  • Im still outragged and think there should be an x-men 4 with the same cast of chracters

  • I can't believe I just watched this.

  • @Cowpath3 Well, I can't believe it's not butter!

  • @Zaranyzerak lol, If you don't know I meant I can't believe I just watched Xmen 3

  • @Cowpath3 Oooooh! I thought you were regretting watching my rant...lol. :) Yeah, needless to say I was disappointed with X3.

  • @Zaranyzerak lol, No, Xmen 3 was bad though, and I knew it would be bad cause I watched your rant before I watched it. Thats why O said that.

  • Great vid man. Thanks.

I just consider X2 to be the final movie in the original series. Usually with sequels, I only completely ignore them when they do 3 things.

    1. Bring nothing to the overall enjoyment of the series

    (and the worst one)

    2. actually hurts its predecessors.

  • I really dug Superman Returns. Which Singer directed. I'll stay as far away from Last Stand as I can.

  • 9 people are related to Brett Ratner

  • oh gosh this movie is terrible

    x2 was great though

  • This guy has a point about Hollywood wanting to adapt comic books into movies and then get directors who know jack shit about the source material, remember Tim Burton doing Batman, the man had no love for action movies or comic books, yet they gave him BATMAN!!!, even Singer was guilty of it, but at least he learned to understand X-men before he started shooting.

  • Again people, ***COMMENTS ARE NO LONGER BEING APPROVED ON THIS VIDEO*** Go to the re-posted higher quality version if you want to comment. Link in the description and annotations. I have simply left the old comments up for you to READ.

  • ***Comments are now disabled for this version of the video.***

If you would like to comment on this video, I suggest watching the new and improved quality HD version (link provided in the above video and in the description) and commenting there instead. It looks and sounds much better, and addresses a few points that came up in the comments of THIS version. Thank you.

  • Okay, you are pretty knowledgeable about the material but you have no idea how to describe your objections to the movie. You simply claim things are bad or use fecal explanations or buzz words.

You really need to understand that to review a movie you need to describe why things are bad. I'm not going to take your word for it that something is "stupid" or "bad". They are meaningless words without context.

  • I gave it plenty of context and meaning. You just weren't listening. Sorry I don't take the "standard" approach to a review. I find that style stale, boring and outdated. I prefer to take a casual, more conversational approach to my reviews. If you don't like my style of presentation, don't watch my videos.

The purpose of this video was to voice my objections and encourage discussion of the subject. To that end, it has been very successful judging from the comments. Simple as that.

  • It was poorly directed because Brett Ratner lacks the skill to give a scene emotional resonance. The action scenes were pointless because there was nothing at stake. The PLOT was pointless because there was nothing at stake.

The characters fell flat, with their actions often contradicting what had been established in the previous movies. The material was adapted poorly, often bearing little to now resemblance ot the source material to the point where one wonders why they bothered.

  • These are ALL points that I brought up in the video, and explained (to name a few). There was ample context given to ALL the examples. I cited specific scenes, described why they didn't work, put everything in context of the original comics, etc. I think you were just put off by the language and didn't actually hear the points I was making, passing it off as emotional outbursts. I suggest watching the HD re-post version, as it has some additional material which elaborates on a few points.

  • @Zaranyzerak Sean i agree with evreything you said idk how a normal logical smart person can actually like this film or try to defend it.

  • Those points get garbled in your rant though since you waste plenty of time talking about how stupid the movies are. You never cite examples apart from claiming that scenes weren't done properly or were unneeded.

You may believe that the accolades of Youtube posters can back up a lack of perspicacity but I believe that if you want to claim to be a good reviewer you should avoid using meaningless or subjective words. Particularly for the length at which you do.

  • Again, sorry you don't like my approach. I don't aim to please everyone. I gave an honest appraisal of the movie, providing a detailed breakdown of everything I felt was wrong with it. Reviewing IS subjective. You read or watch a review, you are hearing someone ELSE'S opinion of the subject matter, take it or leave it. But whatever. I'm not going to belabor the point. You don't like my reviews. Great. Don't watch them. Thanks for your opinion.

  • um... does this guy have a life? No offense, but seriously if you don't like the movie you don't have to spend hourse ranting about it!

  • I'm a reviewer. Ranting and raving about shit is what I do for a living.

  • x men 3 wasnt as bad as batman and robin well i don't think so

  • ---Where the first 2 were jaw dropping, and the third put in major story points for 5 minutes and never touched again(human farming by the government). When they killded Whistler in the first 5 minutes...ya u know whats coming...when dracula is a wannabe goth pretty boy...ya we get it. With both of these amazing film series that could've seen the test of time like James Bond. They were destroyed for the ultimate sin...Greed. They wrote them to make cash and figured just make them trilogies.

