Where I live, you can choose whether your property taxes go to a public school (means non-religious school) or a catholic school, but that is because both are public schools! The state cannot enforce and regulate religion, they are separate entities. They should stay separate as stated in the constitution, HOWEVER providing tax money to these religious schools is not exactly enforcing a religion, as many religious schools are partially government funded. If you can't fund Muslim schools, you can't fund catholic schools. Misinformation for the loss, get people so angry they forget to think lol.

@infernoofflames why is that so? If people live in a democratic society they should be able to choose which kind of school they want their taxes going too. Religious and non-religious is different than public vs private schools. Where I live, you can choose whether your property taxes go to a public school (means non-religious school) or a catholic school, but that is because both are public schools! This is way different than a government saying "you cant be catholic or muslim."

In fact, it's on NO government document. It comes from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Baptist Assoc. of Danbury, CT in 1801. On January 1, 1802, Jefferson wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association of Danbury, Connecticut, in which he used the phrase "a wall of separation between church and state." Religion belittles the need to clearly define the truth. While science is the pursuit of the truth of nature and it's inhabitants, religion is both a control and an opiate for the masses. Religion is an easy way out of reason and purpose. We as human beings define our own cultures and ethics there in. Realize that we invented god(s) to compensate for our ignorance, and get over it.
