I still love this guy. :D He's a REALLY nice person once you get to know him. He may seem like an asshole in interviews, but he isn't. He was confident going into his fight against Cro Cop and he did great. But... BIG NOG? BRENDAN, MY FRIEND, YOU ARE GOING TO DIE! My father trained with Minotauro in Brazil, and he almost broke my dad's jaw!
Other than being controlled in the clinch,Shaub looked good..He should consider dropping to 205lb..Hes capable of doing big yhings as a H-weight though (obviously)
i liked Schaub.....till he started running his mouth about retiring Cro Cop.
he is extremely arrogant and or ignorant to say something like that.
Cro Cop retired not b/c of his loss to someone like Schaub but b/c of his battles he fought throughout his 15 year mma/kickboxing career, his 60+ professional fights against some of the best in the world and add 5-6 surgeries and countless injuries...
now I heard he's calling out Big Nog....greatttttt
@kai0shin Oh come on. Cro Cop is old, but he still is/was a professional fighter when fighting Schaub. You wouldn't last two seconds with Cro Cop nor Big Nog in the ring (and neither would I). You gotta give props to Schaub, he did a great job.
there needs 2 be some change in the bigger divisions cro cop done better in this fight than we have seen in a while but i think was losing it before the ko i thought cro cop broke his arm the way he landed that looked fuckin nasty
Dana said mirco is done in ufc, I seriously hope this doesnt come true i would really hope he drops down in weight and trys there, hes WAY to small for heavyweight
you idiot, you admit he didn't have to take that last shot, yet you pounded his face anyway. I can expect that in a grudge match with lots of shit talking but come on bro.
I disagree on the Cruiserweight division. There aren't enough good fighters to fill it yet. Look at the Heavyweight Top 20, and split it into two divisions. You end up with some pretty lower tier guys in the Top 10 of both Cruiser and Heavyweight. When more good heavyweights enter the sport, it'll be time to split the division.
@sidecharge i think its from nick diaz but mayhem jus mocks diaz with it cuz diaz wont fight mayhem. i was laughing wen ariel said it tho. diaz is a bitch for not wanting to fight mayhem lol
Mirko threw his left high kick and I was happy to see that. Even though it didn't KO his ass, it was nice to see it.
That being said, Mirko is a legend of this sport, he is a true warrior and no man can say he isn't.
If he retires, I hope Dana give him some kind of press conference or something so the fans can ask questions and he can say whatever he wants to say and Ariel better be there cuz we all wanna watch that.
I've always had my eye on shuab since the ultimate fighter, but i never liked the guy personally, I'm glad you interview him, showed a lot about the guy ,really humble, seriously knocking out crocop is a big a deal.
fuck this if you weight over 236 that should be super heavyweight they need 206 to 235 and 236 to 265 cause this is crazy i look at people like roy lesnar and alot of these big boys that be in the high 250s frank mir i think its perfect for them cause come on someone thats 220 is gonna be much faster then a guy at 270 280 tanks for example fedor vs big foot beast vs someone in a much lower weight its just bananas 2 me
Cro Cop has a small head and he turns it to the side all the time, it's hard not to hit him there. Wasn't the KO punch in a similar spot? Wasn't Jones last knee illegal too? Speaking of Cruiserweight, that Jones body rip had some Nathan Corbett about it, former Cruiserweight Champion now Heavyweight Champion.
@MurrayBridgeBadAss No Jones's knee at the end was clean, it's only illegal if your opponent has a knee or both their knees on the mat. Shogun was wobbly and hunched over but he was still standing.
Cro-Cop looked good. The fight was going to a split decision, too bad he couldn't hang in there. I would have much rather see him lose a decision than to get KO'd. Just sad to see.
been a cro cop fan for a long ass time, but he's done. the guy was beast for years and age catches up to every fighter. no shame or sadness. just pride and respect.
@oOMaGMaHOo -Losing or Gaining 20+ lbs will affect either your power or cardio and 60lbs is a HUGE jump between weight classes , My point is if you are 230lb'er it's very hard to fight to lose the weight to fight at 205 weight class or gain enough to fight a 265lb'er, a 225lb weight class would be perfect for guys like Cro Cop , Fedor, Randy Couture,Ricco Rodriguez , and guys like Forrest Griffin or Quinton Jackson wouldn't have to cut weight so hard and I'm sure Jon Jones would fight at 225lbs
@oOMaGMaHOo - Have You ever lifted weights? , You generally need strength to be a fighter and of course their are exceptions with different styles , Muscle weights more than fat. Dan Henderson is much more of a K.O artist at 205lbs than at 170lbs.
Agree, 225 would be an excellent cruiserweight division. Many of the "old" heavyweights like Bas Rutten, Ken Shamrock, Fedor (yeyeye I know.....), Crocop etc. all were around 230 or so.
@BarackMcBush Forrest Griffin, Jon Jones, ect weigh 230+ pounds and they make it down to LHW, and even Lesnar at this point doesn't really cut that much weight, at this point I think that the only HWs that are truly outmatched in terms of size (Cro Cop, Pat Barry, ect) are at HW by choice. If anything, someone like Cain Velasquez who weighs 240 is much more dangerous than a Carwin or Lesnar because he is faster and has better cardio, but is still brutally strong.
@BarackMcBush I understand ur point & it does makes sense but Id hate to see the UFC begin to get out of control with TOO many weight divisions (like boxing)...If a guy needs to bulk up to get to 225lbs, maybe he belongs fighting in the 205lb division...
@nujrz4lyfe - Or a guy is naturally 220 lbs then , Everybody is complaining about "Bulking Up" , If You are a Fighter at 225lbs who is Power Puncher , If you lose 20-25lbs ,You will probably lose your power ,Muscle weights more than fat. 60lbs in between weight classes is a HUGE difference and makes hard for guys like Cro Cop or Couture to fight heavyweight.
@BarackMcBush there are a number of fighters who walk around 20lbs over there wieght division..Anderson walks around at 220..Lidell,Tito Oriz,Forest Griffin,Tiago Alves,BJ Penn ect.....have all been known to walk around at about 20lbs over ther weigh in weight...Sum guys have difficulty cutting that much weight & maintaining there strength &cardio, but ALOTTA guys do it successfully...(Branden Vera, the list goes on & on)