  • It has much to do with the bastardation of the comics and characters, but first and formost in was poorly directed and written regardless of the genre, characters, plot...etc. Watching this film was not much different than watching a child with ADD. I respect others opinions...though it's nice if they have the slightest idea of the elements of film...THIS FILM(hard to use that word here) WAS GARBAGE!! Absolute rubbish. This same thing happend to Blade. ---

  • As for Juggernaut, there could of been an X-Men Origins: Professor Charles Xavier movie where it shows Xavier's history and how he started his school for mutants. This would've been a perfect opportunity to introduce Juggernaut. He had no business being in X3.

  • I swear you wanted to sit there for 6 hours!

YOU ARE SOOOO CLOSED MINDED WHY!!!!????

I loved the moving of the brooklyn bridge!

Yeah the way he left mystique was a bitch!

days of future past? Are you kidding!! that was such a waste of time, I hated it! who cares about sentinels! there's not going to be a fourth movie unless you direct it!

the cure gun was the fucking plot of the movie and it was a great loved how it was twisted! Beast was awesome!

  • Okay, you're obviously not interested in having an intelligent discussion. Enjoy your substanceless popcorn flicks. I, on the other hand, demand something deeper from my movie-going experience - ESPECIALLY when it is drawing on such a rich comic book history for its source material. I am not closed-minded. The third film made no sense as a logical continuation of the story, period. and how the comic book material it DID reference was handled was done so in a completely ludicrous way.

  • The direction of the plot, as established by the first two movies, logically should have led to the creation of the Sentinels. Sorry you happen to hate one of the all time greatest (and most important) storylines of the original comics, but it's a significant part of the original lore. And one that was referred back to time and time again BECAUSE it was so significant.

  • Something involving the Sentinels would have been a logical continuation, but instead we got an incoherent mess of explosions, pointless fight scenes, bastardizations of classic characters, the list goes on and on. In short, a horrible film that shat on the legacy of the comics AND the storylines established by the first two films.

  • wow you must have really disagreed with me lol..... sorry but anyway I can respect you opinion but yes, the first two movies went along with the comic books much more precisely, however the third one defintely appealed to a much larger crowd outside of the comic book world and all of my friends that saw it who don't read the comics, it made perfect sense to them and they liked it! And although I'm not a really big fan and x-men comic reader (not my generation) I understand that it could have

  • --a bummer to those who are. I think they did a really good job with what they had. The biggest problem was that they tried to fit way too many elements of x-men into a single film but they did what they could with the amount of story they had to touch basis on, and quite frankly they did it well.

they tried to fit as much of the "x-men" in as possible because it was the last film that it collapsed on itself. But i'm telling you from a view of not reading the comics that it was a great movie

  • Thats too bad. All the cool stuff happens in the comic books that you will probably never see in a movie.

  • and to most no-x-men fans it was their favorite so far, whether it be from being blinded by the special effects or the amount of action, it doesn't matter for what they tried to do they did great!

  • Obviously, he (jordanmontrelfoster) is the one who is very closed minded. So much stuff happens in the comics. I actually feel like the movies are more for young children and the comics are more for adults. The comic books have very complex and very interesting storylines not a young child may not understand at all. I guess they try to make the movies their own way and as simple as possible. The result is a bad movie for the true and hardcore fans.

  • ok when it comes to movies, you have to know that they are making the movies! It's not a reincarnation of the comics! Although the director, I do agree, sucked ass!

Again the movie is different from the COMIC! ITS SUPPOSED TO BE!

I agree that they really fucked up the pheonix but they effects that they used for the pheonix's power's were amazing!

You know what i'm done with you, you direct the next movie and then we'll talk.

by the way I HATE CYCLOPS, I'M GLAD HE DIED LIKE THAT! GO STORM!!!

  • Of course, whenever you adapt one medium to another there are necessary changes that have to be made in order for it to work. the first 2 X-Men movies weren't 100% faithful either, BUT there were at least true to the SPIRIT of the comics, and most importantly were satisfying, well-structured FILMS. The Last Stand suffered from trying to have too many storylines going on, changing established characters and storylines form the comics in ways that were just plain STUPID,

  • and it didn't even work as a satisfying sequel. It wasn't even true to what had been established before WITHIN that medium. It's more than possible to adapt a comic book and do so in a way that satisfies the casual movie goer and remains true to the spirit of the original. Look at the first two X-Men movies. The first two Spider-Man movies. The first two Superman movies. There's plenty of examples of when it's been done WELL, but sadly even more for when it's been done poorly.

