  • I wanna see how your hair looks now! :)

  • How do you get your hair to curl from the start after you cut all of the perm off

  • @itsjustbre this is my natural hair curl pattern, its just naturally curls this way, but it doesn't look much this way once it dries. thats the hard part.

  • i used the zuresh and my hair got tangled and came out really bad only dye on the hair .no relaxer.

  • i love your hair great job on your hair growth.

  • your hair look the same way as mind when it is wet.

  • Omg! We have the same curl pattern!!! I've been viewing different YouTube videos on how to treat my natural hair and this one has helped the most. I hope we can keep in touch!! (:

  • Congratulations! Great Journey.

  • i hav tht iron :( it sux

  • I love the music in your video :)

  • Nice hair

  • Your natural hair is so beautiful, why were you perming....I am starting over after going natural for two years and relaxing....currently bald...but your video is inspirational...:)

  • awwwwwwwwwwww tha in 2 years? nice

  • AMAZING VIDEO...IT GREW JUST THAT FAST HUH.....ENCOURAGEMENT....ENCOURAGEMENT!!!

  • LOVE your hair ma<3

  • you have such beautiful natural health

  • Wow! very inspirational!

  • Hi..Great video. I did my BC in Nov. '10 & wonder which clay that you use for washing..also how often? Every day? And how do you mix your conditioner? Shea Butter too? I use Shea, Coconut oil, & Giovanni's Shampoo/Conditioner right now.

  • KISS YOUR HAND 10 TIMES

    SAY YOUR CRUSH 15 TIMES

    POST TO 2 OTHER VIDEOS

    LOOK AT YOUR HAND

  • is it ok to flat iron your hair once a week with heat protectants?

  • @TiyahAmariENT,

I wouldn't recommend heat so often, I personally do not use heat at all in my hair. I will be making a video in a few months, I recently cut my hair and so I am somewhat starting again.

  • @Trudy465 How comes you cut your hair?

  • what is thT SONG CALLED

  • WHAT WERE YOU USING TO MAKE IT GROW LIKE THAT ? IVE DONE THE SAME THINGS WHEN MY HAIR BROKE OFF , IITS SHORT LIKE THAT .... AND SAME EXACT CURL BUT LIGHTER PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU USED CUZ IM TIRED OF WEARING WEAVE ... :(

  • i love that song!!

  • Would love to see ur progress today

  • Does you hair naturaly have a curl patter like that?

  • Hi Trudy great video and length! I had my last relaxer in August 2006. I never did the Big Chop but gradually cut the relaxed part off as it grew off &and I was not a consistent permer, maybe twice a year and that was with "Beautiful Beginnings" (Child Perm) due to the softness of my hair. Now I keep my hair braided either micros or sew ins, and have never worn it in its "natural state". I have been "natural" almost five years I have not experienced growth and a change in texture like you. Tips?

  • That was very encouraging and I loved the song Thank you :)

  • Nice. My hair is wild, shorter than your. I think I need to cut maybe an inch off and start using different products. How do you feel about good ole Mana and Tail??? I'm just very used to using it, its in my regimine. Anyway, have a blessed and keep doing what your doing!

  • @tulukakid

Right now I only use natural products on my hair. clay for shampoo. I make my own conditioner with Mayo and Eggs and honey and olive oil. I make my own gel. I am going more natural for trying to remain healthy and its saves money. My hair is currently in twist right now. so protective styling for a while.

  • @Trudy465 what kinda clay are you using? are you using terressentials? by the way, congrats on the decision of using more natural products. I'm in the same boat as you and it's been the best decision i've made to go natural & make sure what i put on & in my body is natural. sooo much healthier!!!

  • @Trudy465

I am on a quest on transitioning to all natural products as well but always gets stuck on a few products...mind sharing how you create your own gel and? I know you can buy clay to wash your hair with and making conditioners in not hard but gel? never heard of it!

  • Finally someone with gospel music playing :) lol really pretty hair

  • whats the name of the song? and who is it by?

  • you shouldve had a pic at the end of ur hair not wet but dry

  • @chinwese

why? I had been taking pictures of my length, which you can't see in its natural state. you can only see the Afro? you would not be able to tell anything at all. My hair is shoulder length now and when its in its natural state its above my ears. It doesn't show progress.

