Yes gay spray does sound dirty lol and you as a gay do have a right to marry your bf. For marrige is a ceremony where 2 PEOPLE say vows and bond to each other till death or divorce do you part and the state got influenced by a church who donated a lot of CASH to prop 8 and prayer groups etc. So politics is a bitch when it comes to this I'd say you should protest or riot but then the christian culture could say yall are barberic for rioting but a point needs to be proven some how..best wishes :)
Oh and I believe in some way that people are like that.... because of church. I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual... I do believe there is something out there, but I do not believe in church. In my mind, church is pretty much like a cult. Believe this, don't let anyone tell you different, don't have an open mind, and only listen to what I have to say. It's bullshit. It's just "comfort food".
you are very smart and i have sooooo much respect for you.
people make a big deal out of shit that doesnt matter in the big scheme of things and things that don't affect them.
its just how the world is right now, and i know its going to change.

We live in Beautiful West Hollywood Hills California. Thank God I grew up with Liberal Parents that taught my brother and I to respect the rights of all people. The people of california have spoken. Get a clue. If you don't believe in god or relegion then stay out of his relegious ceremony's. You can pretend to be any sex you want, just dont ask me to play along with your charade.
Gays aren't asking YOU to be gay. Gay people are asking you to let them get married. It's hypocritical of you to say "just dont ask me to play along with your charade." when you're voting to take away their rights. Maybe you should keep yourself out of their lives? (assuming you support prop8 here)
That musical is hilarious. They want equal rights, but make fun of religion? That's a great way to get people to look at your cause without any bias. Get a common sense voice, then people might listen to you. And I do realize that most people are just stubborn, and set in their ways. There are some other people that are open to REASONABLE debate, not "UR RELIGION IZ STOOPID." By the way, I'm a Christian, but I don't hate any gay person. It says to love everyone, so I simply do exactly that.
Hi LittleBiggerchris, I share your point of view, here in France Prop8 has been eluded by medias, they only talked about the presidential election (wich was important too) but as a gay i'm deeply disapointed, cause I was hoping our country could change its legislation by allowing gay marriage, but with California's vote, it has been a very sad day for gay rights in the US,
I've had that sudden surge of power too (and I'm from Australia!) I didn't come out till this year, around the time of prop 8. When I did, I was suprised how many people actually said "That's cool bro" and supported me, went to lbgt community gatherings with me... stuff like that.
Good for you! This is now a narrow-mind free zone! I am a straight woman and I think I'm more outspoken about breaking down homophobia than most of the gay people I know. My family is religious and homophobic, I've lost count of how many times I've tried to get through to them. I think the problem is that people turn to the bible saying it's a sin cuz the bible says so, even tho it DOESN'T.
:) i agree. i support. my best friend is gay and i asked my parents why they didnt support gay marriage. *its just not right. says so in the bible* the words of my mother.
MARRIAGE IS ABOUT LOVE and love has no restrictions
Remind your mom that the Bible also says to cut off your hand if it causes you to sin, that women have no place in the church, that tribes are not to mix, and that slaves should obey their masters. Ask her what she thinks about those instructions, too.
Bringing Religion into this is ridiculous. And Aglia, I was raised Catholic, I'm no longer Catholic, but it's people like you that give your Church a bad name. Dogmas do not = truth. I'm not putting your Faith down, I just think that you should research the history of your Faith, before you start using it to put others down, not reading the bible, but reading Historical Fact. Jesus was all about love, hence why he said love one another, not only love straight people.
Exactly sweetie, I am a proud christian and who would I be to judge anyONE! That is not the worlds place. I feel each should live their live as FREE WILL as the bible states. 8) Much love and peace to you and YOUR chosen loved one!