  • Although I disagree with you on this and I'm not a big x-men fan I can kinda relate to you because they did similar things to the harry potter movies to shorten them. Now if you wnat to talk about Harry Potter that's where i'm a true fan and can tell you about what went wrong. but when it comes to x-men there was soo many things that they tried to fit into it, and if you think about it it could have gone worse.

  • I thought The Last Stand was a fairly decent film, but then again I've never read the comics so I didn't really have any expectations.

The director was trying to appeal to the blockbuster audience, most of whom have never read the comics and were generally pleased with the film.

But I can see where you're coming from, the casual film-goers(like me) are getting an okay film, but the loyal fans(like you) were getting stiffed.

It's good to see someone who can back up their opinion.

  • I totally agree, so much fail in the movie it should be called X-men 3: The Last Fail.

A major thing that ticked me off, were Juggernaut being treated as a mutant and his fugly ass helmet.

  • bryan singer directed the steaming pile of poo Superman Returns, turned it into a

    Smallville extended soap opera.

x-1 started off decent enough but then singer gays it up. Angel was a side story for things to come, he was young and

arrives at the mansion why? he'll be in future installations. The bridge was Magneto's war cry,

as he provided a vehicle for his mates, the massive bridge would be noticed and that's what he wanted

a vulgar display of his determined rage & power.

  • The sentinel is just a robot in a simulation, it makes

sense for them to battle any possible attacker, and a nod to the comic book fans. u're asking for too

    much

It couldn't be done, Phoenix true saga is way too huge and they needed to focus on the 'PLOT' set up by singer...x3 is alot more satisfying for comic-book-action fans regardless of your nerd-rage

Go look at Bryan's trail of tears before he crapped on x-men. where does he get off on directing the legendary x-men comics? no more soaps!

  • No, I'm not asking for too much. At the very least, I wanted consistency with the previous two movies. But we didn't even get that. As for the Sentinel, it was pointless to have it in the movie. It was a "nod to the fans" that went nowhere and only served to further add to the whole "what might have been" dismay of the fans. If they actually HAD continued the story in a logical direction, it would (and should) have had Sentinels in it at some point.

  • The Phoenix saga has already been discussed to death in previous comments. My "nerd rage" and the rage of countless other fans is perfectly justified. The movie was an incoherent mess and destroyed what WAS a great franchise up until that point. Oh, and as for it being too much soap? Have you actually READ the comics? It's always been a soap. With mutants.

  • @voltronsky "Phoenix too big?" That's a load of bullshit!! They did it in about five episodes in the animated show with a typical running time of 22 to 30 minutes. Most movies are about 2 to 3 hours long, so they could have easily done a film about it. The problem was brett Ratner didn't know what story-line he wanted to do so he did all three in one movie and made it into a convoluted mess. The Phoenix saga, the cure story, AND and brief glimpse of days of future past. he's not asking too much!

  • THANK YOU!!!! I wanted to kill them for Phoenix. She was my favorite in the anime series. Here's another point. What the fuze happen to Rouge?!

  • Did they even say that was a Sentinel? It was just a reference, not a major plot point. Having sentinels in the live action films would be mind-blowingly stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I hate this movie and agree with all your other points.

  • the movie rock you fuckface

  • To someone your age, I expect it would. To those of us who actually understand what makes a good film and demand more from our entertainment than simply "bigger 'splosions," it most certainly did not "rock."

  • another thing is i wouldn't expect a logical arument from somone with such a loose grip on grammer, funnywitheggs needs to go die ( randomly and with no emotion if Bret Ratnor has anything to do with it )

Personally i have never been more dissapointed with a movie with both Hugh Jackman AND James Marden in it.

  • That's not very nice, little boy. I'm going to tell your mother about this tonight.

  • Isn't it way passed your bedtime? Did your parents give you permission to watch this video?

  • i havent seen the movie so im a neutral here but you dont even know how old he is

  • Just have a look at the little runt's channel.

  • This movie did have a weaker back plot, the Pheonix stuff really killed it though, they should of just kept Jean dead, and kept Proff. X alive, Wolverine did play a good roll, having Juggernaut improved it for me, but it didn't tell you about his relation to Proff X.

  • I agree Last Stand lacked a lot of emotional deph and character development. The action scenes were also very poorly done. And the movie at times was just very FUCKING boring.

  • The xmen 1&2 films weren't bad. It was a very good attempt at making them. Wolverine is a great character, but not a good lead. He should have been more gritty and darker. Jackman lost his edge in the first one. The cage fight was brilliant, but he goes soft in the films. Did Logan ever go soft? He goes berserk against soldiers in x2. They captured his essence there. I like how character presence was balanced in th 90s cartoon. I take it we'll be seeing wolverine origins rant soon.

