  • I got spanked by my babysitter while this was playing... ffs

  • lol my dad use to sing this song, then when i first heard it as a lil kid, i actually thought my dad was the one on the radio singing it,lmao

  • ... there is a very, very good chance my mother woke up to this song playing on the radio, the morning after I was born. :)

  • 30 people dislike joy.

  • I heard this song before at my graduation but the original song name was used when Debi mentioned the song

  • I'm 48 years old and I can remember singing this on the playground at School. Great memory...

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!;)))It makes me smile :)))

  • This song was in Raise Your Voice <3

  • Just heard this song for the first time. My life is changed forever.

  • I've been singing this one for years>>>>

  • I could fill up a 80 minute CD and just have this on it for the entire duration. That's how much I love this song. I was only a baby when it was released, so I didn't discover it till the latter 70's/early Eighties. It's a timeless classic that deserves to be in the Music Hall of Fame.

  • this was another favorite song of mine when i was little i would sing this song with my mama in the car when we were driving we had fun!

  • Of all the songs around, this song has always brought a smile to me

  • jeremiah the bullfrog clearly doesn't wanna be my friend. :(

  • 23 people are bullfrogs!

  • Joy to the world

    The teachers dead!

    we barbicued her head!

    what happened to her body!

we flushed it down the pody!

and around and around it went!

and around and around it went!

and around and around and around it went!

  • @castillon123 you...are...gay

  • @castillon123 oh !!! how sad , you feel that way !! about your teachers !! Now, dont get mad & dont feel sad !! But we are , the people ,, by those ,, educated , serving overseas , that make sure ,,, You all don't feel bad !!

  • @castillon123 wow you're sick, don't worry about 'her' head, worry about yours!

  • 21 DISLIKE?....REALLYYYYYYY?????

  • This was THE song of my childhood.

  • this is my marching band song

  • :) Heard this song in my music class

  • Coming back here versus going home? Hmm. I think going home. I came here to help you guys and all i see is usery and greed. I hope that when you finally destroy your planet that you leave enough alive for it to be replenished. Again.

You people cant even get together enough to save your own species.

It is not has not and will not be my place to make the judgement on humanity.

I'm just a son who chose to come here.

Good Luck and Love to all.

  • @akaterr Wrong video man.

But you would most definitely like the short novel 'Ishmael' by Daniel Quinn.

  • I don't think earth people have much to fear. This planet doesn't have much to offer that couldn't be found elsehwere. what you do have here is a bunch of people that are happy to kill and maim and actually be proud of what they've done. No wonder you haven't been brought into the mainstreem.

  • oops, i'm now told that saying star people might mean like movie stars. That was not the intent. Star people come here for a reason. It's not to be in movies. We come to help. The sacrifice is great. Imagine leaving everything you ever knew to go help a savage species that doesn't even respect itself, much less the planet it lives on. Take a picture of 100 people. you might see as many as 30 or even 60 of us. I dont like to get all metaphysical. but i know from where i come.

  • I remember hearing this song on our bus drivers transistor radio on my way to the first day of kindergarten. my wife and i had the pleasure to see them perform in person a few years ago. this was the last song they did and he called it "that frog song" hehehe. I hope for you all a long life with a peaceful ending. To the star people out there, I can see you. You are not alone

  • Was cooking and drinking with wine and suddenly this song popped into my head.

  • I use to listen to this on a 45 all the time when I was little :)

  • The single version is so much better than the lp stereo mix. Too bad they don't have a stereo single mix of this great old song.

  • @minasmichelle I didn't realize they had 2 different versions, I haven't listened to the 45 in over 30 years, was that better than this and what you hear on the radio?

  • Still one of the best! Simple as that!

  • Awesome. This song always lift my spirits up xD

  • Ever notice that the older songs lighten your mood while most of the newer ones make you want to stick your head in the oven.

  • @RetroJenny Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones.

  • This is good. Thanks.

  • what classic tune.

  • Thanks for posting the version WITH the guitar solo (at about 1:12) Most of the Greatest Hits LP's, CD's and 8 tracks of the time had a mix with the solo missing, but it was on the original 45's. Many people and radio stations have gone for years with that guitar part missing!

  • Damn this song can put you in a great mood!

  • anyone noticed there is only ONE black man in this band?haha

  • @mauiSURF808 - what does have to with the price of tea in china...? at least he's taller than 4 other band members...

  • @mauiSURF808 - what does him being black have to with the price of tea in china...? he is taller than 4 of the other band members though... if that has anything to do with the price of tea in china...

  • @mauiSURF808 And he's most likely the bass singer.

  • Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, and joy to you and me!!! :D

  • This is for Joey Lettig who introduced me to my wife of almost 40 years now. I promised him I would name my first son after him and I did. When I finally tracked him down after I came back from Vietnam, I found out he was killed by a high power line and he never got to know his namesake. And I cry., Bob Howe

  • joy to the dead fishes in the polluted sea

  • I was only 4 when I heard this song new. It was the first one I rememebr liking.

