A friend and I built a smaller version of this jump and put it on the end of a dock. We have about a 120 ft run up on an old rusty BMX that we found in an abandoned cabin on an island, we just tied a lifejacket on the handle bars and it floated fine. The only bad part is this was into the ocean so it really burned the eyes and tasted like shit. But no, it doesn't hurt at all, i caught my foot on the pedal and my shin hit the bike but the bike was still moving downwards so it didn't hurt.
my buddy let us use his old downhill bike. this was the first trip of the year. the second was much better i did a huge backflip on the dh bike. good times.