  • Hahaha! Oh, if only that were true... :)

  • Brett Ratner did to X-Men 3 what Sam Raimi did to Spiderman 3.....any time you try to cram a lot of fan service into the last movie of a trilogy you will get a lot of shit that doesn't make sense

  • Haha funny shit man XD

Yeah i know what ya mean, i'v read almost every x-men comic and the last film has little storyline to the comics what-so-ever, in my opinion........ i still love the film (not as much as the first 2) but thats probably because i just have a boner for anything to do with x-men!

Pretty cool video you got here, keep it up!

and yeah it made me laugh haha

  • Excellent rant! It's too bad the X-men trilogy had to be like every other trilogy and screw up. This was just like Spiderman- the first two were excellent, but the third failed.

You also seem to be very knowledgeable in superhero comics! Which set of DVDs would you reccommend buying: X-men 1&2 or Spiderman 1&2?

  • Had to come back and watch this one over again man since we were chating the other day, watching it again gives me a ton of ideas for future vids and my blogtv show oh yes indeed it does! Later Z

  • what about the rogue and scott thing it suck it was like hey im not goin to be a mutant anymore ima go get the cure okay i got it what now?

  • you for got juggernaut was not a mutant....in the show he was not.

  • You are trying to say that the real Juggernaut gets his powers from magic, right? He does not get his powers from a mutation.

  • yea that's what i know or they changed it

  • To me, The Last Stand was one of the best comic book three-quels of all time. I will say that I can see why people hate it. I never actually read an X-Men comic but I still liked The Last Stand as a movie.

  • I totally agree with you. I haven't read the comics, but I've always loved X-Men. And the first two movies were awesome. I was so excited to see the third, mainly because my favorite character, Pyro, was going to be in it. That's another thing I felt was underdone. The whole Iceman and Pyro fight scene. WTF? It's fire and ice! Two polar opposite powers on different sides and they used to be friends. Again I say, WTF? I was so disappointed. The whole movie was pretty upsetting. :/

  • no you have good points you just had to many similar points and so i figure the movie must have had an impact 23 mins of talking sort of impact

  • I've never really read the comics, and even I thought X3 was disappointing. Didn't live up to it's potential.

  • you have a lot of knowlege on comic books but to RANT on about a film for 23 mins that is bad you bang on about the same shit the whole.time poorly directed, lacked emotional residence point 2 poorly directed, lacked emotional residence, point 3 poorly directed lacked in emotional residence ohh did we not mention waste of screen time bla bla bla 23 mins later and we have got no where

  • Did you actually watch the video? I didn't repeat any points. The director and writers were primarily to blame for the specific issues I brought up, so yes they are mentioned several times. That's not repeating the same point - I was illustrating how they screwed up each individual aspect of the movie.

  • I loved watching this video. I completly agree with you.

  • Bryan Singer was actually planning on directing X-Men 3. In fact he was going to film X-Men 3 & X-Men 4 at the same time. But Warner Bros offered Bryan Singer to direct Superman Returns, the reason being is that Warner Bros was very impressed with what Bryan Singer did for the first two X-Men films.

  • X-Men 3 was messed up. The action sequences were neat but the story was ridiculous.

I totally agree, X-Men, and X-Men 2 were excellent. But the third film was messed up.

When it comes to films that spawn sequels, I feel that they need to get as much of the original cast and crew as they can, including the same director.

  • cyclops death was timely prompt, the first 2 were shit, beast sucks, where was gambit? (missed tha one didnt ya bitch) u kinda made me feel frikin tired

  • beast is the worst part of that frikin movie,

  • its like they take over after he left to find is home planet nd its folowing perfectly . oki i am not a superman fan but i admit that wow great job so is it your opinion or not

  • so it bring me to the point that i am prety shur they wont do a 4 x-men cuz they know they fuck it up badly so its goin to take another 20 years or so to get somethig potable a bit like the bat man but still i am asking your opinion on that one ok ,to me the best adaptation and shortening (condence) of a film or comic is superman the movie its in perfect cronological order and they bufer him perfect

  • and he is not a colosus looking man he is supose to wear a costume ......so its going to finish like the first 5 batman they where soso hey the first one with deidrator thing hihi just funnies or batman 1989 nice ting about that movies is the gears he got but still 4 mont after there was a movies called robot force they use the same gear whooooooo (the gun thing)

  • and i can going on and on and .... but you know . personally i tink its not just marvel but the usa director it self just look at blade wow good change from brown leater to black or ghost rider to is good but fantastic four nothig to do with the real story at least the transformation a bit of it they piss me off do with dc doom cuz that not how he got is power

