I like learning kanji and vocabulary at the same time. They reinforce each other so you're learning a word as it's kanji and not sounds you haven't identified with yet. It probably works because it forms more connections in the brain. Also, if you can, try dividing your Japanese study time into 15 minute timed sessions and breaks. It makes you feel like you're achieving more because it's like a mini-game.
What I don't get is that he stated, You're lucky if you have a car in an earlier video, the first culture moment vid, I believe. So which is it, cars are bad, or you're lucky if you have one?
I hate cars because they stink up my air here. I've driven cars before I ain't holy or some shit. Cars are a luxury. You are lucky to have one if you do. I wish they didn't fuckin STINK or cost so much to use. That's all.
