I know a Vietnam vet who served in the Marines. He said that the scariest soldiers over there were the "Blue Dragons", the South Korean Marines. The North Vietnamese and Viet Cong were terrified of them, and were under orders not to engage them in combat unless they were 100% certain of victory ( which was almost never the case ).

The Chinese in 1984, after one bitter and unbelievably bloody ass kicking by the Vietnamese Army in1979, were finally able to outfit each man in their Army with a helmet and an automatic rifle. Even so, in the 1984 border skirmish with the Vietnamese they pretty fairly got their asses handed to them again. There are videos of combat from both of those wars here on YouTube. Irregular warfare does not equate to terrorism.

In korea McCarther rolled the NKA and wanted to keep going on to china but truman fired him.The americans had what 25,000 soldiers and maybe = that in UNforces holding ground against 600,000 chinks.
In vietnam the highest troop count the americans had at 1 time was around 500,000 and at this time 60% or more were support not actual combat personel.After TET most of the VC was wiped out.

Bay of pigs was just 1 battle, it was not a war because the US didn't mobilize even %10 of their army.
