Like the song, the musicianship and the home movie. Typical American family of the 50's, enjoying life and playing Traditional American music. A lot less complicated time. Really like this.
An advice with reference to MattyNorthstar's post.. This isn't the version of 'Last thing on my mind' that is on the Silver Meteor album, which I have.
That recording features Clarence playing flatpick guitar and singing solo with no other accompaniment.
It is a great track; as is this one too!
Clarence's death was without doubt one of American music's most tragic and senseless losses.
So cool... My grandfather, John Olesh, is the one in the white shirt with the harmonica. That's my Uncle Russ w/o his shirt. My dad's older brothers Johnny and Jimmy are in this, too. We'd love to have a copy of the video file for the family. If possible, contact me at josepholesh@gmail.com. Thanks!
Hey! Clarence is smiling! Nice job matching the film and music - really good! Love the White Brothers and all they have brought to the bluegrass family!
This not only tugs on the guitar/mandolin strings, it tugs on the heart strings! Filmed about a year before I was born, ya'll have influenced so many generations of musicians. Thanks for sharing.
In reply to doctrDave, Johnny Olesh had the original film transferred to VHS videotape and sent it to us years ago. Recently I converted it to digital using the inexpensive Diamond Multimedia One-Touch video capture interface and provided software. - Diane
The recording of Last Thing On My Mind is from the White Brothers' Live in Sweden recording, which we plan to re-release on CD this year. - Diane and Roland
Heartwarming! Seeing film footage of Clarence and Roland that far back is like seeing film of Lennon and McCartney's first meeting. We're so lucky to have this historical document. Many thanks!
So wonderful to find this! It's been a long time..........
