  • Thanks for the nice comment. That was the most fun I ever had scoring music.

  • The only good cat is a dead cat!

  • Is that Kilrathi Tim Curry!?

  • @explorer47422 Yes, yes it is. Awesome isn't it?

  • @Tigerman1138 Very! I can't get over the amazing animatronics and have to keep reminding myself it's a game! Why the Kilrathi didn't look this good in the movie I don't know, but great soundtrack..

  • You know..the more I watch this I'm reminded of the Japanese surrendering on the Missouri after the bombs were dropped. Chris Roberts has himself said that Wing Commander was supposed to mimic World War II in space. If you think about it, the Kilrathi resemble the Japanese Empire...and in IV if you think about it the Black Lance are almost like the Nazi Party.

  • @NSAThrace that is an excellent observation.

  • Thrakkath obviously disliked this.

  • Ah. What a day for the Confederation.....and the pics will show Tolywn asking "What the hell did he just do to the document?"

  • Don't salute that Kilrathi! Bring him to Chinatown and turn him into an order of Kung-Pao Chicken!

  • Gee. Isnt it lucky that the massive Kilrathi warfleet happened to be orbiting the planet when it got blown up? Two birds with one stone indeed.

  • @SirCraigius

Well actually in the briefings a large majority of their fleet is in orbit.

  • holy shit Tim Curry played Melek?

  • Angel died?

    Origin quality assurance

  • MAJOR Taggart?

off by about three ranks, Origin quality assurance

  • @wooite I remember her from the rise of taj

  • If the Tea Party movement was around back then, Sarah Palin would blame Obama for what Hobbes did... lol

  • Lol they finally got what they deserved for killing me dozens of times in Wc1 and 2.

  • I remember how some people in Ireland complained about Ginger Lynn playing Rachel.

Two months later in Germany, I remember people there complaining about blasting Kilrah to bits...

And today, I still remember LOVING THIS GAME!!!

  • I have always felt a little sorry for the Kilrathi.

They got what was coming to them though.

  • Anyone noticed that Melek (the Kilrathi that surrenders to Blair) was voiced by Tim Curry

  • @paxtofettel I did remember noticing that. It's actually pretty incredible how much talent was in this game. Almost all of them character actors but GOOD character actors.

  • @paxtofettel I just did!

    HOLY FUCK!

  • The actress who play Rachel is a porn star.

  • In case people are wondering, the Joshua Lucas who played Flash in this game is the same Josh Lucas of Stealth fame.

  • hooray for genocide!

  • "Isn't that the guy from Star Wars?" Now when I first seen this after I beat the game I LOL'ed thought it was a awesome bit by Maniac.

  • Mark Hamill, still the hero too, he was Luke Skywalker in Star Wars.

  • Thank you very much for these videos. I played through Wing Commander 4 a few times, but I only think I played through 3 once, if at all. God bless you!

  • This reminds me of WW2 with the two bombs going down on Japan. The Kilrathi were much like the Japs. I think this was a desperate attempt by confed to end the war once their main weapon the behemoth failed. Like Tolwin said in Wing Commander 4 that "our victory over the kilrathi was a fluke."

  • The comparison does not work. Confed was on the verge of defeat and the Temblor Bomb was a measure of last resort. The Americans already knew they were going to win the war Japan (since Germany was defeated and Japan had no access to oil), the US just wanted to avoid excessive casulties by using nukes.

  • Great shot kid that was one in a million!

  • @DaCidre I wasn't the only one to see the trench run for a STAR WARS homage was I?

  • All that's missing to make the Star Wars homage complete is Thrakhath's fighter spinning away from the destroyed Kilrah :)

  • @Tigerman1138 hahaha of course! It's Luke Skywalker!

  • This game was incredible, ground-breaking, and dramatic as hell. Don't hate the game, hate the playa!

  • That's a problem with your computer, not the game.

  • Chris Roberts didn´t lie when we wanted to make WW2 in space

Soo Temblar bomb = Nuclear bomb?

  • That is alot of burden to carry for the heart of the tiger, killing millions if not billions of kilrathi.

I'm curios as to what the terrans have done with the kilrathi, where they have sent them to rebuild their race???

  • An uneasy peace exists between the Kilrathi remnant and the Terran Confederation. By WC4, Melek is basically the overall leader. They were all but disarmed according to the peace terms, and Blair & Company ends up having to help them deal with the rogue Confed element that starts stirring up trouble. In the opening cinematic of Prophecy, Kilrah is still there, albeit completely uninhabitable, with a gaping hole slowly ejecting the planet's core to space where the Temblor Bomb was laid down.

  • Which I found wierd because WC3 clearly shows the entire planet blow up leaving no trace.

