you have no idea!! before my hip resurfacing I was in so much pain, I put with that pain for years and years. Being born with a dislocated hip is not good, all my doctors have told me that I am to stay out of work.. I agreed! I am still having pain and yes does dis shit hurt, I would say the hip resurfacing brought me back too 60% normality!
i just had my turbinate surgery from my nose and its been a day, i feel no pain in my nose but i am vomiting.Doctor said i should be fine within 24 hours.about 2-3weeks i should be able to breathe through my nose and smell alot better :)
I had my hip surgery 5 months ago. Keeping in mind that I have a right not to be in pain, I only had pain during post-op and only briefly. Once identified by staff my pain was gone. I got off the narc early. First week I went from 4 norco a day to 1 at night. Then on to tylenol. Then nothing. I am active for the first time in 10 months and sleeping soundly through the night without pain. The key is choosing the best doctor, one who specializes in joint replacement, and then doing the PT.
do not do it i know that there is pain before but it is totally not worth the pain afterwards what drs fail to tell you is that you can have foot drop nerve damage stroke or heart attack from hip replacement if you bear the pain do it and take your pain meds for as long as possible trust me i have seen this happen.
Dr. Sculco, your THP surgeons should train better so that they can perform the Direct Anterior Approach hip surgery, it is less invasive with a shorter recovery period vs. the procedure all of your doctors at HSS perform. Maybe if you buy the right equipment, you might be able to really help THR patients. After seeing 3 of your doctors that only offered the old approach, I finally found the right one at NY Hospital for Joint Diseases. No hip dislocations & no restrictions and minimal pain!
Sculco has done both my hips. Yes post op pain & discomfort, but benefit enormous. You'll be walking within hours and quite freely in a couple of weeks. Don't fear of the operation; you'll be stiff and groggy when you wake up. Say "yes" to pain killers, probably < a week or 2 at most. Push yourself to walk more every day, even if it's at a snail's pace. Walk to a restaurant, have a cup of coffee and rest. Then walk back. Be thankful you have one of the best surgeons in the world on your team
Ha! I WISH the post op pain was gone after 2 to 3 days! I got up to walk the day of surgery but I most passed out ! I am healthy and only 34 years old. I am 8 days post op and just now starting to feel better. Pain lasts a good week. It is probably worth it in the long run but when one thinks they have just 2 to 3 days of pain and it lasts longer-it is a shock! ;)
I've had minor abdominal surgery at age of 17. I've also had a broken leg at age 14. FFWD....
I'm going to be cut open, then they're going to cut my leg muscles from the bone, then "SAW" the top of my thigh bone off, then "DRILL" inside my thigh bone, then "Hammer" and insert the spike/shaft into my bone (There's more, but....)
There's going to be very little pain within 3 days or less??!!! I seriously doubt it!
Worst pain I had was through surgery.

The pain is gone for the doctor because he receives his check and takes off to tour the world, his playground.

I'm at 10 weeks post-op and I'm in great pain, can't walk without aid.
My doctors think that I'm just in it for the norco (vicodin). Can you believe
that ? Something is definitely wrong here, how can they see anything on
those x-rays anyhow. I got 3 screws instead of the replacement, that must
be the problem in that the neck was broken off and the screws are not holding
it still. At what point do I say uncle ?
