  • Marching bands are gay...every thing about it

  • I'm just so amazed that this actually *exists* for marching band. Don't know much about music and how it should sound, really. But I do know that I like this a lot!

  • not bad db but man you guys should get some white uniforms it would look so much nicer

  • wow how many people are marching right now your huge!

  • I really liked the performance :)

  • i might go to dbhs as a freshman :]

    dang,

the band's pretty good tho! :O

dont they hav orchestra or regular concert band w/e? O.o

  • At least with Mr. Lorenzen, the band still had a marching band that competed =/.

  • @azyndragon89 The parade band still competes. Mr. Acciani has done magic with the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. People need to stop focusing on only one aspect.

  • @kacc53 Lol I know the parade band still competes. If you watched the video of them playing at arcadia you would have seen that I commented great job guys! But still, it would be nice if Mr. A kept up with field band. Saying as how the field show was the main focus, I'd say that's "one aspect" that should not have been left out. If you ask any of the graduates and ask them which they enjoyed of the two I bet you most of them would say the field show because everyone got to participate.

  • @azyndragon89 To avoid confusion, by participate I meant they were all working on the same goal and weren't sorted by their skill level for the field show besides the year prior to this one. I know there are varsity and junior varsity parade which is how it's always been but the interaction with the section isn't the same when you're separated like that. I am glad about the progress your dad has been making though, to pull second at Arcadia is awesome. I was just stating how much I missed field

  • @azyndragon89 As a matter of fact I am a graduate, and was there when the change happened. The general reaction was actually very pleased about the switch. Obviously there was a couple people who didn't like it, but as a general rule it was well-received. And you HAVE to listen to the Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. It will blow your mind, it is so amazing.

  • @kacc53 Haha of course you're a graduate. The only one who hasn't graduated yet in your family is McKenna lol. There's no doubt in my mind that Mr. A knows music, that was never the question. I highly doubt any of them would actually say something to your face since you are the director's son. Of course it's going to be well received from your view but the field show was part of the legacy. It felt like he threw away the work we put into the band. When half the WS ditches band something is wrong

  • @azyndragon89 As a matter of fact I have had people tell me they don't like the change, but as a general rule (from hearing what other people are told) it's been a good response. Some of the best players were driven away from the band program because they were forced to do marching band, I know a few personally. And we never even placed well when Mr. Lorenzen was there (and trust me, you don't want to get me started on him.)

  • @azyndragon89 And thanks for questioning my credibility because you were smart enough to figure out who I was.

  • @kacc53 Lol come on dude, I like you as a person because I do know who you are and you know who I am but you have to admit that being the director's son you have to be at least SLIGHTLY biased. Just like how I would be biased to say idk my parent's restaurant if they did own one. I'm not blaming you in the slightest way, I did have Mr.A teach me for a long time so I know what he can do. Your dad knows how to pull out the magic when he needs to, I'll give him that.I hope people do like the change

  • @kacc53 The only reason why I would bother making a comment like that is because I heard people talking about how they hated Mr. L and then I saw a bunch of comments talking about your dad talking down about the program before he got there. I know all about how displeased people were about having to do marching band with Mr. L, like your brother and his football buddies. But do you think stopping marching band altogether was the best decision?

  • @kacc53 I have no problems with Mr. A as I do respect your dad since he did teach me for several years and I do stand behind what he's doing with the program, just not in this one aspect.

  • @azyndragon89 Better clarify marching band to just the field show part so we don't go into parade again.

  • whats the song that begins at 2:00?

  • one short day

  • @xthewilliam Its called "One Short Day"

  • I wanna do this show soooo bad!

  • damn that fool died?!

  • yea. I was in his band when it happened. Its terrible.

  • i'm in this too :D

  • me too :D hi kev

  • OMG BEAUTIFUL

  • he died yesterday in his office at murrietta valley. =[.

  • of course.. leave it to lorenzen to man such an amazing show... it drove me to tears... R.I.P. mr. lorenzen.. we love you.. you'll forever be in our hearts... -all your former and present students

  • i'm in this :D

  • why does Mr Acciani hate this performance so much?

  • AHHH no good deed was amazing:)

  • woah! i love this show lol i hope my band is that good this year :)

  • This is a really good show =D

  • Wow! Great job you guys!

    AMAZING!

  • 5 Stars!!!! THAT WAS SOOOOO COOL!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear you guys preformsome time, since I'm going to Ayala Highschool next year and I'm probbly going to be in the band I will get to see Diamond Bar at competitions and stuff!!!! Man, I would be so happy ifwe did Wicked...

  • Haha, thanks for the comment, but this was like 4 years ago, things have change a lot, haha, DB isn't as good anymore, but they still have that golden sound (somewhat), and good for you, you go to Ayala, I wished I went there, you guys go to BOA one of the best experiences ever!

