Seeds are not good for birds? Then why have all of my birds lived LONG beyond their expected lifespan on a seed diet? Their main diet in the wild is seeds! Yes fruit pellets and veggies are good for them too, but seeds definitely aren't bad for them.

It's fine for birds in the wild who fly constantly and waste energy, but caged birds are better off on pellet foods like zupreem, which is fruits and veggies as you know. A caged birds diet should consist of 80% pellets and 20% seed...

I've heard another issue that a lot of people don't plan for is the bird's life span. I don't know which birds specifically, though I think it's parrots in general, are very long lived. Their life span is supposed to be comparable to a human's, which I'm not sure many people adequately plan for.

I'm really glad someone took the time to make facts known to others about parrot keeping. I have got two budgies and even though they are way smaller they still require lots of care and attention so you definitely need to think hard about whether you can provide it. Chewy is gorgeous, I think I'll only have a parrot when i'm home all day, otherwise it's not fair.

i am pretty sure. i have a female u cockatoo, and so far all of the cockatoos i've seen it holds true. similar for a cockatiel, blue skin around the nose is male and pinkish for fmale. i think i heard the eye thing from a bird magazine. i think they were talking about methods of det. gender.

My nan and pops white cockatoo once yelled out " Just be a minute, I'm on the loo." to some poor friend knocking at the front door. They sat down and waited until half and hour later, my nana and pop pulled into to the driveway...! she had the shock of her life. True story. It also used to call the cat and then scare it half to death when it approached the cage and it used to opera sing beautifully..... they are sooooo smart and talented!
