  • Would you be into creating a theremin which somehow "soft-locked" (like "sliding" onto) the nearest semi- or whole-tone? And further to this, to make it more expressive, the volume and tone could adjust if you played at certain coordinates. For instance, assuming "x" range is the tone range, then if you slid your finger along one extreme of the "y" edge, the tone was darker and softer, but as you move your finger to the other extreme of the y edge, the tone becomes brighter and louder.

  • Thanks for these tutorials, really helped me out for my uni work

  • very cool, thank yu for this tut. :)

  • thanks for these videos joel you're a brilliant teacher :)

  • he said big loops or big boobs? LOL nice tuts, man

  • I love your tuts. Any chance you could do a tutorial on reverb, and chorus effects with Max?

Anything I came across appears to me like impenetrable. Your lessons on the contrary are fun & informative.

    Keep it up.

  • @21thCphil Thanks very much! I was doing some research into this and I can definitely do this, but after how I explain theory and how to make weird sounding reverbs and chorus I'll probably point you to an external max object to make something that sounds nice ;)

  • Hi Joel nice tutorial, could you tell me whats the purpose of having the "cycle~" object there? Thanks

  • @dayfit85 Its not necessary. The purpose was to add a stereo effect that causes one side to shorten the delay time while the other channel lengthens based on the hertz of the cycle~ object and the multiply number. I realize that's probably confusing for this tutorial.

It is however a cool effect ;)
