while you can tell that this is "old school" prog rock i think it still holds up quite well...
what boggles my mind is that good stuff like this used to get air play! i listen to porcupine tree, spock's beard and liquid tension experiment (among many others) but they only get played on college radio... (props to randy allers fusion show wcsb - cleveland!)
@dan7dees Ken Hensley plays slide on this cut. Mick Box plays an awesome solo on 'Look at Yourself' though. I saw them in '72 in Calgary Alberta Canada at the Grand Theater. Only 1400 seating capacity. What a show!
Last 30 years music produced has mostly been insipid , unimaginative with no melody. Just engineered sound effects backed by talentless voices and cannot be compared to Uriah Heeps colourful and versatile compositions.
I respect the old work! And i know a lot of crap has been created last decades. But definitly not unimaginative man, I don't what you listen to, maybe to what the radio or media is broadcasting. I've heard so many original and master pieces of creativity.
I love the nostalgia, but do not overrate history.. like everybody is doing all the time, especially when they are from an elder generation. big up to all the creative minds, artists, writers, painters, inventors.... :-)
@Digalog Agreed, I grew up with the old stuff but there is a lot of good new stuff too. Of course I'm pretty broad-based in my listening but if the older stuff is what you like then listen to artists that are inspired by that generation of music. Joe Bonamassa for one is a creative wonder.
jeez this takes me back.. I had "Sliisbury" and can remember what would the second album sound like?,,,, no need to have worried.....I was 14... nearly 54 now!
I saw them at the first festival seating show in Nashville's Municipal Auditorium. The opening act was an unknown band called ZZTOP. As much as I love this stuff, one can smell the future in the grooves, and the future was...BUTTROCK!

The mind-boggling guitar work in this great classic-rock song, when it first
came out in the 1970's,sent me into orbit!!! Uriah Heep were one of the
first hard-rock astronauts that flew all of us to the moon!!!

The heavily amplified acoustic guitar and Mick Boxs's funky slide guitar are uncanny!