  • I BC'd about 5 months ago... and just wondering: Is the amount of growth you experienced "normal?"

lol sorry if that sounds like a silly question... I'm just amazed at this video and look forward to growing out my hair long and pretty like yours!

  • @GoldenGoddessO9

Yes, everyone hair grows at a different rate, my hair grows very slow but I have growth spurts. where I will get alot of growth over few months and then it will go back to being slow. Just take care of yourself drink plenty of water and eat healthy. Take care of your hair get regular trims avoid harsh chemicals and grease and anything that will harm your hair and you will see a difference. that's what I did and my hair started to grow. I keep it moisturize and protected

  • @GoldenGoddessO9

I think everyone has a moment in time where they have a growth spurt, I had mines from September to December, basically thats when mines hit. Everyone is different. My hair is no longer as long as it was in the video I cut it short and have it currently in twist. I liked wearing it straight and that put a lot of damage on my hair so I am currently growing it back. i will post a recent picture when I come out the braids.

  • @Trudy465

That is a very true statement. Mine appeared not to grow for 5 full months last year. I went to Ghana in West Africa for 6 weeks over december and january (got back 2 weeks ago) and my hair grew so much that I am having to answer lots of random questions about what I did to make my hair grow like that. To be honest, my holiday in Africa was probably the only time over the past 18 months that I barely washed it, forget about deep conditioning or anything else. I just wet it alot.

  • pretty hair

  • I went natural back in summer. I cant cut off my hair though because my hair grows slow. But I oil my scalp and you can tell my hair is stronger at my roots. I love how the curls look, and I love my hair and cant wait till it is completely grown.

This video is very inspiring for me and other african americans who hope to go natural. You have some GOOD hair.!!

  • I am glad I came across this inspiring video. I did my bc in feb, 2010 and like you I hate to cut more in april, because i still had some perm on my ends, but now I LOVE MY NATURAL HAIR...My hair has grown tremendously and it is full, thick, and healthy. I never knew the full benefits of going natural. I use aubrey products, but i am seeking Aloe Vera Gel 100% and coconut oil. CONGRADULATION on your hair growth.

  • So inspiring.. i love ur progress ma x

  • Hi! i just did the BC and i was trying to get all the porducts u have however i can't read them. Can u please send me the names thank you :)

  • @MsFelicia1975

I used natural products. Coconut oil , cold pressed,. Olive oil, jojoba oil, rosemary oil. etc., Some things work good and some things do not. Olive oil doesn't work that good on my hair. Sometimes its trial and error.

  • Trudy, I love the hair and looking how well your hair has progressed. I believe my hair will reach that length soon. I've BC in August and I notice hair growing. I use natural hair products too! but how did you get your sides to get so smooth?. I don't use hair gel, do you think I should, I worry about flaking after its dry? Please respond.

  • DO YOU DEEP CONDITION YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY OR WHAT , BECAUSE I JUST RECENTLY DID MY BC AND I NEEDED HELP ON MY DAILY ROUTINES

  • @debbie2009able

No once a week, alternate with protein and moisturizing conditioner.

  • @Trudy465

I would love to see an update, it's been two years now. Your hair must look fantastic!!!

  • @debbie2009able

Once a week or once every other week. Protect your ends and deep condition more often, and get regular trims.

  • God bless your hair is so beautiful you inspired me to go natural again....Thanks for that lovely video...

  • y did u bc twice?

  • @tamayaware

The first time, it wasn't completed. I still had straight hair so I went and chopped it down futher, my bang grew back in straighter so I had to cut that a few times.

  • ur natural texture is sooo beautiful

  • @honeyebby

thank you, I wish it looked like that dry, when it dries its a whole other story.

  • update!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @hotties3v3n

I know since I was going waist length, but with everything there is trail and error. and I wanted to wear my hair straight and the stylist did not put heat protectant on my hair and so it was damaged. I am thinking of the Big Chop again. I just hate the thought of the process again. But I have a different mindset, just healthy hair growth later.

  • A very inspirational video which I really enjoyed watching.

I died cut my bum length hair to above shoulder and cried for months afterwards, big mistake! I can't wait for it to grow, luckily mine grows fast, but I am going to buy rosemary oil,it sounds good.

    Hope yours continues growing :)

  • @111akasha Try supplements too! It helps!

  • @eyerize37 yes like msm, biotin and multi vits. but I dont' use any of this stuff it harmed my belly. Just try to eat healthier.