  • or what apened to lailandra from the xiar empire who seek help from charle xiavier who every budies tink he is crazy hearing ting and then jugernaut and black smit if him right where together capturing lailandra from charle and then cama allong gladius or something like that and whe are introduce to the rest of them or multiple man a bad guy WHAT he is one of the main good guy

  • and then the famous phoenix saga 1 its when magneto create a society and took then in space ship in space then a rebelion and the x-men take a flight in colomba or some other shutle and when they came back that where phoenix take over and save jean grey at first she turn crazy and whent to her parrent house turning a plant in cristal that make them freak that does not remember you of something yes ice man in the second x-men

  • that is xfactor xforce and old member of xmen and jugernot a mutant is supose to be xavier step bros..... the hellfire club . the white queen !!!!! proteus remember him .....the supose to be kid in the wheel chair that him for shur that a small story arround the phoenix saga banshee . moira mactagger on the muir island where angel hide him self from is dad kind of

  • like the bigining in that class room when logan is runing every were in the mansion you know oki who is the last studen leaving trought the door .... kity pride yep or colossus as a teenager what the heck is supose to be like so big he got familly in russia and he came to usa to be a x-men not a studen and that little pieces of foutage in the first movie when charle xavier explaning the school you can see bouboum , jubilee

  • and then he came back to is normal life and became mad slowly but surly and one day he wake up upside down as the movie in front of a window WOW that it that is the movie WHAT they take us for stupid or what anyways now x-men oki none of them are good why ... simple the first one rogue supose to be with mystique stealing thing and then rogue attack miss marvel and then she now can fly and quit that teme of 4 there name was mystique , pyro and blob !!!!!!

  • its sad cuz they miss all that friend thingni with harry osborn cuz peter is sure that harry knows about is real identity and he keep an eye on he rong guy so hunt may get hurt one day cuz of that and the third one is so bad 1 its in secret war that he get that oil on him

  • first aeon flux she die every time and she get clone somting like that or take spider man 1 osborne is the green goblin then is son WHAT !!!!!!!!it supose to be a theft who find the green goblin lair in the sewer then take over by changing to obgoblin and team up with king pin then later turn to be demogoblin or someting lik that ...not DIE at least what apened to the sinister 6 !!!!!! gone with the wind prety sure

  • I've never read the comics but when i watched the 3rd movie i agree with you it was just alot of crap thrown togather to take up screen time

  • if they were to replace this x-men 3 with a better version i think they should use the storyline from wolverine and the x-men because to me that seemed a whole lot better than this storyline.

  • Hey, this is Bret Ratner, and I just wanted you to know that I poured my heart and soul into that movie you fucking asshole.

  • LOL! I only wish... Loved your audition vid, btw.

  • Argh. Off topic but what is so bad with x-men evolution. OK it wasn't that good but it wasn't BAD either. on topic I agree with all your points. ^_^

  • at least there having a 4th one x3 was a disgrace beast did kickass i say we see rise of apocalypse in x4 that way if the idiots don't know to get cyclops back bcuz they killed him for no reason theyll be ok u missed the point 12 with iceman and rogue there lil love story very undetailed and useless

  • days of future past would be such a kickass film/trilogy, i agree with pretty much everything you say in this lol

  • Not to mention where the fuck was Gambit while you're introducing far less well known Mutants??

So, in conclusion, a pile of steaming fail, that, I agree with you, is X-Men 3. However, even Singer himself initiated the compromise by going off of the horribly retarded Evolutions TV show rather than either the comics or the animated series, and thus did initiate this sad decline in the first place.

  • 12.) What good Mutants were introduced were wasted: Multiple Man alone could've induced awesome storylines, even if he didn't follow the comic, but instead was merely used as a decoy. Angel NOT ONLY hogged the entire opening of the movie, a complete waste, but then disappeared til the very end. Beast, again, merely quipped with TEH ONL"Y REAL X-Man, Wolverine, advised some people, then threw him at Magneto. Wow. What an epic failure of good characters.

  • I thought these were going for a more "realistic" approach to most of their super-powers?? And why does Wolverine suddenly have OMG UBER DUPER BETTER THAN SUPER MAN REGEN!!! when it comes to Phoenix(as shitty as she's written anyway), even though she disintegrates Cyclops, the Gov't Soldiers, the Morlocks, and Prof. X without a thought?? Sorry, that's just epically bad fan fiction, not a decent plot climax.

  • storylines involving him, the Asteroid M/Avalon storyline, which would involve many other characters, including Colossus defecting to the Acolytes after being ignored, introducing Cortez, etc, not to mention covering the earth in rocks.

