  • Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooa...Mind blown.

  • Ry Cooder played Machio's parts...not Satriani.

  • Ok, we all know that Vai played both guitar parts and Satriani was old guy on the harmonica.

  • @davdav839 Satriani actually taught Vai how to play...

  • what's the name of the song of the beninning?! it's awesome! :D thanks m8s!

  • Black dancer chick always annoyed the fuck out of me, bitch needs to shut the fuck up and go do some laundry.

  • i dont get it this has to be joke

  • Comment removed

  • the beginning is just the best thing i've ever seen

  • OK to clarify for some of the folks commenting. Ry Cooder does the Macchio parts and Vai is the other solo. No Satriani,

  • Vai flubs the easy parts :D

Loved Joe Satriani in Karate Kid!

  • Vai did not record the parts that Ralph Macchio mimed; Ry Cooder recorded every note that the kid faked. Ry Cooder has been a highly sought after sideman and studio musician for decades.

  • WTF..... satriani??????????

  • no satriani here. Vai recorded both parts.

  • Did Ry Cooder double on the slides and as I recall Steve took lessons from Satriani, pretty fair professor long-hair

  • I never knew the Karate Kid could also shred as well........ OMG

  • who is this child? i want to see him as he's playing now

  • @TaToMeTaLMaN Ralph Maccio... he doesn't actually play, he just mimed the guitar parts. all of the guitar in this video was played by steve vai.

  • This is how it is. Steve vai did all the guitar work for the duel except for the slide guitar stuff. That was Ry Cooder. I know this because it says so in the booklet of Steve Vai's album Elusive Lights and Sounds. Look it up.

  • This is technically Steve Vai vs. Steve Vai

  • mmm Ry Cooder and Steve Via no Joe Satchriani in here unless he is invisible

  • god i forgot how much i love this film...even to this day when i see vai i just see the devil himself.

(this movie is partially responsible for the cream tele i purchased years ago.)

  • change the title bitch

  • Ralph Malph, I mean, Machio on guitar; Potsy on bass and Big Al on drums.

  • karate kid???

  • Ralph Machio's playing isn't quite that articulate so roy cooder was the one responsible for Mr. Machio's licks. Still a great movie and some good playing. Classic

  • THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SATCH...IT'S FROM A MOVIE CALLED CROSSROAD THAT VAI HAD AN APPEARANCE IN -THIS CLIP- THAT'S IT!!!!! MAN THERE'S TOO MANY IDIOTS IN THE WORLD TODAY~~~

  • @MrPhrygianmaniac hahah, its true ¬¬

  • whats the ending song of that clip

  • how called this music ??i want to learn it

  • isnt he the kid from all those karate kid movies? lolz

  • ...wow!

  • And he lay that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet.....

  • stevevai goblok

  • QUE BUEN TEMA

  • Both guitar parts were played by Steve Vai according to an interview with Ry Cooder in Guitar Player.

  • That must've killed Vai doing all those wrong notes

  • @ironmaiden795 "Sweet Transvestite" just got mad & left...

  • Fuira steve vaii!!! sos un pancho,,,

  • satriani wins !!

  • this is truly awesome

  • Vai after Ralph played was like...Fuck u man...fuck u!!!

  • man satch has really changed his look I mean becoming the karate kid and all

  • I thought satriani was bald ¬¬

  • gunna say am pretty shore it was ry cooder and vai

  • @tomski0812 yup, it is Ry Cooder. almost all of the soundtrack is, pretty sure

  • @SunDaTian Ry Cooder did the slide guitar parts, Steve Vai did all the fast electric parts, and William Kanengiser did all the classical guitar parts. On the duel between Macchio and Vai, Steve Vai did both parts.

  • Still waiting for Satriani to appear...

  • @yety97 He is with us in spirit.

  • @yety97 He didnt have to - Satriani was Vai's tutor in real life...

  • mundiallllllllllllllllll INFINIIIITOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • It's my understanding that the slide parts were Ry Cooder but the classical, even Machio's, was Vai.Still, one of my favorite movie scenes ever.

  • The slide guitar is by Ry Cooder!!!

  • wahahaah dude !! i tell something, it s all by steve vai ... :D where did u see satriani loool karate kid is just acting, but music is steve's :D

  • by the way fret fans, thats Ry Cooder playing Macchios parts

  • @jfretful Macchios parts were played by Vai not Cooder.

  • @mcnaughtman Cooder played the blues parts, Vai the classical parts.

  • Satriani rules

  • Vai vs Vai.