  • inspiring video. Thank you!

  • GREAT VIdeo!!! Your curl pattern is beautiful!!! :)

  • great vid!!!!11

  • you have really beautiful natural hair unbelievableam aiming 4 that.lol

  • ou have beautiful natural hair, your story reminds me of mine. I had long hair then in middle school my mom put on my first perm it broke off I was hardly able to grow it past the middle of my neck. I started transitioning last year [im 20] I BC'd in the beginning of June now I have two inches of growth my hair is now at the base of my neck and Im excited to think about where it will be for the fall!

  • girl, i was doing relaxers every TWO WEEKS!!! I finally learned about haircare and its been about 1yrand 2 months since I started taking care of my relaxed hair, but Im about to go natural so wish me luck

  • Trudy465....you showed a picture of an avocado and shea butter etc in your video.. does that means you used these items in your hair.. Also the oils you said you used, where did you purchased them? thanks in advance.... very inspirational

  • @bigbrother504 Yes I don't use shea butter right now because I ran out and haven't order any more but yes. Everything in my video I used. but as your hair grows so does your needs change. I hope that makes sense, things I used when it was in the in between phase I don't use now. I keep it simple now. just moisturizer and oils on the ends that pretty much it.

  • this was beautiful. Stay bless

  • Hey Lady - I had to create an account just to send you this message....I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU. Of all the videos I have watched, this one inspired me to go natural. I was sitting here just about to relax my hair, and now I have changed my mind and I am going for natural. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH. I KNOW THAT IWILL have the same results. (PEACE BABY)

  • I love the video. The music was a perfect choice and made me so proud I chose to go natural Great job girl!

  • Did you have to do the big chop?

  • @MCLambDahling3000

I did, others worked with it. I could not do it. I hated washing my hair and dealing with the horrible tangles. I had enough I didn't feel like it was worth it. So I went and had it chopped off twice, the girl didn't' take off enough in the front. I went back and still she left me some and when I got home I cut it myself. but I researched as much as I could about natural hair and I had already had my hair cut off in the back and I thought I was ready. it wasn't easy.

  • okay the song is "you survive" by james fortune& fiya God bless : )

  • omg what song is this. its giving me chills !

  • yay!!!! i'm a natural newbie and u have motivated me to keep going : ) i'm already noticing it growing back fast and my goal is the same as urs hip length right now its only 2 in in back 3-4 in the top but its only been a month : )

  • i think i have an idea of what it is but what is "hand in ur hair disease?"

  • @Shantilicious19, when you are new natural your hair feels so funny to you, its either soft or very curly or springy. In any case its hard to keep your hands out of your hair. Which can lead to breakage.

  • @Trudy465 yessss bcuz i noticed when i had a perm i just let my hair blow over my head and never had to worry bcuz it fell back into place. but now that in natural im always usin my fingers to brush back my edges or twirlin at them twisting them and yes, i see the results lol

  • BEAUTIFUL

    THEHAIRLAB(dot)ning(dot)com

  • you have beautiful hair!!!!!!!!

  • Nice! I'm happy for you gurlll!! Do you do any protective styling? If so, what kind? My hair type is similar to yours.

  • @BabyGem16 I try to. right now its either in a puff or in a bun.

  • Not that serious people sorry if i offended you

  • 25justlook...did you ever think that just like white people have straight, curly, and wavy hair textures that black people also have various textures as well. It can be tightly call coild, loose, wavy, etc. We know so little about our natural hair its a shame.

  • my hair isnt natural but my hair is at the middle of myback pass my bra strap. i perm it once every 3 mo. and i put natural grwoth oil in my hair once a week and im14

  • @samanthagirl232 thats wonderful, I am truly happy for you. I wish my hair would grow so long so quickly but it doesn't. Some people have it like that that they don't have to do to much and it grows like weeds, but the rest of us folks have to work so hard at it. I have 3c 3b probably some 4A in there hair and its not easy on me. I wish my hair would grow faster but it just doesn't. but its growing thats all that really matters

  • I love ur hair wen its wet and curly. And u did survive don't listen to haters. But what is hand in hair disease??

  • Oh boy, I remember blue magic.

