  • Best hipster rant ever recorded. This man is a true lyrical (and musical) genius.

  • I never thought being slapped could look so badass

  • This kind of music video genius is few and far between in this day and age.

  • It's a wonder how one does not die from so many slaps.

  • luckily for music, this is genius. In some way, we were all there by being part of this now. Suck on that golden egg of k(now)ledge.

  • the lyrics are one of the most brilliant things i have ever heard. If only the music was as good as the lyrics....

  • says on wikipedia that youre a twat.

  • It says on Wikipedia that he was born on 2/4/1970, so he actually was not there.

  • @kevin666demon It's ironic. If you Wikipedia the song, in an interview he says the song is him getting over himself for feeling put out when other DJs would use the tracks he DJd with, because that was his "thing" before then. Then he realised "it's not even my music anyway, get over yourself". Now you have people clinging onto anything to make themselves seem important (doing what he did) and then telling him "you're losing your edge, everyone I know is better than who you know."

  • 1:36 !!!

  • i hear. everyone you know. is more relevant. than everyone i know.

  • This is like, Tuesday.

  • the swans...the soft cell... the sonics. the sonics. the sonics...

  • 33 people need immediate castration

  • THE SONICS!

  • No one I know is relevant. Me fail.

  • James Murphy is a curious combination of hipster and antihipster.

  • No bass drop makes me a sad panda

  • @4ceawsome thank god theres no bass drop, that way this song is good

  • Went to a house party one night, it was kind of dying down so I decided to pop this on the speakers. The speakers blare it out for a while, until they spontaneously went on fire. Oh James Murphy :)

  • this is to cool for vevo

  • I hope he finds his hedge soon...

  • James Murphy is one of the best things of the last decade

  • CBGB shoutout <3

  • This version cuts out a lot of the beginning of the song for some reason.

  • I love this too mucccchhhh! x)

  • 29 people have lost their edge, to better looking people, with more talent, who are actually, really really nice.

  • @psykdelia Well put

  • The best lyrics on the pop culture ever. Kids are coming from behind and they've already won the race you think you're still in. To be relevant, be young (and don't even act like you're staying young) ! This first hit of LCD had its last will inside : we are a swan song band. Burn out ! (it's better). But what luxurious gems Mr Murphy gave us before he closed his wonderful soundsystem !

  • such a funny video

  • I heard this song way before any of you posers

  • His smile after he says "they're actually really, really nice!" is awesome

  • 'i'm loosing my edge to the kids from France and London' - you always speak the truth mate.

  • Is he slapping himself, or is someone else slapping him, or is that even a hand?

  • this is so shit

  • Best video EVER! ROCKS & SEXY

  • Thumbs up if you also want to hit on him.

  • This band is a counterforce for Justin Bieber!

  • I like the part where he gets slapped

  • this song reminds me my class of dance with my teacher Azalea ♥ ...

The phrase was perfect nd insane :D

  • good electro makes even listening to ellie goulding not gay:

    /watch?v=2iWpfAmpj24

  • Comment removed

  • i heard everyone you know is more relevant than everyone i know - love it!

  • This is really...gay..

  • Gil Scott Heron.

  • There are too many fake hipsters nowadays, the internet makes it possible for people to pretend they know something, when they really know nothing. I was there.

  • what the fuck is he talking about. corny lo-fi bullshit.

    how is this talent?

  • @silenc3x no dude, no. What he is talking about and the way he says it is exactly what makes this shit a fucking masterpiece. the only thing worst than an ignorant is a proud ignorant. My advice: do some research, learn about what he is talking about, and if you're lucky you might feel embarrassed.

  • @dic3ful he's referring to his earlier years. he's losing his edge... he's an aging hipster reminiscing of what once was.he's ripping on what it is to be hipster and cool nowadays.... I get it. I just find it boring as music. I am entitled to that.

  • @silenc3x then don't hate. Even better, tell me what is talent. Come on, post a nice link beneath this comment

  • @dic3ful yeah sorry im just trolling a bit....

Silversun pickups - catch and release

  • @silenc3x that's just an OK song! nonono. average talent is overrated, and the world doesn't need another lovesong ;/

  • @dic3ful touche... music is total opinion.

My though is that at least that song has layers... more than one instrument. How deep can you get with a couple Roland TR-808 drum loops merged together? In that way you are TOTALLY dependent on the vocals telling a story.

