I could fill up a 80 minute CD and just have this on it for the entire duration. That's how much I love this song. I was only a baby when it was released, so I didn't discover it till the latter 70's/early Eighties. It's a timeless classic that deserves to be in the Music Hall of Fame.
@castillon123 oh !!! how sad , you feel that way !! about your teachers !! Now, dont get mad & dont feel sad !! But we are , the people ,, by those ,, educated , serving overseas , that make sure ,,, You all don't feel bad !!
Coming back here versus going home? Hmm. I think going home. I came here to help you guys and all i see is usery and greed. I hope that when you finally destroy your planet that you leave enough alive for it to be replenished. Again.
You people cant even get together enough to save your own species.
It is not has not and will not be my place to make the judgement on humanity.
I don't think earth people have much to fear. This planet doesn't have much to offer that couldn't be found elsehwere. what you do have here is a bunch of people that are happy to kill and maim and actually be proud of what they've done. No wonder you haven't been brought into the mainstreem.
oops, i'm now told that saying star people might mean like movie stars. That was not the intent. Star people come here for a reason. It's not to be in movies. We come to help. The sacrifice is great. Imagine leaving everything you ever knew to go help a savage species that doesn't even respect itself, much less the planet it lives on. Take a picture of 100 people. you might see as many as 30 or even 60 of us. I dont like to get all metaphysical. but i know from where i come.
I remember hearing this song on our bus drivers transistor radio on my way to the first day of kindergarten. my wife and i had the pleasure to see them perform in person a few years ago. this was the last song they did and he called it "that frog song" hehehe. I hope for you all a long life with a peaceful ending. To the star people out there, I can see you. You are not alone
Three Dog Night's & ABC/Dunhill Records' best-selling single! Peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard chart April 11th, 1971 (where it remained in the #1 position for 6 weeks!)!
Bravo, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron & Cory Wells (& Co.)!
@minasmichelle I didn't realize they had 2 different versions, I haven't listened to the 45 in over 30 years, was that better than this and what you hear on the radio?
Thanks for posting the version WITH the guitar solo (at about 1:12) Most of the Greatest Hits LP's, CD's and 8 tracks of the time had a mix with the solo missing, but it was on the original 45's. Many people and radio stations have gone for years with that guitar part missing!
@mauiSURF808 - what does him being black have to with the price of tea in china...? he is taller than 4 of the other band members though... if that has anything to do with the price of tea in china...
This is for Joey Lettig who introduced me to my wife of almost 40 years now. I promised him I would name my first son after him and I did. @Eliminsterify That is an easy question to answer. All the good songs are the older ones because they put some thought into the lyrics and the meaning they were conveying when people could actually listen to them.
With the amount of indecipherable lyrics that are out there today, the old songs always seem to be the point of reference for a good song, :).
Man, this was a monster hit, and they played it to death in '71..it was huge my senior year in high school..a great song, almost 40 years old, sounding good as it was then....
very tipical, I wish, only if we could, only now do you see, what was just taken for granted that they would last for ever... but then LIFE happens, we get old, then we look back, and like so many wonder what would have happend if I did this different, but life won't let you. So you go on, and keep going. Do I remember the THREE DOG NIGHT! yes I Do, everytime I hear a song, I pause, remember the time and place I first heard it..... yes there is not a part of me, does not wish for a repeat!
@STPETE3624360 I don't mean to correct you, but the first #1 song on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 was "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" by Three Dog Night. The first episode of AT 40 aired on July 4th, 1970. Props for getting the group name correct, though!