  • being fair complexioned does not mean you are mixed or have a curl pattern. I'm light complexioned and i have dark complexioned friends with curlier hair then mine. i have the coarsest, dryest, kinkiest, no curl pattern natural hair you would have ever seen and i have since come to embrace what i have and to not try to manipulate my hair into having something that it doesn't

  • gorgeus

  • I have started eating better and taking multi-vitamin and my hair is doing the same thing. My daughter was like "WOW" At the end of the month I am gonna put micro locs in my hair. Natural is so much easier

  • @Modacolorist BTW I am a chocolate sister with GROWING kinky hair. :-D To ALL my sisters no matter where you fit in the rainbow- DO YO THANG :-D. Its our hair, its our time!

  • @25justlook I am one of those "darker colored girls" going natural...thanks for the warning, though I am fully aware of how kinky my natural hair is. And guess what? I don't care. This whole "good hair, bad hair" thing is extremely antiquated, meaningless, and ignorant.

  • @25justlook This comment is pretty sad. Whatever race you are, you still have "good hair" it just works differently then others. This is very sad and I am very disappointed. I had this hair all my life and its still short. I haven't reached my goals yet I just barely grasp it. We all have different curl patterns the key is how to work with it. I struggle with this hair of mine its not easy, it might look easy but its not at all.

  • @25justlook ALL HAIR can grow, provided we all go back to eating REAL & HEALTHY food. Not only CAN & WILL hair grow, but we can get off ALL the toxic overpriced medication the white devil sells. To all my sister from the creamy vanilla - to the deepest rich chocolate. ALL HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL. Its time for us to come out of the lies that the LYNCH letter put us in.

  • @25justlook I'm a brown skin girl still going through my transition (4 months until the BC!) and my natural hair looks just like hers when it's wet, and I'm fully black. A person's complexion has nothing to do with the curl pattern of their hair. Also, she may be light skinned, but that doesn't mean that she's mixed--not all light skinned people are.

  • @25justlook Your comment is crazy! I have that curl pattern too and I'm black with darker skin than her. Not all african americans have the same hair type. Just because she has a lighter complexion doesn't mean she is not 100% black. Everybody can grow hair long quickly if it is healthy and they take care of it . You need to educate yourself.

  • @25justlook And by the way I have seen some mixed people with kinkier hair than black people have.

  • @25justlook there are different hair texture just because someone's hair is curly like that does not mean they have to be mixed my best friend is Jamaican her skin looks blue black but her hair looser more defined curls than she has. not everyone has kinky hair or nappy hair that's black there is no restricted hair type and for you to make an ignorant comment just goes to show your intelligence.

  • @25justlook my curl pattern is like that and im certainly darker than that.. & last time i check BOTH my parents are black =)

  • @25justlook ..My hair looks like this when its wet and I'm a chocolate black girl so what are u saying???? When I take care of my hair and keep it moisturized people think I have a process or something in my hair but when I don't it looks like a cotton ball.

  • @25justlook WOAH

i cant believe you just sad that

why cant she be african american and have that kind of hair??

eveyr one has different curl patterns

  • What a bold showcase. Truly inspiring! I am in the beginning stages of transitioning. What I wouldn't give for this process to go faster. Braids in next week I tell you I cant wait.

  • i too love this song.

but i would like to point out that this lady does have nice hair but she haswhat we black people term as good hair so it will be easier for her hair to grow then coarse hair and her hair will grow quicker- we need too look at genetics in this case, wheras i prefer black women who have natural negro hair that people think cant grow and they show HOW LONG THERE HAIR IS

  • whats the name and artist of this song i love itt, and LOVE the hair!!!

  • hands in your hair disease lol

  • What did you do with your Maxiglide? Still use it?

  • rarely, I like my hair in its natural state more then I do straight.

  • Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

  • Go sista!

  • This is so inspiring!!!

  • damn girl look how much it grew! ur hair grows fast.

  • I am learning If we only could be satisfied with our natural hair and selves a lot of us would have more hair. I am not knocking people who use relaxers. I still do too, but eventually I am going to stop. Black is beautiful.

  • luv tht song!!!

  • Very Inspirational :)

  • GREAT PROGRESS!!! That is awesome :-)

    -Rochelle.

  • what is the henna suppost to do?

  • Henna is a very powerful deep conditioning herb. It really is amazing in what it does!

  • hand in ur hair disease lol, grl i got it to

  • Your hair is so purty! I just shaved mine off a month and a half ago! SO I'M EXCITED!