You should let them hear, Peter, Paul & Mary.

Don't teach them about, Tina Turner as the "Acid Queen', just yet.

  • The guy in the middle looks kinda like Elton John

  • Tight ~

  • chandler sings it better...

  • Whatever the drummer does in the measure at 1:33 is flippin' sweet. This ain't no Lady Gaga song, son!

  • Ieremais rana erat,

    Mihi bonus amicus.

    Verbum quod dicebat nunquam comprehendebam,

    Sed vinum valde semper habebat.

    Gaudium mundo!

    Omni pueri puellaeque!

    Gaudium piscibus in mari caerulei.

    Gaudium tibi mihique.

  • Excellent band... But 1971!?

  • @sofnsable Yes 1971. This was on the charts in 71 but I dont remember just when.

  • forrest gump!!!!!!!!!

  • My 8 & 9 year old girls love this song. They keep asking why all the good songs are older songs...out of the mouths of babes.

  • @Eliminsterify That is an easy question to answer. All the good songs are the older ones because they put some thought into the lyrics and the meaning they were conveying when people could actually listen to them.

With the amount of indecipherable lyrics that are out there today, the old songs always seem to be the point of reference for a good song, :).

  • My husband used to sing this to me when we first met.... and I didn't believe it was a real song! Haha

  • Yes but Don 'No Soul' Simmons really mad it his own I feel!

  • I just the way 3 dog night performed there songs. Great production and harmony as well as the band. I love them!!

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!

  • I just listened to this song............I am happy!

  • If I were the King of the world, tell u what I'd do!

  • @therealraybaby I'd throw away the cars and the bars and the wars, and make sweet love to you!

  • Man, this was a monster hit, and they played it to death in '71..it was huge my senior year in high school..a great song, almost 40 years old, sounding good as it was then....

  • very tipical, I wish, only if we could, only now do you see, what was just taken for granted that they would last for ever... but then LIFE happens, we get old, then we look back, and like so many wonder what would have happend if I did this different, but life won't let you. So you go on, and keep going. Do I remember the THREE DOG NIGHT! yes I Do, everytime I hear a song, I pause, remember the time and place I first heard it..... yes there is not a part of me, does not wish for a repeat!

  • Wow!! Takes me back in time, to a fun place.

  • this song reminds me of hippies since it was made in pert of the cold war

  • This is a great song to dance to

  • I wish this song and "All the Young Dudes" was longer.

  • This was one of the first songs that I learned when I started playing electric piano. Awesome tune

  • best first line of a song ever!

  • "...Jeremiah was a bullfrog and He is a good friend of mine..."

  • Who does all the screaming? Isn't it Chuck who does that?

  • This was the first #1 Song on Kasey Kasims American Top 40... The first Broadcast

  • @STPETE3624360 I don't mean to correct you, but the first #1 song on Casey Kasem's American Top 40 was "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" by Three Dog Night. The first episode of AT 40 aired on July 4th, 1970. Props for getting the group name correct, though!

On another note, both "Joy to the World" & "Mama Told Me" are two great songs that were covered by a grat group. They don't make songs like these anymore, for sure! By the way, "Mama Told Me" was TDN's first #1 single, penned by Randy Newman.

  • @ChihuahuaboyDH "Joy to the World" was written by the late Hoyt Axton.

Correction: I meant to type "great" in the message above, not "grat"...sorry!

  • Was Jeremiah a bullfrog?

  • JEREMIAH WAS A BULLFROG!!!!

  • @TG1980 That was your dream? Are you sure they didn't play it in an episode?

  • The 17 people who disliked this video are terribly wrong!

  • 16 people missed the like button.

    That's okay. We know it's a mistake.

  • I LOVE DIS

  • this was one of the first songs my dad sung to me when i was little

  • dog night when I was laid up in the hospital home from the nam ,and many more kept a lot of us going and wanting to get out and go home!

  • Another Three Dog Night song from my childhood that I loved and takes me back to those days!!

  • My grandma loved this song, and I love it too :)

  • It was a great period. The high school kids and college kids were still rebelling against the Vietnam War and the corrupt politicians were going nuts. Then the massacre of students at Kent State College by federal troops happened , and and that was the begining of the end for support of the war. Our generation never forgot when the US Government opened fire on unarmed college students.

  • @Vulcan621 those four poor dears were throwing rocks at soldiers' heads with no provocation. If I had been in the soldiers' shoes, I would have blasted a lot more than four of those hippies back to hell.

  • @Vulcan621 Not to split hairs but weren't the troops National Guard and not Federal USG forces?

  • When I was kid my entire bus sang this song on the way home. I had uncles in 'Nam. Many on the bus had fathers there. Regardless we sand as one band!

  • my mom likes this song