  • @silenc3x @silenc3x you are not without reason. but notice that they actually have layers of drumloops and the acoustic drums on top of that, don't tell me you can't tell there's an actual drummer in there. and every pattern (or track) is run through one master mixer, playing with the volume to make the whole thing a crescendo. you should listen to the other tracks of that album, really. try this one, i'm sure you'll like it and dude. the vocals ARE telling a story.

  • @silenc3x sry i forgot the link haha. here /watch?v=TT2izWpGDCo&feature=related

  • @dic3ful LCD Soundsystem isn't for me. I think I just find James Murphy irritating in general. It's like a talking-headesque annoying whining. That song just seemed repetitive and annoying, minimalistic for the sake of it... the beat was like a shitty version of "nine inch nails - discipline", but i digress..

I'll never be a LCD fan, but i respect your opinion. There is no right or wrong. That's what makes music great. I listen to a lot of trance and electro while many of my friends hate it.

  • @silenc3x wait... old school early 2000's trance or house-sounding pop crap from yesterday?

  • @dic3ful I enjoy both for different reasons.... Lately the anjunabeats label has been killing it in the trance genre. old school trance is great though: early 2000s... binary finary, energy 52, three drives on a vinyl, gus gus, paul van dyk, etc.

It's nice to be excited to new music though. Best feeling ever.

  • @silenc3x He is talking about losing his edge and the soap opera drama bullshit that comes with being a hipster.

Talent is subjective. But at least this guy put out an album. And he heard that everyone you know is more relevant than everyone he knows.

  • such a great song.. the beat is so movin..

  • I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT PRETTY LITTLE LIARS YOU STAIN ON SOCIETY.

  • my face would get sore.

  • Ultimate Hipster.

  • i love how impatient people are with intros to songs, they kill the meaning....

  • GIL SCOTT-HERON!!!! Rest In Piece.

  • I can relate - great lyrics!

  • GIL SCOTT HERON

  • 25 people weren't there

  • I heard you are throwing your synthesizer out the window and retiring

  • thats a turkey slappin him up

  • yeah i could easily stare at James Murphy face for a full song

  • james murphy is jesus?

  • He looks like a thinner Nick Frost.

  • thumbs up for repetitive slapping!

  • This song is so fucking rad live.

  • wow, he can take a hit

  • his lyrics are so great, this song reminds me of Pow Pow and vice versa!

  • 14 people have already lost their edge.

  • funny, but i like the more melodic stuff. all my friends is hypnotizing

  • I'm losing my edge to hipsters with trust funds. One of the most talentless hyped bands of the last decade.

  • @djphosh hahaa my sentiments exactly.

  • A Certain Ratio's "Do The Du" cover, basically. But great nevertheless...

  • "I'm losing my edge, To better looking people... with better ideas... and more talent... and who are actually really really nice..." Absolute Class.

  • Watching James Murphy get slapped repeatedly makes me sad :(

  • @Hayo098 me too! :-(

  • mommy, im ascared of eminem's mean icy mug on the left side of the screen.....

  • Allow Cpt. Obvious to express his statement: "The ultimate hipster's anthem."

  • If LCD Soundsystem played at my house I would change and lose my edge, because all my friends could bring someone great called the disco infiltrator and bring all I want to the party. Just get innocuous! I dance myself clean till 45:33, I came home and I wanted a hit, drunk girls said: I heared you were there, I HEARED, that you have a compilation of every good song, I heared... is time to get away, the north american scum is coming...

Thumbs up if you need an Lcd Soundsystem. 2002 - 2011...

  • Bieber's back! AND HE'S HUNTING ME!!!

    I was there.

  • One of best singles o' the decade in my books.

  • dude whaa up wid da slappin?

  • fooking slapper

  • why is he being slapped?? I don't get it.. it's an awesome song though

  • @cassandramountakis because he is losing his edge

  • @cassandramountakis a representation of him feeling he's falling behind in the game, each new artist that pushes boundaries more than him is a slap in the face.

  • @cassandramountakis maybe it's age or irrelevancy slapping him in the face? bit of a stretch, but that's what i think.

  • Sounds like The Fall - Totally Wired

  • @ApocalypseForFree Sounds like Change by Killing Joke

  • Reading Killing Joke's Wikipedia page, it IS based around 'Change'.

  • @ApocalypseForFree .... yes very Fall!