"Explosion of gayness"! That would be AWESOME. I've always said that, if I were to ever explode, there'd be rainbows and glitter and cum everywhere. ;-)
You're completely right. It's not just about tolerance anymore -- it's about knowing what's true and making it reality. It's a gradual process, but there's no reason to deny something that is so fundamental. I want this both for the family that gave up on me and for the family I plan to build myself someday.
Gay people put up with way too much tepid, lukewarm, half-hearted "support" and I think it's a very positive event when we reach the tipping point, wake up, and do some serious spring cleaning in our lives.
Hi Chris. Totally feel that the passing of Prop 8 is ridiculous.(even if i don't live in the US). Agree with you that people can't "agree to disagree" anymore and need to take a stand towards the unequal treatment.
And as an addendum: I think you have this problem, too, Chris, since you spoke of "gay marriage at the altar". IMO, you can have your state-marriage, but Christianity is not to be changed in that manner.
my reference to marriage "at the altar" is a point towards my parents' traditional idea of marriage, since this tradition seems to be what everyone is afraid will be destroyed. and fyi, state marriage, church marriage, commonlaw marriage --- WHATEVER kind of marriage one chooses --- should be an option to everyone.
I agree that state marriage should be optional and not bound by any religion, I disagree that you can have such case within Christianity. Such a change would destroy Christianity: simple fact.
So I guess to uphold Christianity all women should be stoned if they are dishonest to their husbands? The bible says that as well. I mean... if we're gonna go by your rules we should at least be consistent. Let the stoning begin!
Have you ever wondered about why Orthodox Jews do not stone people anymore? it is because those OT rules that you refer to are only applicable with the Temple and the Sanhedrin: both are gone.
No need to call me an "idiot": where's the tolerance & respect?
Agila, people like you just don't GET it. Destroy Christianity? Really? By treating people equally, giving them equal rights? Or... since we're talking Christianity here, let me use the well known phrase you should already know. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
The golden rule applies to me here, I agree: I may not be married either. I have no issues with that. Your point?
As for my remark on Christianity: dogmas = truth. Jesus is the truth. When a dogma is changed (which is impossible), then that means Christianity is no longer. I hope that is clear enough.
Agila1, it is my duty to remind you what a fact actually is: knowledge or information based on REAL OCCURENCES. You are of course entitled to your opinion; who would I be to tell you otherwise? However, you are intelligent enough to know that your assertion is in no way a "fact".
Don't you see that we respect the institution of marriage greatly! Civil union simply evokes an unpassioned technicality whereas marriage implies: I love you always and forever till death do us part.
Yes, based on reality. If I did not believe that the doctrines of my faith are real, do you think I'd be a Christian?
I do not see where your trouble is? I am not against marriage by the state. All I say is that you should NOT force our religion to change a dogma as we should not force our beliefs upon you.
Therein lies the root of the problem. I've never implied that you should change your faith, but christians (sorry for the generalization) won't even allow for the state to recognize gay marriage. Then, they are straying away from the context of the Church and imposing their religious limits on my civil rights.
P.S. For what that's worth, I'm a christian as well, or at least I was brought up as one. I've reconciled both aspects of my life.
And then why do you oppose me? I have stated pretty clearly that I am against prop 8 as I am against some gay people who wish to force the Church to allow gay marriage which is impossible.
My father is a minister, one of a few open minded ones, and he attended a rally in town where I live to protest Prop 8. He hates hate, and has stood up for equal rights of all people, and I am so proud to be his daughter in this day and age. I wish you could meet him so you could see that not all ministers and pastors preach hate. My dad stands up for equality that knows no boundaries. "One day, Jesus will come back and look at all those crazy Christians and say 'THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT.' "
Well I certainly like to think so. His fellow men and women of the cloth could learn a thing or two from him. He understands the REAL meaning of do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and knows you can't just pick and choose the things you like and don't like from the bible and your so called "christian" beliefs.
Just to let you know I've been to many, many candle light vigils, protests & demonstrations in 3 counties in California (Los Angeles, Riverside & Sacramento). THANK you for your solidarity!
I'm with you on this Chris. My personal opinion is that we need to do more. I think it is nearing time that we initiate a 60's era style non-violent civil disobedience campaign. Let's force them to arrest us for simply standing up for our rights. There are two other things to remember though.
1) It's not just our straight friends and family we need. We must also get our gay friends to stop being homophobic. Too many gays bash each other.
I´m blessed to have the opportunity to get married in Norway or Sweden and I will next year. That said, there´s as much homophobia there as anywhere. I now live in Italy where they won´t even talk about gay rights in the government. Still people here aren´t any more homophobic.
Wherever we are and whichever rights we have we need to stop taking shit from ignorant people. Don´t accept that people don´t accept. Make them realize that they just don´t understand.
Perhaps the best thing that has happened was that Prop 8 passed. Why? Because it has shaken gays out of their complacency. When a "liberal" state like California can ban rights then no one is safe. You are not the only one whose switch has been turned on. This is a civil rights issue and we shall overcome. Lose "Jesus points"...I like that. And they will for not being Christ like. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Peace.
I'm not tough on the world around me - I probably should be. It's hard sometimes to be proud / outspoken about my orientation and about gay issues - but I need to be.
Things like Prop 22 and 8 scare me, anger me, and even make me ashamed to be straight.
What people don't understand is that same-sex marriage *does* protect marriage, by making the biggest threat, the divorce rate, go down.
I recently talked with a friend of mine who is straight and religious. He defines marriage as a "religious ceremony". He thinks that ceremony will be damaged if LGBT people marry.
How do I answer that one? I'm not religious myself.
Chris, someday, all these "Supposed men of God" are going to realize they were on the wrong side of the issue, and that they were like the racists during the civil rights movement. Change will happen and it will happen very rapid when it does. Your anger is well justified!
i dont support homosexuality and it is a choice.

Can't they just live their lifes, and stay the hell out of everone elses ??

Perhaps the best thing that has happened was that Prop 8 passed. Why? Because it has shaken gays out of their complacency. When a "liberal" state like California can ban rights then no one is safe. You are not the only one whose switch has been turned on. This is a civil rights issue and we shall overcome. Lose "Jesus points"...I like that. And they will for not being Christ like. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Peace.

Thanks.

I'm not tough on the world around me - I probably should be. It's hard sometimes to be proud / outspoken about my orientation and about gay issues - but I need to be.

Hi, Chris--
Things like Prop 22 and 8 scare me, anger me, and even make me ashamed to be straight.

Religion is slowing declining, scales will tip sooner or late hopefully and the world should get better.

Chris, someday, all these "Supposed men of God" are going to realize they were on the wrong side of the issue, and that they were like the racists during the civil rights movement. Change will happen and it will happen very rapid when it does. Your anger is well justified!
