The Corries' version is the best I've listened to, next to it comes the Fureys' one. I like this one to, and would like to listen the one by Peter Mallan
There are many very attractive versions of this this charming thought provoking song but my favourite has to be that of my father Peter Mallan recorded around 1963. Being a singer myself and appreciating the art of good singing, his voice to me seemed to flow effortlessly through this and many other beautiful songs in those days. Two that come to mind are the "Loch Tay Boat Song" and "The Barra Fisher's Song." Many thanks for posting this version, John Mallan.
Hands down my favourite version of this song. Makes me think about home and warm breezy days and general feelings of vague, all-encompassing joy. Very lovely
Sorry, but Jim and David do ! Tom and Jack are good, but they cant match this version. No point in arguing though, Both Jim Macleod and the Alexander Brothers are outstanding artistes. Try and catch Jim's solo version of this song too.
im looking fot the sang that i think jim sung aboot= its got words to this effect on it=some just clap their hands upon and anything they got ....... any ideas pple?
i was brought up wth this music, jim macleod andy stewart jimmy shand my god pure bliss. didnt like it at the time but looking back all the folks that are gone knew how to enjoy themselves. och ayelol

Jim Mac and David do the best version - EVER!!
My Grandfather was/is a McLeod and his sister married a Cunningham; hence David Cunningham.
The best voice from Bo'ness, but John McLeod can hold his own too.
