And I have a to agree that it is better to pay people $20/hr rather then let a company supply benefits and that would be one hell of start in the right direction but it just doesn't work like that. But price gouging is not truly indicative of a profit-based, free market; it's indicative of monopoly through mandate and regulation, which, you guessed it, comes through govt leverage. The overall insurance cost of our system is high exactly because we carry so much risk for lazy, irresponsible, incompetent, and stupid obese people and smokers. End of story. Look up the most prevalent and costly diseases in America; you'll see very quickly where our costs arise.
