oh ps. my high schools going to japan in the spring, on an exchange program, me and 9 other students will live with our new brothers and sisters for two weeks then return the favor as they come to canada for the same amount of time. any hint or tips on must see's/ do's?
I could give you a few. 1) Bring a gift for the family. Something local, like local candy or local sports team stuff. Alcohol is always great, but you may be too young. 2) Be prepared for lots of jet lag. 3) Be very very polite. 4) Pick up a Japanese phrase book ahead of time and learn a few things. 5) Try all the foods they give you, even if it looks weird. 6) Just be a good guest. 7) Bring a digital camera and take lots of photos.
thanks man ill take that into consideration, we already need to take a course on japaniese but ill be sure to pick up a phrase book. also i got a good year of some N.A. red wine for the parents and some candy for my little brother and sister and a few CDs for my exchange brother. im alright with jet lag, but its about a 20hour difference so its gonna be tough... its gonna be awsome!
ps. anything from japane that we can relate to ie. bands, actors, ect... to help break the ice?
soo, if I got an iPhone and I was on unlimited sms/internet and that's pretty much all I did was text&web browsing and never downloaded anything would I get a huge bill like this?
Just tell them you like baseball, and look up the wikipedia page on some of the Japanese players in the US. Maybe tell them you like My Neighbor Totoro or sushi. It doesn't take much. These are the same people who will probably act surprised if you tell them that there are 7-11s in the US. A student once asked "Do you have KFC in America?". Sigh...
I never thought it was going to be that expensive. You got lucky they did not charge you that much of money. Hey Joshua maybe this is a very obvious question but from the scale of 1 to 10 how fun and popular are the Iphone over there as far as you know?
Just as fun as having one anywhere else. Very hand for me, being a foreigner in Japan. Quite a few great apps for Japan. I see lots of random people using it. Plus G3 coverage is quite good. I rarely run into dead spots. I can't say from 1 to 10, but the iPhone has been one of the most popular phones recently in Japan. (Oh, and Japanese phones suck. I won't go into detail, but they really really suck.)
i dont get it man, how come their plan is so expensive? what is a data packet? how come they dont have itnernet plans? and why did they void the fee if they charge that much in the first place ?_?
Cool so you're plan must have a cap that they don't charge you over that, that's cool :).

you lucky bastard, thats like only paying 12% of your actual bill. >.>

you mean paying $100 out of a 'possible' bill of $17,000? Thats a little less than 12% me thinks.

Yeah, its a bit more expensive here in Japan, especially with the exchange rate these days. I'm just glad I wasn't charged for it all.
JoshuaZimmerman 2 years ago
That is good, if you were charged for all of that, that would be bullshit. Id have a coronary.

lol that wouldn't even be all my life savings.

This is why you should jailbreak and get a cheaper plan... and *ahem* 'free apps'.
Also, you need to post videos more. T_T
