I wonder if the new one actually does proper right-angle turns so it actually goes through the front-room door instead of twatting the skirting board?
Looks like an episode of the old school's programme Watch. What's interesting about this is that devices very much like Big-Trak are still used in primary schools today to teach co-ordinate systems, direction and measurement. The Bee-Bot is one example.
This thing was the best chrismas gift i ever got as a kid. Hell i even had the trailer u had 2 buy sepert it even raised up and dumped out what ever u put n it it was a great toy mattel should bring it back as a classic like they did with the hand held football game i would love 2 get my hands on 1 again
remember seeing this on tele as a kid. Always wanted one because I was a gadget freak - but never did get one :/ ! But great memories still of the advert from the 80's.
0:36 Sorry, explain what that is again? A brain???? haha.. Classic. Had one of these with the transporter trailer for tea and biscuits. Imagine my parents surprise when I programmed it to tip when it arrived at it's destination. And no mention of the photon laser cannon in this demonstration. Damn pacifists. lol.. Left mine under a recently oiled chain on my bicycle. Careless stoopid shit of a kid. Slap me. :D
Yay BigTrak, I loved mine as a kid, eventually sold it to get the money to buy a ZX81 ! (starting me on the slippery slope to being an IT sysadmin...doomed!)
I played with this to death as a kid,, Broke from over use + little brothers,, I have a brand new one in the Loft which I got off of Ebay a couple of years back which I am gonna give to my boy next christmas,,Hope he likes it as much as I did!
I had one - it was gray colored. It was my favorite toy ever. My father accidentally broke it with the rocking chair! He rocked back on it and - CRACK! Oh well, that's another reason I love Youtube.
OH WOW !!!! I haven't seen one of these in years. I was given one of these for my ninth birthday. It was AWESOME! It even had a laser weapon. I also had the trailer that went with it. You could deliver something and then drop it.
Wow I got one of these for xmas in the early 80's. I took it to school and was very popular that day! I wasn't allowed to take it after that though. Wish I still had it!
Very cool :-)