11.)Why, as you said, even tease us with a 30 second glimpse of both the sentinels and the danger room, not to mention how conveniently wolverine was tossed, then somehow surgically severed AND tossed it's head single-handedly?

  • 10.) Why, of all whys in the decision making process of this movie, decide to include half the mutant population, but only as evil lackeys??? I don't remember Multiple Man being Magneto's Henchman? Or Juggernaut?? Or especially these new, candy-goth Morlocks?? Especially when, if you must beat the dead horse of making Magneto the only arch-villain(who's a Mutant) in all 3 Movies, you have just thrown away the perfectly good villainess Mystique, not to mention fucking ignoring one of the coolest

  • 9.) Halle Berry's acting sucks, I'm sorry, I know she's the right color and gender, and for some that automatically qualifies her, but I could get more emotion out of a wet paper bag than she gives as Storm in all 3 movies. Especially when she tries to play the "bitter and determined leader" for no reason in 2 and 3. Not to mention once again that, aside from Wolverine and Magneto, who only really get perfunctory nods, not any real depth, only Jean and Xavier get any real backstory at all.

  • First, in the preview, we were shown a sentinel, Angel, Phoenix, etc, so me and my friends, we're thinkin the obvious--why not do at least some of the whole instigation of Apocalypse's genocidal war in the show? You could do parts of Genosha/slave collars, or the Night of the Sentinels and the Mutant Control Agency, or even the first reveal, when Apocalypse almost nabs rogue as a horseman and makes Archangel on Muir Island, posing as Dr. Adler, along with involving many of the villains in this.

  • 7.) Professor X dying. WTF?? That's like, an automatic end to the X-men right there, nevermind all the other bullshit. Especially with such an amazing actor: Patrick Stuart really is the soul of these movies, and you almost believe him more than anything else in any medium as a living breathing Professor Charles Xavier.

8.) Why not the obvious angle anyway?? This felt, once again, like Spiderman 2 and 3, like it smacked of trying to cram too many comic book sagas into one movie.

  • 5.) Joss Whedon fanboys were obviously involved, as not only is a "cure" story retardedly obvious from the creation of mutants on(probably the reason nobody beforehand did one???), but if the comic was anything like this movies' cure storyline, it blows.

6.) Fox execs are whores. They look at this franchise the same way a pimp looks at a prostitute: a cash cow. Case in point: we have Fox execs coming on set of Wolverine origins bitching that it's "too dark."

  • tell in both the first(which was based on X-men evolutions btw) and third movies, it was "Wolverine and the X-men", not X-men. He hogged practically all of the screen time, was apparently channeling 90210, and just basically acted like a worthless cock the whole time. Yet, somehow, it's ok because it's Wolverine for god's sake!! No, it's not. The Wolverine fanboys, who really shouldn't be allowed near the influencing of any other movies ever, made these movies.

  • Especially as she and Rogue have swapped places, and that's one place I have to disagree with you, they fucked with Rogue bad, she's practically a worthless character now given how much of the movies revolve around combat, and Jubilee is now a redundant add-on, like Internet explorer is in windows.

4.) Wolverine blows. Sure, Hugh Jackman's a decent actor, and he did finally start using his claws for something other than cutting tomatoes finally(unlike the cartoons for kids), but you could really

  • So, he jumped ship to a sure contract: Superman Returns.

2.) Juggernaut, as mentioned below, was an utter bitch in the movie, despite being played by a cool actor, wore a disco-bondage suit instead of his armor, mouthed off like a bitch, was totally once again, thrown in for kicks, and was basically the Rhino anyways, as he never had superpowers, but I guess the whole gem of cyttorak/I hate Xavier thing would've been redundant with Xavier vaporized??

3.) Jubilee shouldn't even be in it anyway.

  • I'm gonna have to make this a multi-part rant response since you covered so much but not in much depth, and unfortunately I don't own a webcam to do a proper re:X-men 3 rant. Fanboys, true, generally want faithfulness to the comics, but I contend it's also fanboys that fucked this one up.

1). From what I heard, it wasn't really Singer's fault at all, more of that Fox toyed with his contract, undecisive as to whether they even wanted a new X-men, and whether they wanted him to still do it.

  • Nice video. I had a good time listening to you.

To level with you, never been much of an X-men fan before, mainly because the plot lines on the movies seemed somewhat thin, but from the way you talk about the comic i ought to check them out.

But yeah, this is essentially just a pointless post telling you a well done and good rant (Even though i understand little about the plot-based reasons :P )

  • well put, but didn't magneto move the golden gate bridge? either way pointless.