  • Ya I don't go to Ayala YET. I'm starting 8th grade in a month, so I'll go NEXT year. lol I'm really excited cuz this year I'm in the advanced band and 80% of kids in advanced band get into marching band. :D I'm 5th of 20 chairs, so I've got a pretty good chance...

  • and btwIjust came back from Wicked San Diego!!! GO DONNA VIVINO AND KATIE ROSE CLARKE!!!

  • 100 you still go to DB or are you graduating? Senior year next for me.

  • Um, I finished a long time ago, I just know a lot because I have friends and family still in band

  • I thought band was cut from diamond bar high school?

  • Um no, they have marching band, but because of bugget cuts the rehearsals are during school and they are only doing parade comp, they do not have field comp

  • Oh cool. I hope they do well at parades then!

  • The big hit in Defying Gravity was great, and it was a really cool set

    great job guys!!

  • Geez...this was my very last performance in marching band.

  • Good Tone!!

  • oh man.... this is great memories. my first and only year on snare line; i wasn't the best, but i have so damn many good memories from this show haha.

  • Your drill concepts are limited big-time by the size of your ensemble. Also, there's not much in the way of dynamic contrast, and it seems like you're stuck sub-164 the entire time.

  • They aren't really limited by their size, its one of their advantages, can't really agree with you on the other stuff

  • the only advantage of a large ensemble size is sound production and dynamics which is not well done in this show (based on the video).

    the drill isn't even clean

  • Well you need to tell that to my small ass band then lol. But until we win a grand champion, u r so wrong.

  • Also the only time the band plays loud is on sustained notes (end of opener and closer). Need some more sound production and dynamics, really weak for such a large band.

  • That is true, but if you were actually at this competition, you would know that this band was one of the loudest there, but I do have to agree with you, this wasn't one of DB's best, and the DVDs from this competition never get how loud the bands actually were!

  • It's probably the video but why is your band's dynamics so horrible..lol

  • i really liked it,i think they did a really good job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that ripple part in 6:18 was really cool :)

  • i loooooved for good in there. that was def. my favorite part. i go to a tiny high school with about 200 people and we have 20ish in band. we're good, but we so limited in what we can play. it makes me sad lol. i play percussion... there are two of us, and we usually have to play a ton of parts each for all the songs.

  • Cool and that sucks, but the good part, you get to play a ton of parts

  • I'm so jealous - you're so big!

    Verrry nice sound.

  • Not the first time you've said that.

  • Niiice, Capt. Douche.

  • I'm sorry, couldn't resist.

  • thats what she said :p jk but hey DBHS thanks for letting us(Pacific Crest) use your field for rehearsals. I think I met some of you when we did the pepsi commercail lol

  • lmao, and what pepsi commercial, you guys did one, when?

  • ya, kids from DBHS were in it cuzz marching bands dont have only brass in them you know lol. ya we did a pepsi commercial in like january 2006. Aired in may and was on spanish tv first, then regular television. Basically its a parade, a snare drummer sees a girl with a pepsi bottle, goes out of the block, drinks it, starts playing a reggaeton beat and the marching band starts dancing out of nowhere lol. half the band is in red and the other half is in blue so we could make the pepsi sign lol

  • Oo, thanks nice, January 06, thats a while back aha

  • Haha.. wow... I was so out of tune, I could shoot myself! (trumpet soloist... and not proud).

  • Lol, sucks, but still, nice job, it wasn't bad, crowd still went crazy, although did Lorenzen kill you after?

  • I think the title is a little bit self-glorifying.

  • I know, I just like it a lot, lol

  • how many members the one that im going to has around 250

  • youknow i really wish high school bands were that big up in NY. but hey thats why i started marching DCA

  • Lol, yea, I wish that too, just wondering, whats DCA?

  • drum corps association i think

  • too bad i was a wee 8th grader

  • good memories... snare line fsho

  • interesting

  • nice!

  • thank you for this upload! <3

  • No problem!

  • Yea, I know its not the best but I like it too much, lol

  • awesome band! Cool Music!

    okay drumline...

  • wow finally!

what a great christmas gift :)

  • was this like BOA or something?

  • No, this was Arcadia Festival of Bands, its just here because Citrus College was redoing the field

  • oh Festival. You know how these guys scored? These guys are clean. It would be cool if they played something at a faster BPM.

  • we got 5th place, 89.05

  • Its not really a festival, its really a big tournament with like 20 bands, or around there, and it has 6 of California's top 10 bands there.

I think 160 is already fast man, lol

Yea, they are clean, 89.05, but they were cheated for sure, they really deserved like 91 or 92

  • 160 is pretty fast, but my high school did 200 in Malaguena this year. That was not fun.

  • wow, that sucks, never went that fast