  • Who was takin those naked shower pics?..lol...get it girl.

  • LOL

  • @sassymatazzy

LOL, my daughter, but she since quit and I can't get updates.

  • Who was takin those naked shower pics?..lol...get it girl.

  • very nice!

  • wow, your hair really grew very fast and that was over a 3month period?

    This is inspiring

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • @Lilin1989 - Why would you make this statement. If you get down with relaxing your hair thats good but this video is about natural hair. showing that your hair can grow long and pretty in its natural state.

  • This video was sooo inspirational, I just did my bc a week ago and I'm so not used to having short hair! I can't wait for it to grow back but naturally of course, this video gives me hope :)

  • @LeiLei08 thank You. I am sorry I replied to you earlier by mistake I meant to respond to someone else. I think my messages got crossed in my emails. Don't worry your hair will be long before you know it. I know some girls who BC and grew their hair down to the back in a year. I wish that was me but Nope still just trying to get to ARMPIT still after 4 years. makes no senses

  • wow this video is my inspiration to grow natural because im trying and i feel like giving up cuz i just didnt know what to put on my hair but thanks for that video =]

  • Thank you for sharing. I would love to also see a video on how exactly you apply the products on the end. For example, do you use the avocado as conditioner, hair mask, etc?

  • @MsGymDiva

I use avocado oils I put it directly on my hair or on my scalp it depends. I rarely put anything on my scalp. I also put it in my shampoo and conditioner. I typically use it on my ends. Like if I am wearing a bun I would do my moisturizer and then run the oils through my hair lightly paying the most attention to my ends. thats pretty much it.

  • wHAT IS HENNA?

  • Awesome! Hands in the hair disease... hahahaha! That was the first time I'd ever heard that one. -cute- Your natural hair is so pretty! Isn't it amazing how fast your hair starts growing once you're on the healthy hair path? It's like your follicles recognize that they're HEALED, so they start responding to the nurturing new environment and rewarding you with gorgeous hair. ;D I'm growing to butt length right with you, sis!

  • Amazing Hair! Can't wait to have that length! You did a Great Job^^

  • wow awesome

  • do you know what hair type you are....because my hir is just like yours when wet...and idk what my hair type is lol

  • LOVELY hair growth! How long have you been natural now?

  • Beautiful hair! Thanks for sharing! I am encouraged!

  • that was incredible

  • Hey Nico's Cousin! Thank you for being a natural hair inspiration! One Love...

    <3 MyAngelEyez~C~U <3

  • you grow gurl

  • Way to go girl..you hung in there and did not give up..eventually we could not see the mole..

    Like that song...

You are inspiration to all of us...and I am getting the hands in hair sickness...I need to do the pony puff just to keep my hands out of my hair...

I think I will wear the silk scarf wraps to help me keep my hair covered...

I cant do braids cuz my edges are recovering...

    Thanks for sharing that emotional

    Warm Regards,

    Kim

  • I appreciate you momma. You did good. you inspiring me

  • u afficially one of my inspirations..and i hope i have hair like yours in 3yrs even.

but it is on the verge of sounding like a "i was a sinner bound for hell but now i have been saved" video.

everybody undergoes 'chemical processes' almost everyday. i mean even painting ur nails is a chemical process to some cuhrazy people. im just referring to some of the comments...not the video itself.

some ppl are talking about crying while watching it. and i just think that is kinda overdoing it a tad

  • ok, i feel a little drama going on in this video. first of all let me state that i am currently 7mths post ( and by God's grace will be brave enough to bc...soon. lol)

but come on now guys..it is not that terrible. some people prefer the rlaxed look and let me tell u they KNOW how to keep it. my grandma has been relaxed/permed for over 23yrs. she has hip length..yes HIP LENGTH hair. 77yrs old.

i dont think it is THAT bad... i mean the whole " u survive"..with ppl welling up. lol.

    gr8 vid tho

  • i know people who have/had hip length hair who are way younger than that. they had relaxers too. if i would have taken care of my hair it would probably be hip length & im 17. mine goes down my back but i dont take care of it anymore since im going natural so ill have to cut it off anyway. i wish the relaxer didnt last so long & our hair would turn back after some months.

  • Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, thanks for allowing us to view your journey. Of course it's a neverending one for us naturals.