Then again they're a few "plot holes" between the games.

I mean in WCP - Hawk seemed to have known Iceman and Blair. And that Iceman died before the Tiger's Claw destruction. Where as its hinted at that Blair didn't know Hawk, just his rep until WC4.

  • Remember, Chris Roberts didn't have much if anything to do with Prophecy. WC ends with WC4, as far as I'm concerned. Also, Prophecy, although having great gameplay and a graphics upgrade (sorely needed!) was kind of a garbage entry into the WC universe. The music was totally out of keeping with the Space Opera feel, and it just felt sloppily written.

  • @chillyche totally wrong.

  • @dtfageet In what way is that totally wrong? It's CLEARLY sloppily written, that's not open to much debate, the music is largely electronic and techno which is definitely out of character for the other 4 games which relied on a cinematic score to fit into the space opera genre. The game itself really didn't even need to be Wing Commander, since it had so little continuity with the previous games other than names of characters and places and things.

  • @chillyche Ok not totally wrong but Prophecy was a great game in its own right.

  • @dtfageet It was a rush to play, I really liked the swarm missiles (made me feel like I was in Robotech/Macross), and the engine was fantastic for the time. I just wish they could have married great gameplay to an engaging and worth story, so it could have been a true Wing Commander experience.

  • The Kilrathi had many other planets and colonies other than Kilrah, so most of them are supposed tohave broken off into independent clans.

As for killing billions of Kilrathi, well, they were 24 hours away from doing the same to Earth. Them or us, I guess.

  • I completed this game to the very last mission when I was a nipper and dropped the T bomb and then the game went into a loop due to a damaged disc. Never got to see how it ended unitl now. Awesome right up until Flints rapier wit!!!

She sucked ass through a straw!!!!

  • This was such an awesome game. Took me years to complete it because my aim sucked as a kid and my computer and discs both went bust before they were replaced. Definitely a awesome ending.

Am I the only one who thinks Earth looks pretty barren from orbit? I mean, I know we've probably overrun the planet with industry by that point, but it isn't very blue or green at all, is it?

  • I was kinda thinking of that as well, but for all we know, that could be just another Terran planet. It might not be Earth at all.

  • Love the last 5 seconds. lol.

"Isnt that the guy from Star Wars?"

  • Yes, he is.

  • Tom Wilson is awesome!

  • He is indeed.

I think you should head to wcnews' holovid section and watch the bloopers.

  • WCIII had one of the best game soundtracks ever. Shame they couldn't afford a real orchestra to record it.

  • I was smoking my victory joint after beating this game way back when and I nearly died laughing when I saw the cookie recipe they had put into the credits becasue they were so damn long.

  • Agh. Rachel. Always thought she was kind of annoying.

  • yes...please make ending with Flint (even if its not considered canon, Flint is far more enthusiastic, smart and pretty

  • hmm or sexy!

  • holy crap .. the shuttle for the credits move very quick ! :P

  • The utter pain I went through to beat this game and the ending was totally worth it please need to see wc prophecy ending

  • I remember playing this on the 3DO. One of the most satisfying endings in a videogame!

  • Thanks for posting these man. Takes me back.

    On to WC4!

  • Thanks so much for this all dude - brings back massive memories.

This was the first game I ever bought for the Playstation for the sole purpose of the cinematic aspect. If only the "movie" we got in theaters was like this version.

  • "Do it then, it won't bring back your homeworld." Man, even in the face of death Blair is still defiant until the end. That's what I would do if I was about to possibly die. Stay defiant, and go out in a blaze of glory. The Heart of the Tiger rules! Greatest ending to a game, ever!

  • sure in your dreams, youd be crying for your mommy and begging them to spare your life.

Heart of the tiger rules indeed though

  • I don't know about that. Ever see "V for Vendetta." Sometimes in life, faced with death, and knowing you will not be able to avoid it...allows us to be free, be tough, and be strong. See FIGHT CLUB too.

  • Did you EVER see what happens if you eject from your ship and get tractored? You are brought before the captor of Angel. You are then given the choice of begging for your life or not. I chose not

Blair, looks both ways, and motions the Kilrathi closer as if to whisper. The Kilrathi glares comes closer. With a smile and defiant look Blair says, "Screw you!"

"VERY WELL, Heart of the Tiger, a warrior's end." He then proceeds to claw your stomach and raise you in the air the way he did Angel.

  • Of course i saw the alternate ending, i'd rather go out with honor than begging for my life though,

  • Is that a video from... never mind ;-)

  • Bravo! Bravo! Whoo! Humanity triumphs agaisnt incredible odds!

  • Thank you for posting these. I was never great at playing the game, so never managed to beat it.