  • Yeah, I messed up the name of the bridge. Same point though.

  • Your X-Men 3 rant made me subscribe, you should review the first two and upcoming prequel. I'd love that.

  • Well said.

  • u cant even see the fuckin sentinel!

  • You see its head clearly at the end of the Danger Room sequence.

  • HEAD....just the head!

  • I think you missed the point. They wouldn't know what a Sentinel, just the head or otherwise, LOOKED like since they didn't EXIST. They essentially turned the Sentinels into a throwaway Danger Room gag, instead of actually developing a STORY with them. Which was completely pointless, and a complete waste of one of the longest running (and most important) adversaries in the history of the X-Men. The point was, there shouldn't have been a Sentinel in it, PERIOD, if there was no POINT to it.

  • I'm shocked u didn't rant about Juggernaut.

  • That wasn't as big a deal to me, although it's been discussed at length in the comments since.

  • Your right about that. This stupid Steve Miner took the George A. Romero's classic Day of the dead and made it a peice of crap movie and complete ruined the movie for Friend and I and will never enjoys this movie again don't buy it will ruin the movie for you too.

  • did u play the games?

  • hey I just watched your full rant and i agree 100%. as a long time fan of marvel this movie made me very angry. I just hope they remake it like they are doing with the batman movies.

  • i do agree with al that you have said in your rant. my only 2 cents that i could add to yours is. in x-men 2 when Colossus er..er.. ativated. it went with the great "ching "ching" sound effect and looked right with the strips. going back to the great x-men comics and the cartoon in 92. but in the 3rd movie with the whole tt1000 thing going on.. hated it.. jsut felt like getting that off my cheast

  • yea i was pretty confused why phoenix was the way she was in the third i was shocked that she killed xavier and cyclops

  • they tried to cram too many stories in this movie. waste of characters.

  • It wasn't the Brooklyn Bridge, it was the Golden Gate Bridge. The Brooklyn Bridge is in New York. Either way, I 100% agree with your review.

  • Already pointed out in another comment. I'll have to add an annotation or something...

  • they picked the right actors to do the job,but epic fail on the storyline, and the ending was horrible!!!!!!

  • The buck has to stop with stan lee! how'd he let this shit, be produced.....

  • Yeah when they killed Cyclops I seriously thought they were trying to trick us and he was gonna come back later.

  • 14) At the end of the movie where the Xmen face off against the Magneto's brotherhood, the ONLY Xmen left are Wolverine and Storm, Beast (in that ridiculous tight costume, and yes i get the whole 'he hasn't worn his uniform in years bullshit, but its still STUPID, Iceman/Kitty Pryde (neither are old or experienced enough) and Colossus (who we know NOTHING about and has NO dialogue in the movie, i think he says 2 words !!!!)

  • 12) Why did they kill Cyclops and Xavier die ??

    13) Brett Ratner is a disgusting human being who's all about being a commercial hollywood director as apposed to making art. I saw an interview with him where he's boasting about being rich and having lots of amazing cars....er...?? Do u ever see Spielberg talking that shit ??

  • 7) They could have expanded on cool characters like Arclight and Psylocke !

    8) Which fool cast Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut ??, I die everytime he speaks in this movie !!

    9) They TOTALLY messed up Rogue in this movie, had no clue with what to do with her !

    10) I HATE, HATE, HATE what they did to Mystique !

11)They totally F-d up Jean/Pheonix in every possible way !!

  • Beast was the only character done right in the movie.

  • 4) Jean's hair is about 2 years longer than it was in X2, is that really long it was between the 2 stories of X2 and 3 ???

    5) WHY is Nightcrawler not in X3 ??

6)On the bridge, when the bad guys arrive at Alcatraz, one second its day and the next second its night, they didnt even intercut it with another scene ?!! And Brett Ratner mentioned this on the commentary and said "Oh well, if you dont like it...thats your problem"....

  • 1) Why feature the character Angel, if your only going to give him 3 minutes screen time ??

    2) If your going to kill off Cyclops, can you at least SHOW us how he died, and not let us wonder through most of the movie "Is he actually dead ??"

    3) If your going to feature 'The rise of the Pheonix'....can you actually SHOW us in a big spectacular way !! not just the turn the camera 'round and oh there she is !

  • Right on!!!

  • I didn't like it at all. I completely agree.

Speaking of which did you see Eragon?

  • one of the only good scenes in the movie was the scene were wolverine kicks a the mutant that can grow his limbs back in the balls and says grow those back

  • What are your thoughts on 'Wolverine and the X-men'?

  • I've only seen the first episode, so it's hard for me to say at this point. I liked what I saw, certainly better than that god-awful X-Men Evolution from a few years back.

