Husband blew my mind when he came home with 2 tix to the Blind Melon show at the Vogue in Indiana. Then Shannon's daughter Nico Blue came out and sang with the band on No Rain and Change. It was mesmerizing and humbling, who this little girl's dad was and how much she obviously connected with his music. One of my Top 5 concert moments, and in 20 years of shows that include Def Leppard, Dylan & Clapton? Legendary, epic, mythic, choose your own adjective it was f*cking amazing.

To me, Travis is right alongside Shannon in the "awesome songs to rock to" category. It isn't just Shannon or Travis, it is the whole band. Without the walking bass lines, rhythm guitar that could make a stone dance, lead guitar singing the alternate verse, and drum tracks that my steering wheel LOATHES, neither would be more than cheesy karaoke acts belting out Journey and Sammy Hagar.

I love Travis' voice and lyrics, and he made a kick-ass record with Blind Melon, who have distinguished themselves as perhaps THE finest band working in rock music today. I look forward to their next project and tour with a new vocalist.

beings both singers, Travis and Chris sound similar to Shannon, you can't blame them. Maybe the band as a whole wants that. Travis's voice, along with Chris' are the type of voices I enjoy most. Raspy rawness. It's obvious, Shannon will never be replaced, but to lash at Travis, is kinda wrong. Given the irony that Chris and he both have a similar sound to Shannon, obviously it's deeper than him just singing, possibly the bands wants. If the next guy is like that, we'll know.

I don't think most BM listeners realize just how much back up singing Brad has done on their albums (He complemented Shannon's voice perfectly). Check out mercy by Abandoned Jalopy. It is the album Brad Smith put out after the death of Shannon and I think the boys joined him on a few songs too. It is a great album (my opinion). So much so that I think I am going to put it in now!!

Long time fan. Seen them live recently? OMG. A MUST. Truly a thrilling experience. Rogers? Ok, I was basically in front of him in Grand Rapids this summer, and I don't want to go overboard with superlatives, but he's bloody good. Glen works his ass off every track and just gets it done.