  • oh no my friends... is vai vs vai :)))

  • Oh man, Satriani & Vai.....no no no no no

10000000 posts It´s Steve Vai and Arlen Roth

  • BOTH GUITARISTS ARE STEVE VAI!!!! Karate Kid is an actor only of course

You heree th style of the music: ALL STEVE VAI

  • This video is sped up. The audio of the original scene is a semitone lower and the tempo is significantly slower.

  • @arrman92 really? I dunno man, vai does a live with the same song and does it this fast too...

  • @angel1106 It's not only the speed. The audio has a higher pitch. About 1 semitine higher

  • THIS IS NOT JOE SATRIANI. it's RY COODER

  • Comment removed

  • vai did both guitar parts in this movie in case you all didn't know...vai is great man..

  • That is not Joe

  • The karate kid kicks ass lol

  • steve's guitar had better sound but i think the other guy is more beautiful than steve....

  • im pretty sure this isnt joe satriani

  • That's ry cooder..not satch

  • Wait is this a movie about Joe and Steve

  • This is all fine and dandy, but anyone with a passion for the instrument can play fast and furious... But to me good guitar playing is about soul and a distinct style. Just my opinion...

  • Isn't the player with the tele the same actor as the Karate Kid?:O

  • 1. All two tracks are played by Steve Vai

    2. The player with the tele is not satch

    3. Video is sped up

  • ralph mimed it? oh i didn't know ha wat a loser

  • whats the name of the song? ^o)

  • whoever did this vid is a twat, everyone knows thts ralph macchio not joe satriani

  • ry cooder did the begginng and steve vai did the van halen sounding parts

  • ok, was it joe satriana who won or was it steve vai cuz i dunno how they look in real life

  • Joe pwn3d Steve.

Appropriate, cuz in real life, Joe taught Steve how to play...

  • Mostly Frank Zappa did actually

  • No, Joe taught Steve to play.

Zappa discovered Steve and made him a legend.

Zappa made the musician into the celebrity legend, but Satch made the musician.

  • @ZomBLord joe didnt TEACH steve how to play..

he was his teacher but vai was already an amazing guitar player.

they helped eachother out with ideas, expressing through the guitar, improvising and such.

  • Not really. In the old interviews with both of them, the story was, Vai knew nothing when he came to Joe, but he wanted to learn to play some Jimi Hendrix songs, so he showed up with an acoustic and one pack of strings, which he did not know how to put on the guitar. Joe taught him warmups, licks, and basic theory before Vai went off on his own.

They do helpp each other out etc. nowadays though.

  • @ZomBLord hm really? i guess it is possible

but satch is only 4 years older then vai. so they both musta been young.

  • Yes. Vai's biography mentions Satch going to the same high school, as well as teaching him. Joe was pretty young back then, but he was already taking students.

  • @musicman1794, @musicman1794, Vai didn't know how to put strings on his guitar, much less play. He bought a guitar from a friend for $100, and showed up at Satriani's house with the guitar in one hand and a pack of strings in the other...

  • @musicman1794, check out the satch tapes part one and skip forward to the 5:00 mark...

  • @musicman1794, sorry, was mistaken. Vai bought his guitar for 5 dollars....

  • TAKE HIM TO HELL STEVI!!!!

  • where's joe satriani?^^

  • is the little boy Joe Stratiani?

  • There are many theories about the man behind the karate kids:

Stevie Ray Vaughn, Ry Cooder, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Carlos Santana (oh please...).

What about Yngwie? Reagarding the classical part.

  • Ry Cooder did the slide parts, the rest is done by Vai, how many times do I have to keep telling people this?

  • It's all in the credits:

Head Cuttin' Duel by Steve Vai and Ry Cooder.

Eugene's Trick bag by Steve Vai.

  • Crossroads is the name of the film

  • Que filme é esse ?

  • was that a movie ?

  • its funny at 1:11 were they just stare at each other lol, that was awsome! though lol

  • is this in a movie? if so, what movie???

  • crossroads is what the name of the movie is

  • It's not Joe Satriani, the other is guitarist is Ry Cooder, he did all the slide parts, the rest is all done by Vai.

  • actually the original person to play this was Carlos Santana

  • No. Ry Cooder did the slide parts, Vai did the rest. Santana is good but can't touch Vai's skill.

  • ry cooder isnt the kid lol

  • I know, it's Ralph Macchio. Ry Cooder recorded the slide parts, Macchio just faked playing the parts.

  • LMAOOO