  • What's wrong with X-men Evolution?

  • Christopher Nolan (THE DARK KNIGHT) to direct X-men 4 or reboot

  • Now THAT would be a step in the right direction.

  • I would be f*cking happy..... i wanted them to reboot than make x-men 4 >.> they already screwed the movie franchise already

  • Re: Scott's Death. I too was annoyed that Cyclops' treatment was horrible in this film. But I don't believe Ratner was alone the decision to kill him off. Marvel has been marketing Wolverine to the level- RIDICULOUSLY. Cyclops was probably killed, so that Wolverine could be the star of the film. No competition. Same reason, I believe, he was the "only" one that could stop the Phoenix. She couldn't possibly have ripped apart his atoms... 'course not.

  • Truly amazing X-Men rant sir, and yet I still enjoyed Last Stand as a popcorn film.

I really like my comic book film adaptations, but I never over analyse these aspects, at the end of the day there not aimed at fan boys.

It always will come down to simplifying plot lines for a family audience.

  • At least X-Men 3 was better than Spider-man 3.

  • I would say X-Men 3 and Spiderman 3 are both a case of too many cooks spoil the broth, you can't put that many super powered characters into films without an over convoluted plot.

  • yeah i hate it when Characters die for no reason....SAD..and i feel like walking out and gettin my money back

  • Does anyone else notice this dude sounds/acts just like David Cross's character Newton in Men in Black II (you know the loser guy that runs the video store and lives in his mom's attic)?? Seriously, watch the scene and tell me if I'm wrong here!! Oh, wait, I may have messed up, now he is reminding me of Patton Oswalt! (Sorry Patton!)

  • Aaaand....what does this have to do with the actual CONTENT of my video? Nothing? Thought so. Buh-bye!

  • I think they just threw Angel in as a kind of metaphor for the whole mutants vs humans/the cure thing.

  • I do agree about the bridge scene but I do think it had a purpose not for taking so long but he had to carry all the Mutants on his side with him to the island thing. XD Anyways cool rant.

  • i agree and disagree on several issues, but it boils down to me not caring so much what they changed cause i don't think the xmen universe is all that great to begin with (it's about dudes in spandex, for crying out loud!)

anyhow - i read the stuff when i was a teen, and i like some of the characters. I think movie 1 and 3 are the best, cause 2 missed the feel of the universe on several points. Biggest gripe with nr 3, is something you said too: no fucking emotions!!! it just falls flat.

  • i heard that the story went as if cyclops didnt die , he exiled himself from everyone or jean grey told him to do it

  • also another thing u missed in this movie was the total absence of Xavier and Juggernaut's relationship. They were brothers. They didnt even seem to know each other in the movie at all! I was like oh cool you get to finally see the conflict of Xavier and Juggernaut on screen but there was none! There weren't even any lines spoken between them!

  • X-Men & X2 rocked! Pardon my french, but X3 was a complete fuck up!

    ...So was Doom the movie

  • you made some awesome points, but there is one thing you forgot to mention that really pissed me off when i saw the movie...WHERE THE FUCK WAS NIGHTCRAWLER?!?!?!? What was he on vacation or some shit like that!?!? He is the coolest one there is, why give him the shaft?

  • yes i definately enjoyed your rant for this movie. You made excellent points which made perfect sense. X-men 3 was just horrible, the plot overall was really shitty. I wouldn't have said it better myself. I salute this vid :)

  • yes i definately enjoyed your rant for this movie. You made excellent points which made perfect sense. X-men 3 was just horrible, the plot overall was really shitty. I wouldn't have said it better myself. I salute this vid :)

  • that was awesome.....God I hated x-men 3. Does anybody know who is directing wolverine?

  • Looks like Gavin Hood is the director, I checked his profile on imdb but didn't recognize any of his previous work. Which I take as a good sign - get someone fresh, new, and (hopefully) innovative. Fingers crossed!

  • i thought your rant made great sense because i also read x-men and other comic book series and they did mess a movie that could have had great potential . thanks

  • X-3 was written by Simon Kinberg (written by)& Zak Penn (written by) Brett Ratner. First off some of your rant is good but the majority is WHINEY. And it was the Golden Gate Bridge not the Brooklyn Bridge. You can not fault the director for what he was throw at the zeroe hr. Movie had to be made they do have schedules that they have to fill or else the movie doesn't get made on budget released on time. Point being your way too into your little rants.

  • Oh, it was the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE? Well, that makes it COMPLETELY different! End sarcasm. I fault the writers, the director and especially Fox for opting to do a rush job of crap instead of making a GOOD MIVIE as they did with the previous two.
