new album has a life of its own! Ray has been lavishing it with all his time, attention and talent, discovering new bits that are essential, and he's loving the results. Says he's probably only days away from completion now, but his mum just died, so he's off to England for the funeral. But he'll also be working there with his brother (a photographer/graphic artist) to get the album cover ready. Soon!! And he's confident Flash fans are going to love it!
After I got done playing 10,000, I finally realized you were gracious enough to include some other wonderful Flash music. You are the best Sherry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks and again, Ray and the band do some really cool things on 10000. It is like he was saying on the interview. It was like no time had elapsed. This has the magic of the previous music. Well Done!!!!!!! Can't wait for the new album!
Thanks for the vid! That is cool that you are that close to a band member.
Actually I recorded a song called "Grammy Night" that is along the lines of "Lifetime", from Flash's In a Can. Also on my song "Guitar hero's", I made a reference to that well known triplet stuff Peter played near the beginning of "Black and White", which is my fave on that album. I have bought Flash in a Can at least 3 times and the first album 1 time. I have loved "Flash" since 1973. Great music! A huge fan
Sherry, when can I get my hands on the new Flash album? They sound very good. I hope they put out many more prog albums. They needen't be to miffed about being considered a prog band. This the only music I am interested in buying. I like hearing stuff that is very complicated to do. I like the surprizes. How did you come to be associated with Flash anyway? Oh, tell them they need to do a 2 hour tune sometime.Seriously! They will get my bucks if they do.
@1qaz2wsx3edc5753 - Getting close. After playing the Nine Inch Nails tune, "Hurt" at ProgDay in Sept., Ray & Colin liked it so much they decided to record it for the new CD, which delayed things a bit. But it should be well worth the wait. I'm Ray's wife. He laughed when I told him you want a 2-hr. track!! :)
Hey Sherry, where is the new album by Flash? I want to get a copy of it. I like what Ray is doing on the guitar and the band sounds good. I hope they do a lot more albums! Thanks
Sounds great. Out Of Our Hands is one of my all-time faves. Glad to see you are keeping it going. Ray, you sound fantastic on guitar. Hope you make it to NYC.
@FlashYes1 Thanks for the kind words, and your heads-up to Ray. I'll pass it on to him. I've added you to the mailing list and will keep you posted on up-coming gigs. Cheers!
OMG!!! This SURREAL!!! I used to idolize this band. Had so much influence on my own songwriting. Wore out so much of the original vinyl that I had to re-buy, then bought all of the CDs!! Please keep us posted! This sounds fantastic!! The photos look as though some were taken in Vegas. I live in Vegas.... (how I can tell). Thank you so much for the post!!!!
@marcchauvette Yep, the band is headquartered in Vegas. Thanks for your kind words...that's quite a tribute. Flash plans to play some warm-up gigs in Vegas, trying out the new material. I'll put you on the mailing list and hope to see you there!
Sounds surprisingly similar to the original model. Sounds promising.
I know this is just a sample... w/ inferior sound... I've tried severe EQ-ing... it makes little difference! Sound reminds me of 1st little portable cassette player I had, 1971, and the recordings I made over-the-air from a clock radio. - TRR: Transistor-Radio-Response.
@ Marmas58ink - I made this video by cueing up the original recorded track, and a bunch of video clips I had on my computer, then set my digital camera in front of my laptop and re-recorded what was on my screen and coming out of my (not very good) computer speakers. Keeping it simple and fast.
Thanks for the explanation. I wasn't really complaining. The lo-fi sound you get is prob actually a good way to go, promo/teaser-wise (don't let the word get around!). If the sound was too good people would be tempted to download it from Utube & never buy the record when released. (Been guilty of that myself I'm afraid.) Wish Peter were involved...
Guess it's impolite to ask why Peter keeps falling out of bands in recent years. Wish he could find a situation where his talent could shine.
@marmas58ink - Believe me, Ray and Colin made every effort to include Pete in the reunion. But the profound differences that originally broke the band up arose again. When Ray and Colin got together, however, the spirit of Flash was still there, stronger than ever. Perhaps it's time to show the world, and Pete, that that spirit is bigger than any one man. And perhaps Pete's best opportunity to shine will be as a solo artist. He is wished nothing but the best.
I'll be your very first recruit, Randy! It's official...I'm a "Flasher".
I've been authorized by Flash to offer the first 200 Flash Fan Club members a free ticket to a Flash concert!!!!
Sign up here. Then send me a message with "Flash Fan Club" in the subject line. Give me your name, home city, and email address, and I'll put you on the Flash mailing list for all news and events, and on the guest list for an upcoming gig. Spread the word!
New album ... please!
